  • hunter hart, was made captain of everton in the 1920's who played along side dixie dean as a center defence, if your wondering why ive said this its because he is my great grandad!, R.I.P hunter.. im so proud! <3

  • lol, a person in my class is related to him honestly its true

  • not Nottingham or Manchester crap its evertons man of the club and R.I.P MY LONG LOST HERO,BROTHER FOR ME

  • He's got teeth like Charlie Adams

  • I MEAN TRAMIER LOL

  • notts county are the true founders of dixie not everton... the credit goes to notts!

  • @lmfaoatthat no he was an evertonian fan all his life! him being in notts was only to get noticed and accepted into everton! everton got his true sporting talent so the credit goes to them!

  • @CNmaster1 no the cred goes to the finder.. it does not matter who they support ! look at phil jones of united now ... blackburn found him .... not united and fergie claims he found a future england captin! no! blackburn did notts found dixie .. not everton

  • well done dixie manchester say nought tonight gout nought to say

  • Imagine that! A Brit sports hero so adept, that even we Yanks named almost one-tenth of our nation after him! Dear old Dixie!

I don't know anything about English football, but you guys & gals do, so I'll agree he must be something special. And a bit of congratulations to the banjo picker on the soundtrack, too.

  • my dad signed his death certificate :)

  • dixie dean we love u i come n watch efc n stare at u

  • from Birkenhead lol

  • Hmmm Dixie vs Gerd Muller?

  • Merseyside has always produced sporting talent.. steven gerrard, dixie dean and that ugly twat rooney, but all class acts none the less. I follow rugby these days, but i always want both everton and liverpool to do well, and i'll support any merseyside club in a cup final or something like that..

  • we could do with your spirit at goodison now dixie.

  • The bald bloke that you see a couple of times in this clip is the "prince of fullbacks" Warney Cresswell!

  • my grandad says he needed a hat-trick last game to beat the current holder, an when he scored the noise could be heard miles away, there was a certain place but i carnt remember... COYB

  • Dixie... 100 goals in a season... 60 which in the league... unbelievably amazing!

  • ‘Dixie was the greatest centre-forward there will ever be, He belongs to the company of the supremely great, like Beethoven, Shakespeare and Rembrandt.'

    Bill Shankly

  • Love this man and proud to be the producer of The Dixie Dean Story! next show is 19th November at Kirkby Suite, tickets online from Arts2u Ltd. Hopefully see you lot there. I can never get enough of this clip - FAB!!

    x

  • I think you'll find Arthur Rowley is the graeaest goalscorer that ever lived...

  • @Damnblastify in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th division maybe. haha.

    349 in 399 games, can't beat that.

And 18 in 16 for England.

  • Born and bred in BIRKENHEAD DIXIE 60 ... x x

  • R.I.P Dixie...

Amazing striker an a Everton legend..

you are sadly missed but never forgotten <3

  • You can say it's ameteur standard all you like but ameteur sides don't have a player with the ability to score more than 60 goals in a season. Dixie dean is a true great of the game and should be considered one if the best to have ever lived

  • Weak era my arse... massive pitches, barely any rules on fouls, pitch conditions were like playing in a mud slide, the ball was made of solid leather and must have weighed a ton when wet and most of them probably made their own boots.... If it was still like that now, every one of todays 'pro' footballers would be on the ground injured

  • this video is brilliant, just shows how great and what history lies at everton football club. the shite talk about their glory hunting fans and their mickey mouse cups, but we have pride and fans who stick with their team through anything. we won the league on anfield before the shite were even founded.. now that is history.

  • better than pele!! not many people agree with me in my opinion the best footballer in history and future!

  • Indeed Ali. Quite rightly this unknown is dismissed and ignored as he played in an era which completely lacked credibility. Porkies looked like plumbers, brickies and binmen (ass crack!),international players were unheard of,the offside law varied between the farcical and non existent, goalies received abysmal protection(strikers could legally bundle ball plus goalkeeper into net!),experimental rules & goal inflation. Hence this piss poor era is rightly dismissed & ignored. Long may it remain so!

  • Nobody else did it though.. the record of 59 was set in the division below. "shanks" praised dean as a football great.

  • Err..I must disagree. Firstly you just start insulting footballers of the time. Sure the Goalie was able to be "fouled" but ignoring Dixie Dean's record is tantamount to voluntary igonorance...literally!!! Real Football fans don't ignore this era but recognize it,as it was,an era. "...era is rightly dismissed & ignored." By whom, may I ask? The record of goals scored in one season in the top flight is 60.

  • @shankslives4ever ironic user name from a kopite, your club even refused to recognise him when he retired, well known fact known on merseyside is that bill shankly died supporting EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB.

Change your name to Macdonalds kopites.

    EFC FOREVER.

  • Impossible for me to judge him as a player having never seen him play, and I understand goals were a plenty in those days, but what a phenominal achievement, 60 in a season ... I'm an Arsenal fan, but just doing my research on former greats as I'm bored at work, he's up there in English history as the best striker ever

  • Dixie Is and always a ledge!

  • His scoring record is simply astounding, Higher than Rowley (percentage wise). Granted the pre war game was different but still it was an amazing achievement. Just based on his strikes, he is on par with the likes of Muller. The pre war game is looked down upon but the man was ahead of his time. Its amazing how he is hardly mentioned outside the UK

  • In 1927-28 Season Dean did score those magical 60 but did you know in the same season Jimmy Smith of Ayr Utd in Scotland scored 66 in the same number of games.

  • @lex13vs in the scottish league...

  • footballing legend, from a kopite

  • dixie is a fookin legend

  • not bad for a birkenheader

  • Dixie was the best ever

  • wat a legend

  • hes a pro and thats final

  • 3 trophies won at Everton. Nicknamed after a racist term to discribe south americans. Brillaint. 1 and only legend.

  • This Guy Beat 60 goals per season in 1928 ? I

'm from thailand i know him.

  • Greatest centre forward of all time.

  • Hahah look at this tit,

everton are shit 1 of the worst teams in the prem with that red head of a manager !!

  • 5th!*cough*Final of the FA, you tit. Bitter Newcastle fan, are you?

  • lmfao.. you clearly have no clue about football if you think everton is one of the worst teams in the premier league.

finished 5th in the last 2 seasons, and moyes was manager of the year in the 08/09 season.

going onto his 8th yr of managing a club thats on the up and up with little money.

    your clearly a fuckwhit!

  • ok when you score 60 goals in the premier leauge from 38 games then you can say that and everton have been in the prem/leauge longer than ALL other teams

  • lol..this guy is completely unknown, because the standard pre war was pathetic.. 4th tier of current English league is superior

98% of the players of the highest scoring season list are from pre War. Jimmy McGory scored 550 goals for Celtic in this era, Camsell 59 goals 1 season.. the England international goalscorers list most players averaged over a goal per game...ie.Vivian Woodward

Amateur game, players with sunday league physique, only locals, slack rules, no offside, cricket scores

  • sound but i dont think 3-1 or 2-0 or 3-2 are cricket scores dipshit

  • completely unknown? Wow, you are just proving how little you know about football.

  • wow are you really that fucking retarded, dixie dean is known all over the world.

  • Shut up you fucking fool, even Bill Shankly.. the man I have seen you call "God" on other videos for fuck sake, praised Dixie Dean.

  • Well then you should go back to watching Cricket "Ali"...how many Pakis are in professional Football? Get back on the boat brown lad...

  • @Ali74 This guy is not completly unknown. What aload of rubbish. Dixie Dean is probably the best english striker to have graced the game. You ask any professional footballer and they will tell you the same thing. My grandad grew up watching him and he told me no striker by a country mile was better than him.

  • @MrFootballcrazyman dont rise to ali74 hes a sad little gloryhunting twat who loves liverpoolfc so much hes never been the match....not once. he has no friends so spends all his time on everton vid leaving nonsensical comment which just prove his lack of knowledge

  • @lukemc1878 Its true. Everton and Arsenal, are the only two clubs to have stayed in the top flight for decades.

  • Weak era folks.. weak era

  • weak comment bud .... weak comment

  • Why didnt anyone else do it then if it was a weak era, get off our videos!!

  • Anonbullied at school fuckhead ,Legends live4ever why are you here shit4brains killed any kids lately rip the 39

  • Brought tears to my eyes! The first (and best ever) No.9. Dixie was "The King" and he was in the King's(Liverpool) Regiment, so you could say he was "The King of Kings"! Great footage of 1920's Goodison. Liked the umbrellas at the Gwladys Street end.

  • Kopite's aren't from Liverpool? Look at you with Z Cars. It was based in Kirkby - just like your club. The city's all ours! lol I'm only joking. I can take a joke and I hope you blue noses can aswell! :)

  • "Carlsberg Anfield"

You would have to be able to take a joke with a ground named that

  • Your Captain's a Wool.

  • the word "legend" gets thrown about too much. BUT Dixie is a fooookin legend bar non, greatest ever striker this country ever produced and probably the best in the world

  • Greatest goalscorer ever and thats coming from a manc. Peace out.

  • murdering cunt anonhate machine 60 goals in one seasonbeat dat wembley 09 coyb

  • read below Anon

then come back with a proper answer ya dickhead

  • how is he over rated.. youve never seen him play?

how do you know he is over rated? ive never seen him play, im just going off stats, 60 goals in one season, cant be overrated but fucking murdering bitter cunt!

  • R.I.P Dixie Dean

not just the bets everton player

but the best football player of time

no one will beat him !!!

60 goals in a season , well really 100 goals but only 60 of them were league goals !!!! x

nobody in football history or future will beat that , i mean ronaldo 39 goals in a season no way as good as our old dixie

    we miss u dixie u

  • @ElleLovezEverton4Eva OK, the guy was a LEGEND but hearing people say they "miss" him just leaves me confused. Unless of course they're 80-90 years old...

  • @sunlioness1 well if you were an Evertonian attending games at Goodison, you would know that he has always regularly attended games and was well known by the Everton fans...so you could say they miss him on Saturdays...

  • @ElleLovezEverton4Eva he was not even the best player in that everyon team it was t.g jones dixie says himself

  • @ElleLovezEverton4Eva Pele is the best player of all time and he was very close to Dixie he scored 58 goals in a season (in the league)

  • @ElleLovezEverton4Eva Modern football defence is far more superior than that of the older times. During these times, teams were using mostly 2-3-5 formation, it meant that teams would try to score more than concede. Many footballers of that era scored way more than the number of appearances they made. The concept of defender was really raw.

  • @lordvivec87 actually none of the top scorers of that era or any other consistently scored at more than a goal a game. Not Dean, not Rowley, Gallacher, Greaves none of them. Of all the top scorers in Football League history Dean in the only one who scored at more on 0.8 per game. Statistically he is unarguably the greatest goalscorer in FL div 1 history.

  • @tigerarmyrule please stop being so nerdy hes the best! full stop.

  • R.I.P dixe dean the greatest everton player in history

  • fkn unbelievable great song ;)))

  • Damn i really like this song

  • Comment removed

  • typical Kopite

    YOUR NOT FROM LIVERPOOL

  • You know nothing of football, and you are probably a redshite anyway. The guy is a legend just as Best, Greaves, and Moore was.

  • haha if i could choose a dream team of players of any age, dixie would deffently be one of them, DIXIE THE GREAtEST EVER!
