Finally, I think I identified the voice singing this... It sounds like Richard "The Belz" Belzer!! He's in the bit called "The Dealers'. (AND... We share the same birthday too, but not the same year. lol)
"shit, we still have a spare can of film, oh well let's get this guy into a pink suit to dick around in public hassling people and we'll stick it at the end of this otherwise brilliant film" such was the spirit of the 70s
I believe this was the beginnings of the Blues Brothers with Chevy Chase starring in this moving. Notice how the dancing resembles John Belushi's strutting?

We know what both Chevy Chase and Richard Belzer went on to after this movie,.. but what els has this Ken Shapiro guy done since ? He was evidently quite a tallent.
@spiderkiss Really? Because I always see his credits as the Lead Engineer for the Oscar's show. Maybe he still works as tech crew, and owns the shop as full time business?
@Skulldini He directed a lousy Chevy Chase movie "Modern Problems", and I saw his name in the credits for (I think) "TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes". Sad.
"Groove Tube" was the first of it's kind. I saw this in the theater twice. The crowd reacted like it was a rock concert! It deserves to be more well known than "Kentucky Fried Movie".
Are the sex olympics still part of this movie (BEST PART) i think.

In the 2012 remake, I understand the cop is going to taze him and charge him with interfering and resisting.

The person singing is Buzzy Linhart.

Today it's a bit cliched, but back in '74 doing this sort of "man on the street" sketch was unheard of. Truly ahead of its time.

This is wonderful, and oddly Colbert-esque.

Ah... 6th, and Park Ave North in the 70's...
It really was like that, stupid people acting like fools in the streets I mean!
I remember some dumbass in a pinksuit came up to my mother singing like this, and she slapped him in the face!

@Skulldini Sadly and shockingly, nothing. He never worked in TV/movies again. He has been running a book store in California for ages

This is from Groove Tube, Ken Schapiro et al.
His comedy troop did "Channel One" spoofs of TV broadcasting years ago, some of which were collected in the for sale Groove Tube.
Check out other crazy skits by these guys -- still hilarious!
