  • At 0:41, theres one note thats different than the others :

it ramps up in pitch in addition to volume (and then ramps back down).

    How did you achieve this?

    Tremolo? bended note? Other?

    Thanks for answering me!

  • i like your tone a lot.. what other kind of effects are on your board, just for curiosity and comparisons sake

  • I see you're using a preset, what are the values of the parameters? I just bought this little pretty machine yesterday so I'm not very into it, and I'm looking to recreate your awesome sound :(

  • "And The Mice Filled Elevator Dropped"

Really, I'm gonna rename my band like that :D

  • WAIT ! So you can loop with the Hazarai while you're using the effects from that same Hazarai ?

If it's possible, I'm gonna buy it this week for sure. I've seen the Akai Headrush E2, but it couldn't be used as a looper and a delay at the same time. So if I'm right, this Memory Man can do this ?

    Thank you for answering :)

  • hi supposing i've got a bass into one side of the stereo channel and a guitar or keyboard into the other each leaving the pedal toward its own amp. i sould be able to loop bass and hear the loop out of that amp and then play whatever over it with guitar or keys only if I tweaked any of the delay parameters then it would affect the looping bass. am i getting this correctly?

  • very sigur ros-esque. :)

  • @taesahn So you can record a loop and use the delay while the loop is playing back? o.O

  • @druxka yep

  • @askerex But you can't have delay within the loop.......... or can you? :O If yes I'm getting one of these RIGHT NOW! :P

  • @druxka Yeah, just chose your type of delay and then hold down the left footswitch to record your loop with delay.

  • This thing is the balls' period.

  • So you can overdub loops with this pedal?

  • Memory Man with Mohammed Karzai... don't worry it's kosher!

  • beautiful man, sounds like an old sigur ros soundscape!

    Ordered mine yesterday, can't wait!

  • really cool.. i think you just convinced me!

  • My DL4 just died and I'm looking at other options as a replacement. The thing I loved most about the DL4 was the ability to get extreme effects by playing with the delay time knob and others in real time. Does the SMMH give you this ability? Like making "Moon landing" type sounds.

  • well..check out my other vids on this toy...as far as the 'moon landing'...I haven't made it back to my practice space this week and I'm not certain. I believe so, but it still has some strange digital control artifacts when you change from setting to setting...the knobs 'reset'. But once they do...it can be made to do some very twisted things indeed.

  • Is that a wee pork loin tucked in the corner?

  • !pretty cool looping, that kind of gated slow attack in the beginning, is that a setting on the pedal or another effect?

  • volume swells on the guitar with a controlled multiple repeat delay from the Hazarai.

  • This or a akai headrush e2? im mainly looking for a looper

  • ...or a Line 6 delay? If you look past the delay options and tone...the choice becomes cost, personal preference and loop options. I like Hararai for the ability to add different delay effected tracks into the overdubs.

  • I think I like the memory man w/h most, i think the line 6 dl4 and jm4 are too expensive

  • It's amazing how it appears that you were able to change out of the looping mode as the loop was still playing (?)

  • Yes, you can start a loop with one delay effect on and then switch out to another effect while the loop continues playing. Pretty cool for a low cost looper, eh? It is one of the most intuitive pedals out there. I am still in love.

  • @taesahn haha I played with one for a while the other day and I wouldn't say it was quite as "intuitive" as i hoped but i look forward to learning. There are just so many options to keep track of! It's a sweet pedal

  • well...to me, it's a very easy pedal to get useful, intersesting sounds out of...even by mistake. Maybe even made better by mistake.

  • This video certainly sold me on the pedal. Turns the guitar into a whole other instrument.

  • lush. bought mine last week, can't wait til the postman arrives :-)

  • That's the same thing I said when the Kevin Costner film came out.

  • How many times can you overdub on this pedal? I'm quite curious about how it will sound on my saxophone. I hope the sound quality will be just half as clear is it is on your guitar, it sounds great!

I'm planning or buying this, the Akai Headrush or Boss RXL-20.

  • Endlessly. The Akai Headrush is really good for looping too. But find a used one of these and it will be your cheapest and most versatile choice.

  • Actually I have just bought the Electro Harmonix and I'm very satysfied with the machine, it's a great amount of fun and there are several featues yet to be explored.

But it doesn't seem to record endlessly. I have recorded about 10 overdubs but after that it didn't seem like, that I could record anymore. And that was a dissapointment.

  • helo i have a cuestion? Can i use this mashin with a microfon or drums plese a nide a anser?

  • It does not have a microphone input. If you have a mixing board, it can be run from that as an input source. But it's strictly a 1/4 input machine.

  • WOW that was bjútífúl!!

  • does it come with its own power adaptor?

  • yes, but it works with any standard 9v type...I'm using a Dunlop Power Brick to supply all my pedals.

  • man! you make the best review!

you really unleach the true power of this pedal!

I cannot thank you enough for posting this.

  • maybe having a vocal mic for the few talking part but I prefer just the playing and the bubles explanations, way more efficient...like they say:

    «less talking, more playing» lol!

  • should work.

  • can you tell me if this would be a good live pedal? im thinking of doing some solo work and want to do several riffs on top of each other while im on a stage with only my feet able to reach the pedal?

  • A limitation of this pedal is that you must use the white knob to switch delay types. There is no midi or remote switching. So if you are looping within a single sound...it would be fine. But if you want to use a variety of this pedals delays in the loop, you must reach down and select them by hand. Still...cost to sound...it's kind of worth working within the limitation.

  • thanks for the reply, sounds good to me. so kt tunstalls black horse and the cherry tree should be no problem then?

  • i saw kt tunstalls using an Akai headrush 2...

  • damn it!!! it sound sooooooooooooooooooo.... god

  • ..several racks of gear because he saves each effects setting he uses by adding the unit with the setting to his racks.

  • volume knob. U2...I find it does well, but several of his sounds rely on 'dotted 8th note' delays, so tapping a tempo on the fly can be troublesome. Do you know he has sev

  • Are you using a volume pedal or just your volume knob on your guitar? Also, how's this thing for doing u2 type stuff?

  • This. is. awesome..... I think i might end up getting this one! i already have an ebow, volume pedal, DD-7, and an overdrive pedal... this would give me some really sweet ambient sounds

  • I'm buying this pedal this afternoon..Ooh man...This is awesome...For a long time i wanted a delay pedal with looping capabilities..This is exactly what i had in mind..This video is fantastic..Nice peace of work...Thanks!

  • after you record something, can you save it and later turn it on again?

  • wow. just watching this again

    it SO good

  • I didn't understand one thing.

How could you loop, when you were on multitap mode?

I don't have the Hazarai. I'll probably buy one, though.

  • Ahh, but with this unit you can! It's the big selling point in my eyes. You can access the loop mode from any of the delay settings...and then switch to another setting and add to the loop. Cool, eh?( except, I think, the momentary reverse delay setting.)

  • Brilliant. I think you just sold EHX another unit.

    :P

  • I think the funniest thing is that for a while I was actually gonan get the Line 6 DL4 because it'd be about $100 cheaper used.....After seeing this video (and several others) I'm so glad my lack of funds kept me from making that mistake.

    Fantastic video!

  • Nice demo man. 5*

  • I've been wanting one of these pedals for a long time now. After seeing this I HAVE to get one. Nice work man.

  • It is one of Humankind's greatest failures that this video has only 1677 views. By far the best thing I've seen on YouTube in the last year. I am NOT kidding. This. Video. Equals. Fucking. Brilliant.

  • Sounds fucking beautiful. Great playing too. This video changed my opinion of this pedal completely. How long of a loop can you make?

  • Only 30 seconds...

  • 30 seconds is longer than any other delay pedal that goes as a secondary looper.

  • this is great man i love doing swells on my memory man, this sounds so good dude!

  • Fantastic!!!

  • You are the first person in the whole world, that I've heard imitate Sigur Ros there sound succesfully. Amazing!

And I've just decided what I want for Christmas!

  • beautiful man, just beautiful...

  • Thanks much!

  • thanks again for a terrific look into the stereo memory man

how do you go about getting the string or synthy sounds that we hear at first?

    it is guitar, right?

your depth of knowledge on this pedal is inspiring

    great playing too

  • wow, thanks. I'll post the exact settings later. It it just guitar into an OCD drive pedal into the SMMH. The swelling effect is a combo of the raising the guitar volume knob and running into a special delay setting on the SMMH. It's the middle multitap setting set with assending repeats. That gives the delay a stairstepped volume increase with every repeat. I find it's great for creating bow-like effects. Thanks for watching.

  • Ive noticed you got the Kustom Defender?

    Does it takes pedal well?

  • Yes. Some of the reasons I got this amp is the gorgeous clean sound, the effective EQ and the power...it's loud. It has a character, but it doesn't dominate. So pedals work vey well with this amp.

  • Great video, great sounds - thanks man, I needed that :)
