Yes it is a ceremony called Karthigai Deepam. there are videos of this ceremony on utube. Quoting from AgasthiarAshram: "This event occurs every year on the Krittika nakshatra day of the Karthigai month in the November/December timeframe.

The deepam jyoti is lit in fond remembrance of the Arunachala avatar as an infinite pillar of light - the light of knowledge dispelling the darkness of ignorance and arrogance."

Great video. Incredible footage from Arunachala and the great Shiva temple. Don't worry about the quality. The sound is good, the picture is crystal clear. It is a little "shaky", but still ok.
