I like the sentiments but the crap about a united ireland gets in the way. Surely a socialist party should be international. I'm afraid he can't even have a transfer.
In Northern Ireland, unfortunately, tribalism wins the day and no party can 'not' have a stance on the Union. That said, the idea of a United Ireland is simply one policy of the SDLP's and hardly their dominant one; unlike SF, they aren't a single-issue party.
The only real way to show commitment to moving beyond tribalism and Unionist/Republican politics is to vote based on real, substantive policies- which the SDLP have.
Bravo. Too true, the fundamentalists stop us from moving on. I'm a unionist, but a weak one. I would shake hands with a UUP or SDLP member, but never with a DUP or Sinn Fein member.
@spammy58 U talk about tribalism while ur party is in cahoots with the DUP so that a nationalist will not get a seat in a close constituency, talk about sectarian, thats the definition of real bigotry hypocrites!!!
I beg your pardon, but I find it ridiculous that you can compare Nobel Laurete John Hume with Ms. Brown. Bairbre Brown disappeared in 2004, and was miraculously found come the 2009 election cycle. Disgraceful!
And the fact remains that Brown's record still remains abysmal considering that all of her energies were SUPPOSED to be dedicated to the European Parliament. John Hume was also an MP and an MLA during his final term.
So are you admitting that you lied in your previous post sinse I've shown you the FACTS!..if you look at Hume's record in the British Parliament it too is abysmal.
Calling her Brown instead of her real name De brun is simply pathetic and embarrassing from a so called nationalist but what would one expect from a STOOP.
@KillianF07 well over 120,000 voted for her and she topped the poll, maybe its because u didnt see her name correctly on the polling card mate, u sound like the loyalists on nolan that cant call her by her proper name cause its Irish, then again the SDLP and a "Post nationalist" party after all!
That was a nice advert. Pity about the posters though cause they looked terrible I thought. Real cheesy.

LIES!!
your figures are both wrong and misleading.
Both de Brún and McDonald have asked Oral Questions though more importantly they have submitted many, many more substantive Written Questions.
And before SDLP heads start wetting themselves over these stats we should compare how Hume did in his final term with both Sinn fein MEPs.
de Brún - 2 Oral, 6 Joint Oral, 39 Written
McDonald - 3 Oral, 5 Joint Oral, 237Written
Hume - 1 Oral, 1 Joint Oral, 3 Written
FACts my dear boy,FACTS.

4th feb 2009-oral question re underground wires
14 Feb 2005 re bugging of mep's office
11 jul 2006-oral question re article 2 of european convention on human rights
Tthat does not include her joint questions with fellow MEPs
That is the FACTS! and it is freely available on the eu website, go check it out.
Your research is not very good or as I suspect your research was taken from another MEP's website Jim Allister's which is wrong.
Those are the COLD HARD FACTS.hahaha
