He is slow(can`t react fast),short(not good in air/not agressive type player),doesn`t develop intelligent passing. lucas has to go. alonso have to stay even though he is slow but he has the experience. barry is an ideal player to replace lucas because he got everything what lucas dont have. plus barry is more experience! after seeing twice, i began to realise mascherano has got a good burst of pace. he is so quick
he's got a bit of everything. he's got a good shot, a good pass, runs up and down the field. his defending is above average, he's got a good tackle and he used to attack a lot better than he does now for liverpool, and that's something i noticed. he's not making up plays like he used to.
from the games i watched, i only recall him having a great match(defensively) against inter. so maybe you're right not to put much faith on him right now.

He is slow(can`t react fast),short(not good in air/not agressive type player),doesn`t develop intelligent passing. lucas has to go. alonso have to stay even though he is slow but he has the experience. barry is an ideal player to replace lucas because he got everything what lucas dont have. plus barry is more experience! after seeing twice, i began to realise mascherano has got a good burst of pace. he is so quick

he's got a bit of everything. he's got a good shot, a good pass, runs up and down the field. his defending is above average, he's got a good tackle and he used to attack a lot better than he does now for liverpool, and that's something i noticed. he's not making up plays like he used to.
from the games i watched, i only recall him having a great match(defensively) against inter. so maybe you're right not to put much faith on him right now.
but give him time to try cope with the league.

His passes aren't special, his defence isn't better than Mascherano and he isn't that fast. You know the saying "jack of all trades mastered none." That applies on him. Lucas needs to master something soon. In today's match he had a good shot which reminded me of his goal against H&W FaCup match. Did he have a good shot when in Gremio? do you get my question?

lukas is still developing. he's not playing quite as well as he played in Gremio, so give him time.
besides, with this formation set-up that we've been playing (with gerrard as a second striker), it only leaves us 3 players(masch, xabi and lucas) for the two center mid positions.
don't know how good barry is though, don't really trust these videos on youtube, and i still haven't seen him play.

not really.. alonso is staying.. currently there is only 3 1st team midfielders. gerrard,mascherano,alonso. with barry, there will be 4.so this can create competition in midfield. right now alonso isn`t playing up to standard, because there is no competition in midfield. lucas sucks. he mainly of a squad player. sell lucas. he too small and slow for a premiership type.

2.englands best midfield? carrick & barry! carrick is without a doubt englands best passer of the ball. the fact he's considered a "holding" midfield is a myth, or rather a fucking joke! although he does have defensive qualitites. barry is almost the opposite. simply a great holding player, but also has that attacking instinct & technical ability that helps when attacking also, in particular in counter attacks. theyre both great, teachnically gifted, PROFFESSIONALS, who dont seek the lime light!

1.england has few palyers over all & in particular in central midfield, with any real technical ability. scholsey has been our best player full stop for the past 10 years. but he's gone :( gerrard is class, no question, but very english in that he's neither a pass master playmaker, a brick shit house holder, or a box to box mystro, he's kinda in between. lampard isnt worth mentioning, hargreaves isnt english! we have a lack of technical ability in the area of the pitch thats most important.....
