Wow, i've never seen this bond movie, and i'll make sure never to. What a shitty opening sequence, bad music, and very very bad way of killing THE Blofeld! :(((((
@FraserJWhieldon Read one of the official Bond novels post-Fleming called "Ken-Singh-Ton", it's set in India and revolves around a N. Korean Room 39 operation running from a Delicatessen, there's more too it, but it's basically a reference to that.
the actor playing Blofeld here was John Hollis and his voice was performed by Robert Rietty who had also voiced Largo in Thunderball and Tiger Tanaka in You only live twice
@hugh0221 One of Blofeld's lines from this scene is as follows:
"I have looked forward to this moment, Mr. Bond. I intend to enjoy it to the full."
We can infer from this line that Bond has most definitely encountered and fought Blofeld at least a couple of times. It also enforces the idea that Bond's caused a lot of damage to Blofeld's organisation, and so the latter intends to brutally punish Bond as retribution for his actions.
I've never been thinking until today, but I now wonder why on Earth Blofeld came outside in this scene. He was inside before this video/scene comes up, turning on his gadget.
@hugh0221 Perhaps he wants to be, in a sense, face-to-face with Bond, as prior to this film, James was instrumental in sabotaging many of Blofeld's operations. If you think about it, James has caused so much damage to the organisation that Blofeld wants to give Bond something to think about before he dies.
THis is the best Bond movie with Moore as 007. It took alot out of Fleming's works mainly For Your Eyes Only and Risico with also a scene taken from Live And Let Die. If you don't think this belongs in the top five Bond movies, then you are not a James Bond fan.
@Darkstar263 Yes, i watched this a couple weeks back i think on Netflix and then i went to watch The Living Daylights and UHHHG!! THey took it off instant watch! I was mad they did that! But then they added new episodes of Criminal Intent and SVU and Law & ORder. so win win i guess.
By the way, what did u think of The Living DAylights?
I've only watched The Living Daylights once last year when it aired on tv. I hadn't watched the Dalton films before as I was skeptical of him. I think I misjudged him.
Recently got that and License to Kill on dvd. Haven't seen License to Kill yet. So am going to watch both of them.
@Darkstar263 Well The Living Daylights is definatley Dalton's best. Great story great adaptation, nice bond car. As for License, well i guess it's about tim i admit that it is a good action paked movie, and very origianl. nice songs by Gladys Knight and PAtti Labelle. Also it was the first to have a lot of language and is considered more violant and darker than the previous ones. But i still like it. It's Dalton's only other movie. The Felix actors in the movies over the years kinda wierd right?
Yeah I heard License to Kill is a bit more darker than the other films. I've seen small clips of it before. Such as when a henchman gets killed in a decompression chamber where his head explodes and the blood splatters onto the window. Possibly one of the most gruesome death scenes in the series.
When I was a kid and I used to watch FYEO,I sometimes wondered who the man in the wheelchair was who tried to kill him. After seeing the past connery bond movies after that,I imagine it's obvious it's blofeld himself. The question now is with the new reboot is this..will we see a new version of blofeld and/or Spectre in the next bond film? Time will tell I suppose.
Yeah that was Blofeld for sure. The Roger Moore era of Bond films were the key to the franchise continuing on. After Sean left, finding his replacement was not going to be easy. Roger brought a new feeling for the character that audiences fell in love with very quickly.
I loved the opening clip of "For Your Eyes Only" in terms of surprise and trickery for retiring Blofeld. Just when Blofeld was having the last laugh came James Bond in his way of extermining an evil nemesis. A Brilliant 6!!
What a stupid thing to try and offer to bond. Why would he want a Delicatessen for? Surely he could've offered money or something better. I don't know.
Well, Moore's Bond did something that Connery's and Lazenby's portrayals couldn't...
I get the idea that this scene was in response to Kevin McClory, whom at the time was planning a 'rival' Bond film involving Blofeld ("Never say Never again" - 1983) that he had the rights at the time to make - The approach was to show that the official Bond series didn't need Blofeld or SPECTRE.
Honestly, this sucks ass. Killing off Blofeld like this is like having the Joker die by slipping and hitting his head on a sink in The Dark Knight. Fucking anticlimatic.
Why not? Blofeld hadn't been a villain once since 10 years before in "Diamonds Are Forever". He was still responsible for Theresa's death. Not to mention he wasn't the main villain in "For Your Eyes Only" anyway. Retiring him this way is hilarious!
Jack Nicholson's Joker died by falling. The Joker was the main villain in TDK, how is that some comparison? Also The Dark Knight is the most overrated, pretentious movie these last 10 years. If not for Ledger's death half wouldn't see it
@McLarenMercedes What was the point of bringing back the most iconic villain ever to appear on Bond movies just to kill him off in the opening of the movie in suck a ridiculous fashion? Blofeld was the leader of SPECTRE, and he dies in a way so comic that is actually laughable. I'm sorry, this is just anticlimatic. It's not SUPPOSED to be hilarious.
@MisterDeeds It had something to do with some movie company bust up and EON lost rights to use the Blofeld character in the official 007 films, so I guess they just wanted to give final closure by killing him off, but they were not allowed to name the character, which is why Blofeld is not listed in the credits. Though its obvious this character is clearly meant to be Blofeld.
Awesome but license to kill is better
