  • Hey dragonsoda maybe you get poor gas miles bc your a faggot that drives a dodge neon. Cough cough homo

  • what's with the gay gloves

  • you could have snugged that another quarter inch...

  • so if it is thigther it will spend more gas???

  • bullshit it saves u money my ass here is a story for u peolpe i own a 2000 neon i also did the throttle performance and let me tell you it does work but you eat gas like a mutha fucka i put 40 bucks in gas and had a full tank of gas i go for a little ride i get back home half of tank i was told my a fuccilo mechanic you throttle is not made to open all the way its only made for quarte way and the reason is simple saves gas... so dont tighten cables...im not look at the price of gas$4.03 a gallon

  • Would it work on my 03 Infiniti G35?

  • Nice video. One of the smartest (original) honda mechanics in the net. Does know what he's talking about when it comes to cars. :)

  • LOL. So how much more performance in the 1/4 mile will this give an integra?

  • @EricTheCarGuy Thanks man... Now if I can find out how to unclogg my catalytic converter....

  • @STREETRACEN4U if your experiencing lack of power from your engine and reduced flow when you put your hand over the tail pipe pipe while someone revs the motor then i would suspect a clogged converter. generally the repair for this is to replace the converter. i guess you could cut the converter out of your exhaust and rip its guts out then weld it back into your exhaust system but in some places thats illegal

  • @ziprock ya, its been like that for a while now i have had no power what so ever. i go super slow and its very bad, i stalled out today it was that bad. but tommoro i am getting it fixed im getting a new catalytic converter for cheap hopefully and a new exhaust pipe and somebody i know is going to put it on for cheaper then a muffler shop would put it on for. also theres no e-check over where im at so it dont matter. but thanks for your help! i cant wait tilll ths is fixed!!

  • this will work with any mechanical throttle body or carburetor right?

  • sometimes when i push on the gas pedal and let off the engine keeps going....does this mean the throttle is sticking?

  • @wheaterfly yes

  • hey guys, i recently got my Civic running which has a carb on it, and it will idle then speed up and slow down without pressing on the gas pedal, backfire and then it will stall. What is causing this?

  • just open up your headers

  • @TeenIronMan how do you "open up" your headers?

  • @suzukiholdenman ok remove your headers? you know what i meant idk why you had to be a little chode.

  • @TeenIronMan sorry bro? i actually came here looking for "free mods" and i didn't know that for a start, no need to call me a chode over something like that, just chill, yeah?

  • @suzukiholdenman ahhh my bad i thought you were being a little chode, its ok

  • that is not an upgrade. it is an adjustment or more often called "tuning." Upgrade is a swap for a product of better specification.

  • typical honda owners just to so call gain power= take off power steerting and a/c last but not least cruise control. honda ppl you make so sick !

  • subscribed

  • Great title! Got my attention. I also love your editing and effects. I've had such fits with my editing software thinking I'm a pirate I've all but given up.

  • more of maintenance and not a performance upgrade, that being said, you have great and informative videos... keep up the good work

  • @eric i have a 98 saturn sl1(sohc) and the throttle cable looks madd tight from what i can remember. from the top of the throttle body it does not have a long extended cable like yours do. its very small. i dont hink it was never messed with since the car was made, so if i chk the tension and its tooo tight should i loosen it to give a lillte slack?

  • @eric. hmmm now i gotta investigate. sometimes when i gas from a light the car kinda drags during take off for the first 3-4 seconds then smooths out (foot still pressed on gas pedal unitl it smooths out), then once that happens and i let up off the gas. slowing down the car idle surges from 1-1200 then slowly comes bakk down to 0.( sometimes jerk to a stop). do u think its a vac leak, or throttle cable?

  • I really like your videos. That engine needs some WD40 sprayed on that aluminum and that throttle cable stuff.

  • Where do u gain horsepower

  • @05greendmax lets the throttle move better i guess.. idk how it works but i did that on my dakota and i got like 1 or 2 mpg better, i was surprised, its weird

  • DA9 Integra<3 I have one myself.

  • My 2000 silverado has no slack on the throttle body side, but inside of the truck the pedal can be pulled forward (towards the driver) about an inch and you can see the cable stay the same length. Idk how to adjust the inside part because it has a crimp to keep the end of the cable from going through the pedal end and loosing throttle.

  • I just did this and, I gotta say, it's goddamn noticeable.

  • cool im subing teach me more car god lol got any vids on how to get more torque for free

  • Upload date is on my birthday :D

  • I like this guy and scottkrimer. IM subscribing!!!!

  • @beatzfromchicago i agree there both the bomb

  • I HOPE THIS IS WHATS WRONG WITH MY CAR! this thing barely tops 65 mph on the highway and 45mph if its windy out.

  • The butterfly probably wasn't going fully wide open either.

  • $0.00 is to much money

  • great video although my car does not have this problem i never thought of this

  • its good for auto trannys cause the tranny thinks all that slack is you trying to down shift thuss wearing your tranny out and poorer fuel economy

  • i had to get 3 guys to do this, it cost me 10 bucks a piece for a helper, i thought this was no cost.

  • @TheJoeWin how many people did you use to count the money?

  • You are amazing!

  • I heard if you put as many stickers as possible on an integra, it makes it faster

  • lol faggot ? says the one who wants to make his shitty cavalier faster with autozone parts ...fucken ricer

  • this is not a performance upgrade! this is general maintanence wth...

  • 2:49 So does that mean I can't make the throttle response quicker by only tightening up the throttle cable, if I have an automatic? I have to do more stuff?

  • Hey Eric, thanks for the great tip!

I am used to working on my car, since I am a DIY kind of guy, but I totally forgot about something so simple... My car is much more pleasant to drive now!

  • my 95 tercel has a little jerk when it goes into 2nd gear. This is an automatic and the car only has 45,000 miles all the other gears shift fine, its just the first into second that jolts you a little. Any idea what it could be?

  • How would that be a f22 it's an integra looked alot more like a b series intake

  • I love this guy.

  • Nice video, good tip. Is that an F22?

  • Awesome video. Funny guy too, lol.

  • Honestly, performance upgrade is kind of misleading. This is more like, maintenance. That wire should be replaced if it has so much slack, not re-tightened. After having to push my car 4 blocks to a safe spot to leave it at because my throttle cable snapped at night, on a Sunday... I rather be safe than sorry, I also carry a spare in my trunk.

    Good video though.

  • @perrota88 You carry a spare throttle cable in your trunk? Hmmmm......Do you keep it next to your spare fuel injector or your spare spark plug wires?

  • @perrota88 why not just carry a spare car if things are that bad

  • Good tip for my 94 Corolla wagoon.

I liked the cash register "Ka-Ching!" @ 0.32. Nice touch!

    Thanks, again, Eric.

  • @oHaixD none........

  • older car Throttle cable > Fly by wire

  • I thought you were going to add another buffer to the maf sensor or solder resistors after a thermistor. :\

  • I have a 95 Mustang GT but my cable its different from the video :(

  • I think mines is too tight, when I let off the brake I'm being launched. I think the mechanic did this.

  • on my ranger i put a couple zip ties before the end of the cable after the gas pedal and it does the trick

  • its actually.." Stay thirsty my friends."

  • yeah my dad adjusted my throttle cable. because when the computer slows the idle down to 750-650 rpm in park. i put the transmission in drive, as soon as the gears connect. the idle goes down to 450rpm and then stalls. so my dad adjusted the cable. idles at 999 rpm in park and idles at 750 rpm in drive. and the throttle response is great. no problem at all. CharlesDeCapua

  • no we need that, u save gas :D

  • now i cant wait for my car to get old so i can do this! ahhh wait a minute... electronic throttles :( LOL

  • so if im drive by wire im good?

  • It's not a performance upgrade RICER!! Ur car won't get any faster

  • @Geeze104 Performance doesn;t simply mean more horsepower, it can also mean how the car performs. Throttle response could certainly be considered part of a car's performance. Good job showing how little you know, Go back to your cold air intake and loud muffler.

  • @Geeze104 he might be a ricer cuz he drives a honda but it was useful some people may have poor idle cuz of this or your sometimes you can push your pedal all the way down and your throttle might not open all the way cuz of this

  • I LOVE YOU! :D and I don't even have this problem. Just been checking out your vids and feeling smarter by the second...all that and a nice fat SUB.

  • Hey dude- My Hyundai Getz has a really sensitive gas pedal- Really Jerky when going slow- so do you reckon this will work if i do it the other way so i get less of a response from the pedal? Please answer :)

  • @TheWormGranny You might want to check for carbon build up around the throttle body as that could cause the throttle to stick and cause that problem. See the video I did on cleaning throttle bodies for more info.

  • @EricTheCarGuy what could i do to increase hp in my 1999 cavalier 2.2 l v4 ? i put a glass pack on it, I'm thinking about a cold air intake and open headers, what do you suggest?

  • @austinbanister what the fuck...

  • @austinbanister wtf is a V4 i didnt know Chevy made V4's go learn the basics before you want more hp on a cavalier( rice)

  • @rizegraymon1 Moron i ment I4, rice? I'm 17 i race it on dirt, go troll somewhere else faggot.

  • @austinbanister lol you sound like you know absolutely nothing about vehicles.. Is this true? If so you should do private research so you don't make yourself look like a jackass on public "forum-like" post such as youtube comments... (I'm not trying to be a dick but might come off that way)

  • @down3rc0w69 Yeah i know knotting, maybe you should do some research and look at my videos before you say that..

  • @austinbanister lol maybe you should just take my advice :p

  • never remove ur cat if u have a newer car ittl fuck up the running of ur car

  • SUBSCRIBED.

  • @mickblock Thank you!

  • I never wold have thought to include this adjustment as a maintenance item! SUBSCRIBED.

  • @mickblock Glad you liked the video, thanks for the sub.

  • would this work with 90's Topaz/Tempo?

  • @ASS3464 If you're able to adjust the cable tension yes.

  • LOL, I did this to my dads 95' Accord v6. Cables, the good ole days.

  • @celsorod The idle was too low to allow the A/C compressor to stay on..I fixed it myself, Shop down the street assumed it needed a new compressor.yay

  • good video but it should be adjusted with the engine on to be able to hear if you tighten it to much

  • @scarheadification I don't think that's necessary but thanks for your input.

  • Wow. I just put my CRX in storage and wish it were out to check it. This will be one of the first things I will do when taking it out. You have any vids on how to get better pedal for your breaks. Everything is fine, pads, calipers, etc. it's not a soft pedal, but you just have to go down farther then normal to get good brake.

  • @tigergreg8 bleed the brake lines. easy and very cheep and is a maintinece thing aswell so you wont be wasting time or money

  • @tigergreg8 Steal braided brake lines, nuf said.

  • It surprises me how car mechanics very often have very old cars. Do they just not make them as good anymore?

  • @Falewick They want cars that are reliable, economical and relatively easy/cheap to fix. They also want the same from their loaner cars normally too. Our old mechanic had a beat-up Volvo loan car. It ran well though. Today I'd probably go with a Toyota/Honda/Mazda hatch, but some people don't like smaller cars to drive around in.

  • @Falewick No it's mostly because we're broke and cheep. Besides you loose a lot of money buying a new car in depreciation.

  • cant thank you enough dude...my throttle was about as twice as loose as the one in the vid was, now my throttle is back to normal and it feels better to drive again

  • @666TECHNO666 Good to hear it, thanks for the comment.

  • im gonna check my cable tomorrow, ive been noticing the cars not picking up as quick as it used to, this might be the problem

  • @Motorchevytoyota I love it when my videos help people, thanks for the comment.

  • I got the little turn screw on my chevy. It's really easy but still a nice option. I thought my motor was shot till i did a tune up and look at the cable pretty much dangling.

  • @josh666675 Yea it's amazing at how much of a difference this makes.

  • @EricTheCarGuy I was suprised in the performance difference. I don't know if you know but I'm pretty sure you do that the 5.7 350's are notorious for the intake manifold leak. That's what I'm working on right now too. I'm in no big rush. First time i did it had everything unplugged and labeled in about 25 minutes took brackets and plates out of way and got the intake off in about 45 minutes. I don't think that's bad at all for being a 1st timer at it.

  • @EricTheCarGuy Is the problem that there is so much slack that you can never reach WOT?

  • This is bull shit

  • Comment removed

  • remove the cats(catalytic converter) more hp and better gas mileage

  • @000x7 I do NOT recommend this.

  • @000x7 dude, thats just dumb. your exhaust will be fucked if you do that..not to mention all the harmful shit you put into the atmosphere by removing it

  • hehe, I could boost the horsepower "a bit" more if you want to try my Hydrogen system.

Turns out engines like Hydrogen. And the more gasoline you take out :-)

140 octane hydrogen doesnt detonate or hurt the engine either.. strange stuff

  • Just like my bike's brake cords!

  • thank you

  • @DeRex9 You're welcome.

  • eric i have an astro convertion van and i ripped the seats out and the carpet from the back that was attached to some wood any sugesttion on how to reinstall new carpet in the van only has front two seats i use it for a paper route

  • @keabler77 You might be able to just use regular carpet if you cut it to size.

  • i dont even needed a tool for this on my 316i

  • @Abydos3064 Sweet.

  • Eric the car guy.... Your my hero!

  • I wouldn't consider this an "upgrade" so much as a "repair."

  • srry eric that harsness was meant for rvnwingsful, but youtubes comments now suck as much ballz as this troll wannabe and i cannot repair, fix or modify my previous comment goodamn this to hell

  • why did i never think of this before?

  • @EricTheCarGuy my car didn't want to shift good, so I adjusted that cable, now my transmission makes a "thump" sound coasting to a stop; I think I ruined it

  • @Jx1x3 Like I said it's not an adjustment that normally is required. You might want to take it to a specialist to make sure the transmission really is the issue.

  • How can I do this to a 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.2. It has 3 cables and I can't find any place I could tighten it up

  • @fastodie It may not be possible as some are not adjustable but you might look in the service manual to see if there is a procedure for this you can follow. Good luck.

  • @rvnwingsful Cool and English major, looks like your using your degree to better the lives of others, well done.

  • @EricTheCarGuy throttle response is performance u beligerant asshole!

  • @rvnwingsful Oh, you fucking moron, all that slack you saw was taking up throttle response. So he'd have to move the gas around 15% JUST to increase idle. Typical youtube audience.

  • Comment removed

  • i did this adjustment on my nissan last week and the throttle is much more responsive! cool!!

  • @slickman911 Yea it's kinda neat isn't it?

  • did you ever make a vid of the transmission cable?? I want to adjust mine since my transmission is starting to clunk. 96 teg

  • @Jx1x3 I haven't yet as I don't own that car anymore but when I get the chance I will as that's been requested a lot as of late for some reason. BTW that adjustment should only need to be made if you are removing the transmission, otherwise don't mess with it as you could damage the transmission if you don't do it correctly.

  • Dude...

    1. This is not an upgrade, it's called maintenance...

    2. Wish you would try to keep your engine as clean as your hands...

  • DAMN YEA you Now got 500 horses under the hood !

  • @zloben9000 Nice.

  • @trucalispeed707 Move to a dry climate where they don't use salt in the winter and away from salt in the air.

  • please post the video on how to adjust the transmission cable.....my 94 tegg is shifting late and flaring up (gears 2-3 3-4)....the service manual shows you how to adjust the cable but it is very hard to make out the pictures, thanks

  • @deGTbaiAKAryaud It's hard for me to fill requests because I need the same car to come in needing the same thing so it's not likely that I'll be able to make that video anytime soon. The procedure is pretty much the same as what is shown here jut with the throttle cable. Good luck.

  • @EricTheCarGuy That's ok i understand,...i was checking it out, and followed that same cable to the transmission, and i saw another throttle leaver (the thing that looks like a quarter of a circle). It seemed alittle slack because you have to move it alittle before you hear a click. But there isn't any thing to tighten it up, the only way to tighten it up is to tighten the same cable that you are talking about in this video, and if i tighten it up to remove the slack there, then the engine revs

  • Cable throttle , how primitive. Lol

  • This isn't a modification, its a repair.

  • @Coyote575 Don't worry it's not real, your in the matrix so go ahead and take the blue pill.

  • @Coyote575 its not a repair, its an adjustment.

  • DA motor!!

  • I also have a 20 year old Integra... Other than the timing belt that snapped a few days ago it makes a little pop sound when stop.

  • @akcessdenied I might check the engine mounts for that as well as the strut rods. I made a video on checking for suspension noises that you might want to check out.

  • @EricTheCarGuy I saw the video you did on the Acura with suspension noise which turned out to be a motor mount. The noise on my car went away. My motor mounts looked decent, I checked'em out when I was replacing the timing belt. I tightened up the nut on top of each strut and I don't hear it any more. So the timing belt is fixed, the little pop sound went away, I welded a small hole in the exhuast, and changed the oil in the tranny. Now to just wait for the next problem to come up.

  • @akcessdenied Sounds like your on top of it though. Thanks for the comments.

  • this is a cool video. wish i knew about this stuff when i had vehicles with a throttle cable. my f150 is electric

  • @timmypstyle Yea this tip is quickly becoming obsolete. Thanks for the comment.

  • @EricTheCarGuy still good info tho. always nice when someone posts useful stuff that saves people money.

  • Thumbs up if you love to tighten up your back nuts!

  • I love to tighten up my back nuts.

  • I love the dry humor...you should do stand up comedy. Seriously.

  • @brandon804va Only if I've had enough drinks, I get stage fright.

  • can u do this with a 98 cummins

  • @ThePaintball365 I don't know I've never tried it on one of those. Let me know what you find out.

  • you're the man dude

  • I'm gonna check my Datsun B210 in the morning. Thanks for the tip!!!!

  • Good shit dude! I would have never thought if doing that!! Now my camaro can smoke all those weak as "rustangs" lol!!!

  • @DJLayLow408 Have fun with that. :)

  • @DJLayLow408 do you have a v6 camaro?

  • So im running an older Camaro, adjusted the throttle valve cable to make it tighter, but no gains in performance. I assumed your doing the same so why do i not get results?

  • @Dabesiv This involves throttle response, if your throttle cable was already close to being tight then you won't see any gain.
