  • I was there when the mauling happened the couple saw the bear twice with its cubs and kept going. I know a lot about bears and picture this a huge monster is atacking your kids what are you going to do? this is how the bear saw it she was just protecting her cubs. peper spray is the best way to protect yourself spray it in the bears nose thats their weak spot .this is kind of the love part before he got mauled the husband told the wife "save your self id rather die than you get hurt run"

  • "...and tourists flock to see them". Years ago I did a 10 day backpacking trip in an area in the Rockies with the highest density of grizzlies in Canada. It took a bit effort to summon the nerve to go in there alone without even bear spray. The last thing I wanted was to see a grizzly--lol. Fortunately, I had no bear encounters.

  • Yellowstone is one of the most beautiful places in the USA, along with Glacier, Grand Tetons and Zion National Parks and Ceder Breaks National Monument.

  • i love yellowstone it's so pretty there.

  • DONT HUMANS ALSO ATTACK AND KILL OTHER HUMANS? WHATS SO SPECIAL WHEN A WILD ANIMAL DOES IT? NOTHING! IT SHOULD EVEN BE NORMAL. NOT FOR HUMANS THOUGH

  • @jimm3ronn true

  • I think you should run like hell when you see a grizzly bear charging towards you, instead of playing dead. And if possible try to climb a tree. I live in australia, and the only animals that try to eat you are dingoes and crocodiles.

  • The bear probably felt she needed to protect her cubs. Anyway, people who get's close to Wild life deserve to die if they do die. People who shoots the bear for killing someone who deserve to die is just bad manners.

  • @MrTirien true

  • Not all Pepper Spray is created equal. I recommend "Inferno brand" Pepper Spray which has a foaming action & adds Black Pepper to induce sneezing which draws more spray into the nose & mouth. Remember that it can take 10 or 15 seconds to fully work.

    Google: Inferno brand Pepper Spray

  • @yobro250,

First of all, I never advocated machine guns; I'm more of a Pepper Spray kind of guy.

Second, there have been many bear attacks than you are stating.

    Google: North American bear attacks.

  • It's not a Park where you go walk your dog people!

this is Yellowstone. Why are people so stupid?

I'm not an animal rights activist...but going into bear country without a shotgun or rifle is stupid. At least carry bear spray.

  • @79Testo LOL well 1st they shouldnt walk where they are bears LOL

  • @MissCedarbridge1

You can't blame our granola loving friends who think they are owed a trail to walk on anywhere they please in nature.

  • @79Testo shit its there fault the sign is up so they still walk that path they see the bear and they still stand and chat like wow look guys its a bear let say hi to the pretty bear so when the bear see them he say dam trespasser they always coming on my land ill teach them

  • @MissCedarbridge1

    lol...

    you single hun?

    you sound really hot!

  • @79Testo LOL yes I am single and as for being hot looking please dont tell me that cause Im sick and tired of hear that from men on the train or bus okay

  • @MissCedarbridge1

    single here too!

    lol

    write and keep in touch!

  • @MissCedarbridge1 Ahhh....it's called hiking in the wilderness. They were here before we came to this land. I have hiked and backpacked in bear country before and it's not that bad. It's not like bears come looking for people all the time.

  • @othrower74 duhh still white fokes shouldnt enter bears play ground why dont they hike in the ghetto

  • That does it next time I go into a national park I will bring a shot gun with me and I will shot any fucking bear that charges but keep him alive long enough to see his little precious cub be skinned alive - humans can be just as wild.

  • @pac6010 "Thats why I don't like the whole Yellowstone tourist appeal, it just begs for stuff like this to happen."

Stop being an over-dramatic pussy..Their has been ONE fatal attack in the last 25 YEARS in the Yellowstone area..If u think thats a significant danger to "stop the tourist appeal" than you are just a cowardly bitch..Falling coconuts kill 300 people EACH year

The chances you die from Bear attack in Yellowstone are 1/100th of 1 percent...Grow some balls and accept the minute risk

  • july 7 it says it was uploaded on july 6 wtf

  • I am so sorry for your aunt and uncle ........that was a brave thing to do for his wife please disregard all the ignorant posts as they clearly dont have any idea how tramatic this was ...again im sorry

  • Comment removed

  • @Goldenchild795 It was my uncle. He did it to save his wife. He told her to run and he saved her

  • @pac6010 It's not a dangerous thing to be in the wilderness as long as you maintain the same respect for the animals' house (no pun intended) as you would expect a visitor to have in your house. I agree with there being a responsibility here.

This couple was irresponsible. The man had hiked this trail the day prior to his death without his wife, and saw the bear and her cubs. The responsible thing would have been to let them be. Instead he brought his wife and camera the next day.

  • pretend tobe dead in front of 600+kgs grizzly? no wonder u from america dumb fucks

  • Yogi bear :P

  • @YannaStengos Well that's kinda hard seeing as how we both live on the same planet and like the same areas lol. I don't really prescribe to that whole stay away from nature thing because we are nature, we belong in the woods just as much as bears do. Its just if you are gonna choose to do these kinds of activity's out in the wild you have to take it as a responsibility and not just a fun thing to do. You should always be aware of what can happen and be prepared for it. That's my opinion anyways.

  • 25 years streak loss

  • Guys it was a mother bear it was the humans fault he was tresspassing on her territory and we just need to accept the facts That sometimes a human will die to a bear theres nothing to it it doesent matter and if they put her down they will be killing innocent cubs that didnt do anything but watch

  • I was at the park when this happens but i never new this happened.

  • @Twn1018 thats sad

  • Sad story but it happens, both of them shoulda had guns on them and been trained to use them. Never walk without a gun in grizzly country, that should be a law not just common sense. Shit even if you have a gun you still may not have a chance but still, no excuses for that. Thats why I don't like the whole Yellowstone tourist appeal, it just begs for stuff like this to happen.

  • @pac6010 And leave cubs orphan?you sicken me

  • @vulpix556 so they can protect themselves. you sicken me.

  • @pac6010 Or just carry some bear mace, and not kill the mother bear..........

  • @DukeNukenum People always assume if you use a gun that means someones gonna die, 90% of the time when you pull a gun on a human or animal its for defense, not to kill something. In the case of the human they see they gun and back down, in the case of the bear, you shoot a couple shots and they Usually run away, even pissed off mothers. Just because you choose to have a gun,. doesn't mean you are automatically gonna kill the threat. But if you had too, you have that capability.

  • people keep saying the guy was just stupid for hiking there, i was there the day after, and what people dont realize is he could've gotten away, but he died saving his wife...

  • yogi's wife strikes again!!!

  • bears usually attack when you surprise them and come out of nowhere.

  • If a bear stares at you don't even think about looking at their eyes because they will attack again.

  • Hint: Play died until the bear is gone

  • I have spent my entire life in Yellowstone. Here are the facts, unbiased. The couple were only a mile from the road, which is unusual for this particular sow (momma bear) since she is normally a backcountry bear and not used to people anyways. The hikers came out of the trees into a meadow and DID see her, so they turned around. Unfortunately, mistake #1: NEVER turn your back on a bear, just slowly back away.

  • i thought i was watching the onion

  • hell if yogi bear wants his pic a nic basket you should give it to him

cause remember his smarter then the average bear

  • yogi went rambo

  • yogi got pretty damn pissed off

  • Human beings have every right to enjoy the great outdoors! I shit on all you little "Greenie" brainwashed wind-up dolls. You know nothing!

  • @thrummer1953 I agree....But its also equally retarded to think Bears are dangerous killing machines and you need to come strapped with a machine gun when hiking when this is the FIRST fatal bear attack in 25 YEARS....ONE fatal attack in the last 25 years...That is absolutely nothing

Ticks in the North East( where a very high % of them carry disease) are a WAY bigger threat to outdoors-men than bears.

  • GIVE the bears space dammit they are in their natural habitat and we have taken all of their natural hunting grounds and you get these results when you take you ass into thier world, The unfortunate thing is they will probabley kill 20 bears because of this attack. LEAVE THE BEARS ALONE!

  • @Krylogenic You're a douche. Don't talk about things you don't know about. They aren't going to kill a bear that was protecting a perceived threat to her cubs.

  • @Krylogenic I agree with you FREEDOM FOR BEARS

  • This bear reminds me of Casey Anthony/.

  • Dumb city people walked up to a Grizzly with cubs

  • On the unrelated news: Several pelts of unknown brown fur is scheduled to go on sale next week.

  • Bears will not kill humans, think about that. D.

  • To put this in perspective, see all the videos on YouTube of bears being shot for entertainment by "sportsmen." You can bet that right-wing punks are itching to track that bear and kill it for "revenge," even though it was just acting on instinct.

This is a tragedy for the man who was killed, and his family, but in the larger picture, Man does far more damage to other species than vice versa. The total body count of bears killed by Man vs. the converse renders the human deaths almost nil.

  • @Antithropocentric Revenge has nothing to do with it. Its about saving a person in the future from being killed by an aggressive animal(but that does not appear to be the case here). What does the larger picture have to do with anything? Are you saying a bears life is equal to a persons life? If not, whats the point of body count comparisons.

  • lol at ABC trying to use an extra violent image of the bear... uck outta here! stay out the forest people... Now these fools will track and kill the bear for chillin in her own forest.. insane!!

  • He was pissed about the oil spill. Can't say I blame him. The fish in that river were some good eats while they lasted.

  • that bear has a taste for man flesh and its going to have to be put down unfortunatly. there might be a backlash like there was for steve irwins stingray attack and i can see small minded red necks going out and killing bears.

  • The bears know how you treat children, so no way are you getting near theirs.

  • should of had a gun with them, I'm guessing they were nice liberals out hugging the trees.

  • It is against the Law to carry firearms in national parks to protect yourself...ROFL

Once again society and their stupid laws and unnecessary deaths...it goes on and on and on.

pro tip....stay away from national parks....unless you wanna die. Society and their ignorant laws ,...they set us all up to be slaughtered like sheep. Pepper spray? lol...sometimes it might work...but I would not bet my life on it

You enter Yellowstone you are part of the food chain...nuff said

  • @MatrixFactoryGuy Actually pepper spray works very well with bears. A bears nose is 7 times more sensitive than a blood hounds. If i could only have spray or a gun i would gladly take the pepper spray. You shoot a bear and its adrenaline will kick in even more and will probably kill you before it dies itself. The sound of a gun can scare a bear away but ive heard it can attract bears as well cause they learned a gun shot usually means an animal carcass somewhere.

  • @MatrixFactoryGuy - 1 person died in 25 years and the park probably gets million of visitors a year. They don't need every idiot in the park shooting bears because the risk of attack is small. If you are too scared to go through a park without a gun stay at home.

by the way the car ride to the park has way higher odds of being killed or insured in an accident, than bite by a bear.

  • i hope they kill this killer bear now!

    that poor family

  • @Ulansananelan Bears don't attack because they think, "I'm bored so I'mma go kill someone." They do it to protect themselves, much like many of us would if we were threatened. I'm not trying to be rude... I'm just a bear freak

  • use your back pack? really?

  • @RyanTheBrokerTV ya. bears are VERY intelligent, but once they get in predator mode or aggressive they focus on one thing and if you can get that one thing to be your back pack and not your neck you will be much better off.

  • Should've given Yogi his picnic basket.

  • I'm glad to see there are still grizzlies in the US. They used to be everywhere in the US. If you dont want to get attacked, dont go where they are.

  • @mogilny89p

Don't go where they are? Geez, that solves everything on Earth. I guess no one should go outside then, might as well live in a sanitize bubble to keep bacteria, viruses, and diseases from infecting us. I mean it may help.

  • @CremeBruleeAndFlan He's just an idiot...Like I said ONE fatal bear attack in the last 25 years....It is MUCH more dangerous to hike in Connecticut where their are Lyme Disease carrying ticks everywhere than in Yellowstone where their are Bears...Not even a comparison...ONE fatal bear attack in the last 25 years....That is such a minute risk...Where as hiking in Connecticut is a big risk in the summer....or going on an African safari without taking Malaria pills...an enormous risk....Etc

  • @mogilny89p Or just take basic precautions and accept that their is a SLIGHT risk you may be attacked...Bears do not kill many people at all...They are way less likely to attack than Crocodiles, Big cats, Elephants etc...Like the description says....1 death in the last quarter century is nothing....They just aren't very dangerous animals at all if left alone and basic precautions are followed...Much less dangerous than many other large animals which kill hundreds/thousands of people EVERY year

  • ok cool
