Wow, I'd completely forgotten about this game. I have it on 5.25 inch floppy somewhere in my mothers loft, I'll have to go around and see if all my old Atari 8-bit stuff still works!
I played this game, it was more like a side-scrolling Punch Out as every fighter had a picturesque name and a special move to counter. Even the last fighter Bronx Bomber was very similar to Mr. Sandman!
My brother had this game for the Commodore 64 back in the eighties, and I loved it. My favourite part was that you could make custom boxers by swapping the heads and bodies around, and making them different colours and giving them silly names. This game sure looks lame by today's standards. Too bad you got KO'd by the British Bulldog, the next and final boxer is of course a huge African American called the Bronx Bomber. To this day every time I see Bob Sapp I remember the Bronx Bomber.
ON the main menu is that Ronald and Nancy Reagan in front? And in the back fro left to right a chinese guy...wearing a triangle hat lol with Dn king next to him, then the pope and a kangoroo?
Wow, I haven't seen this for ages... I still remember everything quite clearly now I see it again. Played it for days back in the 80's when I was a kid.
Oh, by the Lord of Turds, I can't believe it! I had this game on my Atari 800XL and played it for hours. When the Nintendo era came, this one was completely erased from my mind, I didn't have the slightest notion of its existance anymore. That until I was reading some reviews from the site of "The Video Game Critic" and this game (for the Atari 7800 in there) catched my eye.
Fortunately I downloaded a plethora of Atari 800XL games from one site some time ago and "Fight Night" is there, I'm gonna play it right now on an emulator. I'll also check the Commodore version.
This was a fairly fun game. I only could beat the champ by TKO.
One thing I didn't like was that the gameplay ended being affected from the great graphics. It slowed things down, making it difficult to put up a defense or offense at times. Punches would land, but wouldn't register!

I had an Atari 800 XLE. This game was always "sold out." Either that or they just didn't make many copies of it.

You gotta love the stereotypes in this game. Long before things became PC. In both senses. :)

I used to play this game with my Dad and he would always win. I could generally make it to the 4th round and then get rocked.

Looks like Jeraldo vs. Woody Allen. Jeraldo was actually a boxer.
