Actually if you listen the pedal box only gives the mic an Echo, he Does use his own voice to distort the mic and stay on beat at the same time... That is how he's able to talk, without having the speach be distorted and the sound continues on but sounds he made never stopped with the instrument and the voice, at the same time.
