This man knows enough to be dangerous. He didn't have to completely disassumable the mine to safe it. He didn't have on protective equipment on. There were people around him (with childern). The way he dug up the mine was incorrect. He was putting pressure on the pressure plate (the mine was upside down). If you want see the correct way to uncover and disarm a mine, go to 1uxoweaver.
@1uxoweaver It's interesting how this guy dug the past 40,000 to 50,000 mines and have not yet to have any problem that would jeoparize the life of others that surround him, yet he has done it the incorrect way! Amazing to me. I was in the US military and I know for sure that, that's not how you handle those darned things. Still...Bravo to Aki!
unless i am mistaken he does not do this anymore? i think the government told him he could not due to his not being a 'professional.' but now i think he trains people to do this as part of the official government/ngo effort. i'm not sure, i was at his museum last winter and that's what i think i remember from his story as it was explained. look it up online, don't trust my memory. if you ever get to visit angkor wat, be sure to hire a ride half an hour to his museum and orphanage.
i am sure he can do this with eyes closed, but he is not registered, if he is he can teach too many people and Cambodia can get clean in 3 5 years. still waiting over a million mine under ground.
He's a pro, hop off his jock.
