  • How do say Kayto?

  • @coolangel2000

K like the letter K and toe pronounced Kay toe but the spelling is Kayto hope this helps you..

  • Kayto is precious! I'll keep an eye on your videos. Hopefully I'll be posting Ozzy doing some tricks soon. She says about 20 different things in context, too! Today she asked me what I was doing!!! I just have a digital camera at this point, so the quality of my clips is not great.

  • thanks Ludibu,Ozzy is very smart I sure enjoyed your video and look forward of viewing more of them.(I just have a digital camera also my quality isn't the best good ofr now)

    How old is Ozzy?

  • Ozzy turned 3 on March 23rd. I have had her since she was 4 months old so this is her first home.

  • cool,What age did Ozzy start talking?

  • She started right away - I'd say at five months. I think she is unusual for a Senegal. I have read that they are not such good talkers, or that they just learn a few words. She says all kinds of stuff - complex sentences, etc., and some things she's only said once or twice. Certain things she says frequently. Sometimes she says things perfectly in context, and other times it sounds like she is just rattling off random stuff. I want to work with her more because I think she is gifted.

  • thanks for the information on Ozzy,I find some senegals don't talk at all,I got Kayto at 5.5 months so he is behind but in 5 weeks is starting to talk and whistle.Check out shaaandy she has a bird named annabelle and he talks and sings very cute there here on you tubejust type in shaaandy name on search and you will find there videos if you haven't already.

  • Our Senegal rides around on my shoulder all day and has never bitten my ear.

  • some seem be okay, but all birds have the ability to bite if frightened or to protect toys/cage I find when there hormone levels are changing is a fustrating time around two years old.If you train them right you should have no problem. If your the flock leader very seldom you will ever get bitten you probley are the flock leader or the master keeper of your bird. How old is he/she ?

  • Kayto is very cute! I'd be a little careful about having him on your shoulder. I learned the hard way that my guy will go after ears with a vengeance and their beaks can hurt.

  • yes you are right,he only gets to go on the shoulder as a reward the funny thing is he dosen't know how to bite yet just light beaks what is normal for babies.I have handled many of the big cockatoos usally you can tell bite attack with body language of the bird.

  • How old is Annabelle?

How long has he been biting?

Are you the flock leader or master keeper of the bird?

I find that hormones at 2 years old can make them fustrated and nippy.

  • He has been biting since he was a baby... When I first got him, I thought it was a sign that he ran to me (he was with his brothers and sisters at the time) but now I realize he was being aggressive. The doc said he is very hormonal. We've changed his diet, he now gets some organic pellets, fruits, veggies, (to be continued)

  • sprouted seeds, sprouted grains, etc... and I have been clicker training him and it helps. I hold him a lot, but I use a towel to cover my hand just in case he gets any ideas, but he means well, he's very sweet, he loves people, but I would not allow others to hold him because he will suddenly bite just out of the blue, and he can bite very hard. I do think it has a lot to do with his hormones (and yes, he's a he).

  • Oh.. and to answer your age question, Annabelle is 5 years old, he'll be 6 in Nov. I try to just be his buddy, I don't try to dominate him, with clicker training I've learned that you try to make what you want the bird to do appealing for the bird, so that it's ultimately his choice. So, his rewards are now an almond bit here and there as I've learned peanut butter (as used in my other videos) isn't as healthy.

  • Thanks Sandy that helps me understand more of the sennies,I volunteer at the world parrot refuge 600+ birds there I see all the diffrent parrots and handle lots of them mostly the special needs birds self mutaltors and feather pluckers cockatoos and greys mostly.

  • Wow, that's great. What a great experience that would be. Where is that located?

  • Coombs Bc canada on Vancouver Island this is there home for the rest of there lives.

They have a web site worldparrotrefugeorg

  • continue- the sennies don't have this problem but I have played with some and other small birds like Indian ring necks, various conures.Sennies have a very sweet nature about them and reasonably quite. The Moluccan cocktoo is very loud with there flock calls.
