@4Firearms HDSLR a fad? Well, the fad has been going on for over 2 years now and you are exaggerating the overheating. I have shot shows that lasted over 90 minutes without ever overheating my 5D.
Actually, for all the gigs I have done, it over heated only a couple of times and it was with the initial firmware. So I dont see this as a major show stopper for most people.
@Canon5dTips You are one of the lucky few. Simply search Canon 5D Overheat and you will get thousands of results and thousands of more users who are struggling with the overheating on their T2I, 7D and 5D rigs.
The FIRMWARE simply DELAYS the warning, but doesn't actually STOP or lessen the overheating. It's just a band aid to get people who paid $3,500 on their crap to SHUT UP until they can fix the issue.
DSLR's just were NOT meant to be video cameras. Until they do, it's a no go for pros.
@Canon5dTips PS. Pasted from Canon's website. (IT DOES NOT PREVENT OR FIX OVERHEATING, but simply tweaks the time the camera WARNS YOU of the overheat.) A cheap Band-aid.
"Extends the timing at which the high temperature warning indicator is displayed and the timing of automatic shut down of the camera due to a rise in internal temperature during Live View or EOS Movie functions."
@4Firearms wow i didn't realize someone hated DSLRs so bad... did you buy an expensive digital camera or something,,, and now your upset you wasted a ton of money when you could have gotten a better look with a way cheaper DSLR?? if thats the case i understand.
@4Firearms says the guy with no videos on his channel.
Canon DSLR's display an overheating warning after 12 minutes of continuous shooting. Are you making films with more than 12 minute shots? Martin Scorsesse is known for long shots and even the longest shot in good fellas is only 2 and a half minutes.
HDSLR's have been used in the making of big budget productions such as Iron man 2, House and Saturday Night Live. Is that professional enough for you?
@4Firearms I am an actor and I worked on 2 commercials in the last 3 months. US Bank and Toyota Prius. Both shot with Canon 5D mark2. I was very surprised to see that.
@4Firearms I shoot the Canon 7D, and I shoot in extremely wet and hot environments like music festivals and concerts, My camera has been wet, hot as hell, and I've never had any issues, no over heating... and I've had my camera for over a year now. I keep bumping into these old tape having Big HDV pussy farts that troll on DSLR's.. Ice packs? are you fucking retarded? and your professional? read your comment... I mean come on..
hi can you please give me the link to where i can get all the stuff again ? i think your link is not working. I really wanna get all these stuff for my T2i
thank you for the video, this was super informative!!! really helped to identify all the correct terminology for the different parts...making google research and shopping easier, lol
Would you sell me yours because i do not know where you bought all your pieaces so If you could sell me yours then you could make another one. Pleas phone me at 254 -744-7443 I am in Texas Please call I have some questions and your video is really great so i would be very happy if you called. I just got a new Canon 5d
You don't need amazing glass for video... Remember it's 1080p is under 2 megapixel. Most important is the speed of the lens (f-stop) and having a single f all the way through any zoom lenses is nice as well.
@mkell21 What a ridiculous statement... thats like saying you dont need a supercar to win at le mans. Sure if all the other cars failed then yes an Austin Allegro may well win. But why cripple yourself just to save money. To shoot, say like a feature film, on a dslr, you will need to spend at least a couple of thousand over the initial price of the camera body itself. You need pro audio adapting, rig with follow focus, top speed memory, lights, top quality mics and above all the best glass.

You forgot ONE THING! THE ICE PACKS!
You can spend thousands on all kinds of cool accessories, but the bottom line is DSLR's can't be trusted for professional use.
They over heat and shut down after a short time.
Try explaining to your client that although your camera looks cool, it's actually HOT and you need a break to get more ICE to pack on your camera.
DSLRs might be a fad right now, but until the makers can keep them from over heating they are just spending toys.

why fd lenses? i know they are cheap but the adapter needed will lose more light and the optics won't be as good.
