"Shock and awe" is the right phrase to describe this amazing woman in all its meanings! She is a superwoman, a wonderwoman, she even looks like Wonder Woman's secret agent (Diane). Zennie62, Why would you assert that race may be an issue? My mother is black (that's right black, I was born in the US, not Africa so it's okay for me to say that) and my father is Indian. Now that you bring up race I will point out to you that many blacks will certainly be voting based on race alone. But it's okay for them to do that? They are voting Obama solely because he is black. That is racist. Why not condemn them for voting solely on race as opposed to the issues?

I am a registered Dem that has lost loyalty to the party for reasons such as this! Palin is unfairly attacked the same as Hillary was. Sexism flourishes within the Dem Party. I'll vote McCain/Palin because they are now the better option. The Dems have screwed up enough blaming economy on Reps. Both parties are to blame. First off when they were talking about the community organizers they said that being a comunity organizer doesnt qualify you to become president. kinda understand, but in light of everything like biggest speach ever for her, first rep lady, the critism of previous days, teleprompter failure i cannot totally agree. the result of the majority's liking and the speech rallying the base showed it was a good speech. also, every speaker pauses for the applauses. media says it is a 30 min speech, but will be 45 min bc of applause is how the report prior to hearing the speech.

However, my main complaint against the Dem. platform is same-sex marriages and abortion. I re-registered as a non-partisan voter last year because of these two issues. MANY fine people can become community organizers. But VERY FEW people have the credibility to rise to the VERY HIGH office of GOVERNOR of an entire STATE. Governors are in the "big leagues"; community organizers are stuck squarely in the "minor leagues."

Not white boys? Kind sir, the exact opposite of the liberal intellectuals, the founders of our great nation were as close to being "redneck" as they could get. They owned farms, worked out-of-doors with their hands and possessed keen minds. I am thrilled to be such good company and I wear the Liberal's scorn as a badge of honour. Such pride is unbecoming, I admit, and it is one of my few faults. (Chewing tobacco is not a fault, in my opinion.)

Hypocrisy! On so-called "conservative" talk radio, the Repubs were initially criticizing McCain's VP choice. They knew that it was and still is a poor decision. They knew that McCain had spent MONTHS blabbering about inexperience, and then he went out and picked a nominee (without even obtaining adequate background info) who has family issues, a pending investigation, and NO experience. What? The stability of our great nation is at stake, and the Repubs will jeopardize it to win an election?

Your frenzy/crescendo building concept only works when you have a very loud and booming or a high piercing shrill type of tonality to your voice where you can overcome the loudness of the crowd. Gov Palin's vocal tone is much more nasal than diaphragm driven so it would have not sounded natural at all for her to do as you proposed.

Apparently you haven't heard many great speeches i.e MLK, JFK, FDR, Reagan, Malcolm X. If a speaker just continues to talk during thunderous roars and ovations no one can hear what points you are trying to make. Truth be told, Gov Palin effectively delivered an excellently written (though not by her own hand) speech and her timing was on point. Your becoming a campaign stooge for Sen Obama has clouded and convoluted your common sense and judgment. And no, I'm not a McCain/Palin supporter either.

As for the speech the real funny thing is that the speech by her has totally ended the hoped for bounce that Obama was looking to receive after his speech.
Think about what has just happend to Obama over the last few days. Obama gives the best speech of his life before 80,000 fans and yet McCain takes control of the media topic with his VP pick, ending the poll number bounce of Obama.

As far as I could tell, the build up to her speech was such that almost everyone seem to expect her to fail.
By not failing, (to stutter, to get lost, to be unable to read the words from the teleprompter, etc)she had to climb a tall mountain all by herself.
As for her use of the "pause"? I watched Clinton's speech and due to crowd noise it was hard to hear some parts..a pause would have helped.
But too many tend to slow a speech, thats true.

I like that you are critiquing Palin on the ONLY THING that Obama is actually qualified at, giving a stirring speech. The RNC convention was so tired that by the time that Palin came on, anything would be exciting.
Gov. Palin is with big oil and believes that global warming is not man made. She believes that God sends people into war for oil to the point where she is sacrificing her own son in the name of killing people who had nothing to do with 9/11, the greatest inside job ever.

"Shock and awe" is the right phrase to describe this amazing woman in all its meanings! She is a superwoman, a wonderwoman, she even looks like Wonder Woman's secret agent (Diane).
