  • it would've been better if the acoustics of the gym was better. Good attempt tho! :)

  • Love your tone.

  • i think u did great u have good tone, ya i plan on playing this piece myself for solo competition this upcoming yr. its a hard piece but its so much fun once u get it down :-) and i have a yamaha allegro it works

  • I was in high school when I played this. Either my Sophomore or Junior year. The horn is a 60's Strad with a gold plated bell. Looking back at this I was definitely nervous haha

  • Hello you did good I played this in six grade now I'm in seventh but I have been playing for 6 years and yeah btw how long have you been playing?

  • what kind of horn is it? and also what grade are you in?

  • I'll be playing this pretty soon myself. I'm currently a sophomore in high school.

  • @dmonkey2012 : I bet you go to that ghetto school in Hayward. Mt. Eden? Only that orchestra would have you play something like this. It's quite awesome.

  • @dmonkey2012 Just kidding xD It's Eevee. Great job, btw

  • not bad. rubbish arrangement of this piece though. Keep practising it and listen to some other recordings of this piece. :) from one trumpet player to another... your doing good :)

  • You don't sound like shit. You have a great tone. But I agree, you should have listened to some recordings of Wynton or Alison Balsom to get a feel for the piece and the dynamics.

  • you soudn likeshit

  • I agree with j that you should have listened to more recordings to get a feel of how it's played. It's good to have your own little touch, but don't stray too far from the main road. But, see no reason to call that Bach a POS. And, what's more, if you really don't have a teacher or someone else to help you with this piece, I think it's good.

  • I played this as a child.

Nah ya got a bit to go.

I think you were rattled earlier on.

Nice to see you posted though, great.

  • i'm so jealous of how you play your runs...i'm in ninth grade and have braces and have to play this own tuesday...the only real issue i'm having is that last run...blah. i liked your performance...but you didn't seem to excited to play it....

  • im going to take a guess high notes are not your thing. However this is very well done for your age. I also see you playing on a re-make of the original bach new york horns. I will agree with the others you sound as if you pinch notes. It seems as if your either nervous or just a pressure thing. They should sound like one level not pinched. Played trumpet for 18 years. Now on drums but still know trumpet very well.

    Keep playing man

Stay safe online and in the real world.

    - Havoc

  • Great job. This is a pretty tricky piece in a few parts, but you had a great tone and obviously worked hard on it.

  • This is why i like to thing woodwinds are imaginary. ;)

It sounds like your pinching of the high notes and you're using pressure. I'm more sure that your pinching than pressure though.

  • Some major tunng issues within the band. The clarinets and flutes were pretty bad. Not a bad performance by yourself though keeping working on it.

  • Great job, man! Keep it up!

Please check out my Haydn performance and leave comments!

I can't post a link in a comment, but look up "moderndivinci" and you'll find it!

  • not bad. Thats a bit hard to play on a Bb trumpet, bravo

  • i saw u shaking ur head...i know how that feels...

Sometimes it seems like the Flutes and Clarinets are trying to take your spotlight

  • It sounds if You would have trained without any teacher!? For this in my opion it's quite good. If You've had a teacher... poor teacher...

  • It would sound much much better with trombones and some trumpets in the background.

  • Good control, nice tone. If it weren't for the band and the gym, I'd say this was a college performance. Good job!

  • not bad but woulda sounded better with a full orchestra

  • bravo, sounds great considering you look like you're only about 15 or so in the video

your range and stamina seems to be in good shape and you just need to polish up the technique

awesome that you take the risk of performing it in front of a crowd

I just wonder about the cadenza...maybe you could have made a smoother transition back into the music?

  • It was a little slow for me, but good job!

  • why didn't he play the high Eb?

  • why is it backed by wind band?

  • imho very slow....

  • Wery Poor!

  • Hey great effort that was brilliant, hell of a lot better than any trumpet players I know!

  • Sounds great! Keep up the good work 5/5

  • Cadenza sounds similar to Wynton Marsalis's.

  • You people are not proving anything criticizing the crap out of this. Did you pay to watch them? Was it unlistenable? I love how he gets on himself for missing a note. He's not a robot. Are YOU?

  • Pretty decent job, i enjoyed it. Everything has basically been said. Those 16-note runs,so just work on being playing up there with relative ease(ie...Long Tones in the extreme lower octave and upper register etudes)the articulation was addressed, but all and all great job. Oh a little bit of advice on performing technique...don't ever show that you made a mistake, unless you're audience is well versed in the idiom, often times they won't even know you made a mistake

  • hey this was actually rly good..i have some audition for a coast guard thing with this song any advice?

  • get a teacher.

  • pay for him

  • My trumpet teacher who happened to be taught be some of the best, told me to listen to people with the tone that you are seeking and often. This came easy to me because I thoroughly enjoy classical music, Wynton, is more of a showman, but his tone it always excellent, I personally listen to alot of Maurice Andre and try, notice I said "try" to emulate his sound. - commin along nice, got guts to stand up and do that!!

  • Sounds alright. Those clarinets bring everyone down.

  • also for the sixteenths, especially the ones with e naturals in them use 1 and 2 its easier;)

  • should do more classical sixteenth note tonging like two staccato and two legato..ie. tee a ta ta and follow articulation markings...EXCEPT on the sixteenths and the slurred quarter notes...make the last three marcatto. Furthermore, as in the classical style of the period,,, i would recommend starting trills from top. Last of all, if you're not going to play the high Eb, don't play the concerto...its the damn climax...other than that pretty good

  • Don't tongue so hard. Haydn was a Western European. He didn't write things to be beat to death with the tip of the tongue.

Also, i could go out for a cigarette in between measures. This is about 130. It needs to be 155-160.

Stretch out the high notes too.

    The cadenzas were boring.

YOU ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY MUST NAIL THE LAST NOTE.

Needs a bunch more work, but you are off to a nice start kid.

  • Sounded better live =)
