@357lenny (PART 2) After you imply that he was indoctinated to kill all Christians, I point out he was from Afghanistan and not from other places you might be thinking of (read: Palestine, Iran, etc) and so assuming he had any hatred toward the U.S. before the invasion is a big jump from any logic and evidence.

I agree you've identified the "Muslims never criticise Muslims" problem, or the symptoms of it. I agree its a huge problem. What the heck do you think the channel BarclayAve is about?

You call him "killer lover"/terrorist fan. I point out not everyone in Gitmo has any chargable offenses and 1 was a 12 year old boy that attempted to kill soldiers durin g an invasion of his own country, and was swiped away and in max security prison until adulthood. You reply that he was indoctrinated to kill Christians.

You are acting exactly like the very ideology you despise. @357lenny I am not a dude. And very funny. The reason so many adhere to Islam (simple black and white mindset is reassuring in a world where one is faced with complex issues) is very similar to the sentiment yu expressed here. Just becuase I don't want a 12 year old kid locked up until he is 19 (a man) I am a "convert"?

@357lenny You are speaking as if everyone in Guantanamo is a terrorist, some have had no trials because there was no evidence of violence to try them with. Others were just fighting the invasion. One was a twelve year old boy who was kept for 7 years. If the U.S./Europe was invaded by a foreign arab country and your 12 yr old son threw a granade at one of em, should he be kidnapped from the U.S. shipped overseas to the invading country and held as a prisoner of war for 7 years?

@357lenny Lenny, that isn't true. If someone converts to Islam they are saved (no longer merely someone to tolerate/oppose) and are welcomed into the community. Its even cited as validation.

I didn't see things the way you did. In fact, if a religion gives someone peace and community I see no reason why this should be viewed as bad. The tragedy is fundamentalism ;. 'If anyone doesn't beleive in a single word of the quran it is as if he has discarded the whole thing' churns out virulence

@yasm2002 No. They never know when they are first potential converts. They become a part of something larger than themselves first. It happens slowly, Imams don't tell all, otherwise they'd risk alienation. No he didn't know. Hopefully with the good work of people like you he will come to know. Then he will have the choice to leave Islam or create an Islam he can live with by working to stop the human rights abuses amongst his brethren. Let's hope he doesn't choose to look the other way.
