  • How did you build it ????

  • Are them lights needed to set it up or not? :/ But great setup.

  • @Theserversman This was only for cool factor.

  • @adairw84 So how did you install them?

  • @Theserversman if you go to my main youtube page and find this video, there is a link to a picasa web album that has pictures of the project.

  • i may sound dumb but will building a pfsense box speed up my network because i pay for 6mbs but only get about 600 or 700 kbs?

  • @cody20911 it might help but I think you need to learn some terminology first. A 6Mbps connection is 750KB per second. With over head and ('m assuming DSL) 600-700KB would be about right.

  • I just built a pfSense box tonight. I stumbled across your video shortly after I got it running. Coincidentally, I'm using the exact same case, lol!

  • Looks good, i like that, im running a pfSense router myself

  • nice vid I want to do that with my Smoothwall box, Did you just hard wire the leds to the nic cards?

  • I have built pfsense with server class hardware, supermicro Xeon / Dual gigabit lan with 4GB ram. It's a monster. pay attention: 1Gbit wan to lan , 1Gbit lan to wan stable data troughput.

  • Pretty :)

    Just a bit loud ;p

  • nice...im in the process of creating my own router from a mini itx with intel atom D510 along with 4gigs of ram and 300gig HD

  • Pentium II router rofl

  • Like the LED mods, a nice added touch ;)

  • whats your username and password LOL

  • Im planning on doing this when I get all the parts I need. Just a few questions I wanna shoot you. If I were to change the boot order to load from a external drive like USB Flash, do you think I could store the program there. Also how difficult was the installation of PFSense? I dont know much about setting up default gateways and such.

  • I would say its best to use an old HDD or Live CD with a floppy disk. The HDD option all you need is the barebones system to make it work with 2 or more Network cards.

The USB drive may or may not work. It kind of a waste to use a 1gb drive for a 20mb o/s.

  • coool! are you using it for hobby or business?

  • I'm using this one at home currently, but I have pfSense boxes deployed at our office and branch offices as well as have a few friends who have them running now. We love it.

  • ok, but what about the bill? i mean you have that pc running 24/7, right?

  • Very nice !

  • Thats really nice man. 2 thumbs up

  • nice mod.

  • thanks!

  • hey, how did you manage to have the leds on the front panel? that's awesome!
