I actually used an image intensifier tube, formally used in the military.
I placed the watch hands directly on the receiving end of image intensifier tube, where the scintillations show up much brighter at the viewing end, and used an ordinary digital camera to take the movie of it.
I edited the video with Pinnacle Studio 14, especially to get the desired color and brightness, but it can be edited with Windows Movie Maker.
er how can you read the time from this? it doesn't look like real watch hands?

Look up "radium girls" and "wismut". The commercialisation of radio active substances is a very sad story.

people used to paint the needles with thin brushes, and usually they sharpen the tip with their tonges, very sad.
