@GimmeKitty Thanks so much! Wow, exact costs change so often. That's difficult to nail down. My brother in law lives on Oahu, and it's quite expensive. I'd check Craiglist for Oahu, and perhaps some online Hawaii newspapers. Good luck!

@CaliforniaTravelTips I'll make sure I get the ones you missed but there will be no way I can get them in a Vid in 4 mins, GREAT JOB...There is one more local Shaved Ice stop tucked away that all the locals go to @ The Aloha General Store. Also you have to stop at the Coffee Gallery right after Cafe Haleiwa. The best Shrimp trucks @ Macky's...I mean it was the winner of the Battle of the Northshore Shrimp Trucks"...Haleiwa Joes, Cholo's, Bonzi Sushi....ALL GREAT STOPS.

@WAYDESWORLDHAWAII Ah yes. Coffee Gallery is awesome! I love their haupia and purple sweet potato pie with the macadamia nut crust. One thing about keeping videos short is that you can't include everything. I'll give that sushi place a try. Sounds yummy!

I was there between 1995-1996....it was pretty decent. Was okay anyway all the way up to Makaha. I think you can blame the economy for the tents along the beaches. I was there because of an opportunity was presented---kinda hard to say 'no' to. I had some fun...but mostly just suriving. It was definitely and experience. And I do appreciate the local culture--just wish I had more time to learn more while I was there. Well...one of these days I might go back.

I did a quick thru of Haleiwa when I did my quick tour of Oahu. I lived in Waianae for about a year---was an interesting experience...though I didn't get to do much "touring".
