Ferrari would never admit to that story of course though. They are too noble and proud for that. Even though Porsche did spank them quite badly. As did the NSX to the 348. Imagine if ferrari could set aside their pride, and go after porsche, maclaren, and audi in lemans. Think how epic that would be to see them all head to head again. Ferrari will never race (factory team) unless they know they will win.

Its funny, what a lot of people don't know is that the f40 is ferrari's answer to the porsche 959. The 959 being a far more superior car to the 288GTO when it was released. It basically left Ferrari standing with hat in hand looking quite foolish. Which is why the F40 looks so crude. It was a rush design to beat the 959 and return ferrari's edge over the competition, at least performance wise. This is Ferrari at it's finest! Less worry about looks, and strictly down to business performance.
