  • blah blah drugs blah blah awesome blah blah

  • 3 people are telling lies and what do they know?

  • I didn't look him up because I know who he is. XD

I think he is definitely a great artist, but he does have an air around him that makes me believe he does indeed sometimes think he's one step ahead of everyone. Also, his ideas about perpetual noise and background music are frightening to me... And that's why I love this song. It says everything I could ever say about it, but better.

  • i like Mgmt in all but they do not deserve talking about Brian Eno they don’t even compare...!

  • @Lindsaylou1785 That's kind of the point. They're saying how they're inspired by, but don't compare at all to Brian Eno.

  • @Lindsaylou1785

"we're always one step behind him"

in what way do they compare themselves to him?

  • Fuck you, ads. Fuck you.

  • I have never heard anything from this band other thatn that annoying Kids song and i must say this song is incredibly impressive

  • Oh my! I stumbled upon this, because I'm a David Bowie/Brian Eno 'Berlin Trilogy' superfan. This is fabulous! very glad i found these guys.

  • 0:36 - although the proper term is in fact "oblique strategies", they're saying "stratagems" here. You were right!

  • @manylanguagesofme ... Of course he's real.

  • the tune reminds me of dune

  • Who else looked up Brian Eno after listening to this song? Just to see if he was infact a real person?

  • @ManyLanguagesofMe hes more than a human he’s a genus!!!

  • @Lindsaylou1785 Yeah Eno is clearly a genius. He influenced and worked with David Bowie, that's all that need to be said ! :p

  • this song makes me want to go monster hunting...

  • brian eno was on colbert report and when he came out i was like'BOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and people on tv were like yay

  • easily the best song on congratulations

  • In case any one is wondering this song was written because MGMT tried to get Brian Eno to help publish Congratulations. But he declined. So this song is kinda just slagging him off. Thumbs this up so people can see it.

  • @Cosmolovescheese in an interview with mgmt, Andrew said that the song was supposed to be complimentary, and the lyics don't sound insulting anyway.

  • In fact Brian Eno collaborates composing some songs of MGMT. Both are exceptional musicians

  • epic bassline

  • Do people honestly not know who Brian Eno is? Ok here u go a short burst of info on him - he was in the band Roxy Music until the mid 70's {I think,} which did such singles as "Virginia Plain", "The Strand" ect

He worked with Bowie on what became known as Berlin Trilogy of albums - Low, Heroes & Lodger.. Then Talking Heads - most famously on the albums More Songs About Buildings & Food & Fear Of Music, then U2 {Joshua Tree} oh and o'bleak Stratagems is cards he produced to inspire ideas..

  • @swallowthemind not talking about his solo stuff makes so much sense

  • @cguitar100 I didn't mention he also did the windows 95 start up sound..

  • @swallowthemind yeah that is same with the solo work

  • @swallowthemind cool man

  • at 0:30 it says in the lyric book "the wisdom of o'bleak strategems." sorry to correct, just letting you know.

  • 1:48 NIRVANA!!!

  • The beginning sounds like if it's going to be a ska song.

  • okay brian eno. its your turn. make a song called "MGMT"

  • I just figured out what the album cover actually is lol

  • I named my fish Brian Peter George st John Le Baptiste De La Salle Eno.(:

  • @FirdousBareen have you heard the cornelius remix? it's pretty good :D

Congratulations was probably the album i heard most the last year-completely amazing.that should teach me not to judge bands so hard

  • This song is very reminiscent of old-style haunted houses, especially the synth and guitar. It's friggin' awesome.

  • aaaaah!!! andrew sing a little french in this song (am I a groupie?, nooo....)

    J"adore, j'adore, j'adore, longue vie à mgmt, et j'emmerde Brian Eno!

  • aaaaah!!! andrew sing a little french in this song (a I a groupie, nooo....)

    J"adore, j'adore, j'adore, longue vie à mgmt, et j'emmerde Brian Eno!

  • For everyone who doesn't know who Brian Eno is, he is an extremely influential figure in Avant-Garde Rock, Ambient music, Electronic music and Pop music in general. He was in Roxy Music, he's produced albums for Talking Heads, U2, Coldplay, James, John Cale and many many more. He also worked with David Bowie on some of his most well known albums. The Windows 95 startup sound was also created by him. A lot of the genres today probably wouldn't be what they are without Brian Eno.

  • I'd have sex with this song... :p

  • brian eno is a famous music producer guys. seriously, wikipedia that shit.

  • @NJJincorperated Brian Eno's mother should be honored mgmt wrote a song about her son

  • The only person who disliked this video was Brian Eno's mother

  • when i get drunk, i sing this song to my friend brian.

  • I love this song!!!:)

  • if MGMT wrote a song about just me, id probably die

  • Brian Eno, lol!

  • Brian Eno is my neighbour

  • Love this song I hate the people who don't like this song!!!!!!!

  • U ppl are all idiots Brian eno is a musician from the 70s and the coralation is mgmts music is based on a 70s tone so if you want more music like mgmt check out some 70s music I promise ull like it as much as I do

  • This sounds like a flock of geese being burnt alive with sulfuric acid

  • brian eno is some weird dude that makes ambient music and made the noise for windows 95..or so my cousin says not sure but his guess is better than mine

  • brian eno is, he's probably the most accomplished producer of the 20th and 21st centuries. if you're wondering what albums he produced, think coldplay — viva la vida, the joshua tree — U2, genesis' "the lamb lies down on broadway", in addition to working with depeche mode, devo, and being pretty much half of "the talking heads" and performing with david bowie on many of his most famous albums. he's on everything, but he's like a ghost that you only know about if you read the album credits.

  • @MobyGoCollection You forgot the best Eno.....in early 1972 ROXY MUSIC........SEE LADYTRON....THE BEST.

  • @MobyGoCollection not to mention Roxy Music

  • he's saying "brian eno" but he's channeling jon anderson!

  • i hated this song when i first heard it, buy now its my favorite song on the album

  • brian eno is actually fuckin awesome his music is okay but he has produced ALOT of bad ass music.

  • Brian Eno is actually a douchebag AND HIS MUSIC SUCKS!

  • Roxy Music!!!

  • I like the way he says "black"

  • I think it's "leave a city and plant a forest" at 3:05.

  • 0 DISLAIKS!

    AYAY!!!!

  • Thought he said 'retina', not red

  • Comment removed

  • suhweet song!! :) really like lyrics lol

  • If you want to know who Brian Eno is, then walk into a quite forest on a pleasant Autumn morning. Pop a couple magic mushrooms, and say his name 3 times...

  • @PwnStarr That also works with George R.R Martin.

  • pretty good song exept brian eno is better

  • Andrew is so awesome! Ben's pretty cool too!

  • Holy F*** I just found out that Brian Eno was a real person and that his full name really WAS Brian Peter George St John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno! O.O

  • Obligue strategies - not "o'bleak stratagems" :-) * ~

  • @gaktus its oblique strategems. so he had the o'bleak wrong but the stratagems was right

  • @DrLasagna7 Why don't you google Oblique Strategies. :-) * ~

  • @gaktus why dont you listen to the song. and yes i know that if you google oblique strategies it talks about brian eno. but if you google oblique stratagems then you will find a bunch of pages on the actual lyrics to the song

  • What does he scream after hes all: "Brian peter george st. john le baptiste de la salle eno"? like between that and the "well all alone by the oldest stone where the shade trees grow"? at first i thought it was just jibberish but like i saw them playing it live and he started screaming the same things. What does he say?

  • This album is great, I listen to all the songs and when I buy an album I dont usually.

  • It's oblique strategems not o'bleak. It's a divination card set invented by Brian Eno used for preventing getting stuck during the creative process.

  • Fracken awesome song!

  • Wait, are they complaining or complimenting Brian Eno? I find it a bit unclear. I mean, we are talking about one of the greatest producers ever here.

  • brian eno is a producer for a couple other indie/cool bands.

  • the best part of the song is 3:41

  • are you serious? Brian Eno is only one of the most influential guys in the realm of electronic music. Hes the fucking man and has worked with countless artists

  • Brian Eno is the guy who makes you listen to that sound everytime you turn on your windows machine. c: He was a theorist that contributed a lot to the genre of ambient music, like "chillout" sounds and whatnot. Well-deserving of this great song.

  • at 2:29 i start liking the song more...

but it's not my fave mgmt =/

  • great video

  • I wish I could tell them how much I love this song XD I saw them play it on Letterman and then I watched/listened to it here and I love it! very catchy and creative :)

    GO MGMT!

  • Music sucked before MGMT it's just nice to see someone in the music buisness who is famous and ISN'T A RAPPER

  • @BURTONBOARDER70 What's wrong with good rap?- I say thatwith Honesty.

  • Definitely one of my favorite songs from this album. oh and great editing :)

  • brian eno also makes some awesome music. haha check him out, but anyways I love this songg!

  • Sick lyrics, again, guys. I wonder who this Brian Eno is and how MGMT got inspired. And, whay are all the pics of Andrew!?! Not that I don't absolutely ADORE Andrew... But, Ben is awesome, too.

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT

    Thanks :)

But I really didn't think I put ONLY Andrew pictures. I guess just most of the pictures I had were Andrew ones.

  • @xxMissAdlerxx Brian Eno was in a band called Roxy Music and produced Devo's first album. He also has a solo carrier. His music is quite facinating. Check out 'Needle in the cameras eye'

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT Brian Eno is the father of ambient music. He also produced a lot of the Talking Heads' albums.

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT brian eno is a somewhat famous artist

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT have you tried to search on wikipedia who's brina eno? :)

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT Brian Eno is a musician. Wiki him.

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT you need to wonder who brian eno is?

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT

Brian Eno is the pioneer of ambient music and he recorded with Frank Zappa.

  • @klyona Which songs did he record with Zappa?

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT

brian eno was a musica genius who was way far ahead of his time in the i think the 70s

listen to "in dark trees" and "st elmos fire" off of "another green world"

  • @13StJimmy Personally, I think "Burning Airlines Give You So Much More" and "Third Uncle" are his most accessible songs. Go for "Skysaw" if you want him at his weirdest.

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT

you seriously don't know who brian eno is?!?!

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT you really don't know who BRIAN ENO is??? are you kidding me? google it please

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT This is the trick, move you to investigate who is Eno ;.-)

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT Brian Eno ( Brian Peter George St. John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno) is a musician, singer, and music theorist, best known for his work in ambient music.

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT Maybe you should become more obsessed with knowledge, and less of Andrew! >8B

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT brian eno is a musician from the 70s that made really odd and controvertial ambient music

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT Brian Eno is an experimental artist who MGMT adores.

  • @gramster77 Are you sure they like him? These lyrics actually sound a little bitter.

  • @Pipsocle Not really. They explain how he influenced them and how he's always fantastic.("We're always one step behind him.")

  • @gramster77 Huh, okay. I heard that, too, but I thought it was in a mocking tone, like how Radiohead praises Jim Morrison in their early song "Anyone Can Play Guitar" while they were really criticizing his status as a rock legend. This song seems to be talking about Eno in the same way you would speak of a mythical creature, talking of amazing promises and something that he knows that we don't, which might be mocking how he's seen as a "musical genius" . I hope that made sense.

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT Brian Eno is literally the creator of ambient music. very inspirational man

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT Brian Peter George St John Le baptiste de la SAlle Eno is a music producer, theorist and also called 'father of ambient music'. I also think he composed sounds for windows 95. That's pretty much all I know about him

    BTW: awesome username :-)

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT Brian Eno is a musician. He composes mostly ambient music. I have a couple of his albums :3 There you go... that's who he is. No mystery!

  • @CallGirl976 That was so NEEDED! :)

  • @CallGirl976 as well as the guy behind many critcally acclaimed band's music, including U2...

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT Brian Eno used to be the lead singer for Roxy Music an art rock band from the 60s or 70s now he is a big producer of indie records :)

  • @dragonboy2992 Actually, Brian was the synth player for Roxy Music but got kicked out cuz the other Bryan (Ferry) got jealous of him getting all the girls.

  • @ObsessedWithMGMT brian eno is some1 u should know and be obsessed with.

  • Wowz, this is like early pink Floyd! MGMT just keep getting better in my eyes! blink blink!

They are So right to make a tune based about the one an only Eno! He knows!

  • nawt bad at all

  • brian eno is not just the guy who "does synthesizers for bands like U2, David Bowie, Talking Heads, Coldplay ext", he is fucking brian eno for god sake, a myth a legend for his work and influence on the music of the second part of the 20 century, i mean ask who is brian eno is like ask who is david bowie.

  • this song is creepy.. in a good way tho. what is it about tho?? who is brian eno...????

  • @anela817 and most important he was the keyboarist for roxy music, split from them and made a solo career in the 70's, he and bowie to me are the best of that decade, man u shouldn't die without chekin his career

  • Andrew said he wrote it about how he moved to transylvania for a while to clear his head and stuff but it didn't really help him, and he wrote this song about what he wished happened while he was there. That he was walking in the forest...found Brian E
