The Wizard's Well is intriguing, but Holy Well appears to come from underground, meaning the water should be sandstone-filtered and have extra copper. If this well is ancient (which is possible), the water should have been amongst the best in Cheshire for purity and safety in medieval times. The Edge is mysterious and much has been found there. (The tally includes six gold bars from an ancient artifact, a wooden shovel and a bag of Roman coins. The shovel and coins should not have survived.)
Thank you for this. The Weirdstone has been a favourite of mine since I was 14. I'm reading it again right now, actually. my brother (also an Alan Garner fan) was here a couple of months ago in pouring rain and, folowing my sms'd instructions from Oz, had a wonderfully muddy wander round the edge! Thanks again.
Thanks for reading out the writing!! When i went there this summer, i just could not figure out what it said!

(Almost forgot to add: this is the best Alderley Edge video on Youtube, and one of the best shorts on Youtube not done by a professional group.)
