@thymen121 Dude, I'll just say this: Get your hands on the Witcher 1. Play it for a few hours and I DARE YOU to leave it and stop playing forever, if you can.

You'll devour it from start to end. It has amazing narrative and an impressive plot. The game is definately only for mature audiences, mainly due to its intricate plot and complex, dark characters. This game is a MASTERPIECE, good sir.

But I guess that someone who "hates reading books" can only see a boring game here...

It is just too linear for me. I think open world games with limited pre-scripted sequences and high AI are amazing achievements (having done some behavorial AI robot programming myself). But a game can be good that is linear, it really just puts a heavy burden on having an extremely involving story (FF7, Chrono Trigger).

@mshartz5 What's with Japanese RPG's? FF7's storyline is nowhere near as good as Planescape: Torment's. Sure, it might be original at first, but plotlines and situations repeat themselves constantly on these games. After you've finished 4 or 5 JRPG's, every new JRPG you play gives you a constant deja vu.

"High AI" as we understand it in games is not such a great achievement. Devs just apply existing algorithms adding different criteria. I can explain this in more depth if you are interested.

AI in games are similar to those used in robotics just without the use of sensors and engineering.

And Planescape Torment is a great game and wasn't too linear (more like Bldur's Gate). FF7 was much more linear.

@mshartz5 In games it's probably much easier than in robots, since you never get hardware-related bugs (robots can have a damaged sensor, for instance). AI in videogames is all about applying existing techniques. You don't need to have a guru in your company to make the game's AI. You just take and apply algorithms that are out there already. The trick is to apply them properly.

Yea but programming of the AI isn't really effected by hardware bugs since fixes are made to the hardware and not the program they are using. I agree that they use preexisting algorithms (so do robotic AI) but every algorithm must be tweeness and added to to make it work for each engine and each variable scenario. The thing is that most algorithms can be applied to both assuming the proper changes are made.

I recommend the Witcher 2. Dragon Age has the old DnD style of combat (like Neverwinter Nights, basically auto attack and click on spells like in an MMO) that I absolutely hate. The story is good in both and really the companions are what make DA great. I would still go for The Witcher 2 though. Your call, DA is probably cheaper now. So perhaps get that and wait for a price drop on The Witcher 2 ?

If u like assasins creed you will jizz when u play this game. I cant put into words how much passion and effort was used to make this game. Gameplay videos dont do it justice you have to play it yourself.

As for the combat system comparing the two Assasins creed is a piece of shit its too easy hold down block forever lmao invincible, in the witcher 2 is tactical, challenging and exciting. I would play the first one if you have the time in patience as it helps to understand shit.

Thanks for the advice. Indeed, AC is pretty easy technically. The hardest parts were the timed events I thought. Still not hard. They need to have different difficulty levels. I like playing FPS games on the hardest level so I get my moneys worth.

My only worry about Witcher is that if the controls are very different from AC I might get frustrated and therefore not jizz at all. I might get blue balls

when you play this game remember to play it twice because the story is completely non linear, multiple progression paths depending on your choices. On a second playthrough there will be content which was previously unaccessable even an entire town can be missed out on. bahhh stfu and buy this game already its soo good i waste my time trying to convince people to play it.

Polish studio CDProject Red surpassed Bioware in creating rpg games. To be honest Dragon Age II was a completely failure. The Witcher 2: The Assassins of Kings is at the moment the best rpg game of the year.

@IndianaHenryJones20 I agreed, we just have to wait for elder scroll: Skyrim, if they can't deliver a game any better than the witcher 2. Oblivion was ok, great by name but not a good rpg. The Witcher 2 has raised the bar on what a good rpg should be and so far for me it deliver. It's a pitiful ending for bioware being top dog in the rpg genra at least with dragon age series unless they can make the game better in the 3rd part. Even the story for dragon age 2 was not that impressive at all.
