His biographies of Paine, Jefferson and Orwell are damp, ephemeral squibs that add nothing to their subjects. God is not Great is littered with errors and non sequitur insults; Dennett is a much better anti-theist philosopher. He wasn't an original journalist; he didn't innovate like Mencken or Orwell. Clive James is a much better essayist and journalist and deserving of awards.

His literary journalism is fine; his interpretation of Augie March by Saul Bellow is as good as anything Martin Amis composed. But his political judgements were swayed by a youthful Trotkskyism he never grew out of.

I know very little about Christopher Hitchens, but as a young person, I can definitively say that he gives me infinitely more hope about the world than religion or God ever could in a million years. I don't know if I've ever felt this before, but watching that video actually made me proud to be a human being.
When I heard that Hitchens is coming to Texas I book a flight and am so glad I did.
I am deeply saddened but according to his brother, he was already in a lot of pain. It is too bad he died in a Texas hospital when he wished to go back to his beautiful place in D.C.

I know very little about Christopher Hitchens, but as a young person, I can definitively say that he gives me infinitely more hope about the world than religion or God ever could in a million years. I don't know if I've ever felt this before, but watching that video actually made me proud to be a human being.

When I heard that Hitchens is coming to Texas I book a flight and am so glad I did.
I am deeply saddened but according to his brother, he was already in a lot of pain. It is too bad he died in a Texas hospital when he wished to go back to his beautiful place in D.C.
He has great friends and admirers around the world who are mourning like I do. What a sad time!

We have a saying in our house, that's to be used when looking for that extra bit of courage, it's "find your inner Hitch". He's such a brave guy and it's incredibly sad to see him like this. I hope he realises what impact he has had on freethinkers like me.

With advancement in science and technology this is easy to persuade people and convert them into fanboys, but at the core you still can't be absolutely sure that god doesn't (or does) exist. @mykebulvai First of all, they don't try to disprove the existance of any god(s). What they are trying to do is to show that there are no reasons to believe in it and to show how religion can be harmful to society.
Second, what do you mean with "wait it out"? Do you mean that we after death will know for sure? If there is no afterlife we will never know for sure and you've already established that there is no way to prove or disprove the existance of a god.

Its just so happen 15-20% agrees with him. There are medical reasons to circumcision, but not all agrees. Again, that is his opinion which I do shared. Obviously he got a thing or two about religions so its obvious he would attack anything religious. Why? because religions are always forcing upon you. Jehovah's witnesses, people telling you end of the world(Harold Camping) and threatening people with fairy tales hell. Tobacco and liquor, its your choice.
