Actually, this game does have horror. You may have read the statement wrong. At one point in the game, Ethan Mars if forced by the Origami Killer via videotape to cut off one of his own fingers to prove his love for his son. That is horror my friend.

Heavy Rain is a crime-thriller. And yes, you can compare that to the Condemned series.

I'm more of an old school-type game liker. I'm not into console games either.

However, this game does look quite interesting. I probably won't buy it, though. If it's not immersive, it's probably not for me.

Basically, I just wanted to say, there's been a huge jump in terms of depth (plot-wise). I mean, if you look at games from the '90s (Doom for example), the story isn't the main focus, it's beating the hell out of demons, or whatever crosses your path.

How's about you do some research? Then you'll find out that (1) There's a possibility that this level may not even be in the game, nor may this character. (2) You'll find out that during some of the cut scenes there are button presses, in others there aren't. (3) You'll also find out that you can walk around the house at your own will (Like in GTA-IV, if you move the analogue forward, the character will move forward.) (4) You wouldn't sound retarded. I'm sure you have never played Gothic or Gothic 2. These games have got great story! it looks like a mixture between resident evil/silent hill(camera angles), shemnue ( button sequences, dreamcast game), and indigo prophecy which was for the ps2(an investigative style game). not sure about other gameplay mechanics like fighting, if its like indigo prophecy then there really wont be any exept for sequences where you hit buttons which was like shemnue(which was a great game)

The game looks great to play. I'm actually looking forward to this a lot. Apparently, when the killer gets home, it switches to split screen with one camera following the killer and one on the investigator. You then have to make it out of the house, whether the killer notices you (bringing you into those QTE events) or if you stay hidden the entire time. There's a 20 minute video of the presentation held in Paris, I recommend watching it.

No, no. There are moments that are really story driven, kind of like a cutscene, but they are interactive. Not in the button pushing way, the actual moving around and interacting with things way. Like MGS4, if you've played that game.

These moments don't make up the entire game, either. You do move around, adventure around and do things like look for clues about the murder and investigate etc.

I think your friend is lying to you. And there is a longer video online, showing how many different possibilities of gameplay there are, just in this scenario, alone. You could walk out of the house without the serial killer ever knowing you were there. You could kill him. Hell, the game doesn't even end when your character dies. This is not a Dragon's Lair type game by any measure.

Its more interactive than it seems. You do move the character, as shown in a 20 min trailor on game trailors. Its more interactive and your decisions decide how the story plays. This person simply choose not as good of choices. For instance when the man actually comes you could either wait like an idiot or find a good spot to hide( closet, fridge, garage etc). I thought it was more movish at first until I saw the 20 min trailor. What you touch is based on analog and axis controls also.
