u have 2 analog sticks on a controller. one is for steering, the other one is for looking around your car

This worked fine for me with one monitor, but when I drove a Porsche 959 down the straight of the old Le Mans course, it looked like I was doing 30 mph when the speedometer was showing 180 mph!

Multiscreen mode will only slow the game down.

It's restarting the console because Multiscreen is exactly that...it's designed to run multiple TVs/Monitors. That's why it's restarting. This view change is a side effect to running that feature. It's not restarting just because it's a view change. You sound really foolish.

it's for using multiple monitors at once. So of course the xbox must restart, to allow the settings for the console to intialize correctly.

30 probably still isnt low enough to get a FOV perfect for a standard screen at standard distances. Most of my race videos are at 20.5 degrees.

So 90 degrees allows you to be farther away from the steering wheel (to see better), while 30 degrees makes only the to part of the steering wheel visible?

Worst part about this game is the Standard transmission. Not being able to shift from 4th to 1st in one motion is annoying as hell and unrealstic. Why can I not go into neutral and switch into whatever gear I want. This could EASILY be fixed if they made the right joystick a gear shift knob and another button the clutch. Hold clutch, shift to gear, accelerate. Win.

It pretty much already works like that. Choose manual with a clutch, then open the clutch with LB and shift to whatever gear you want before engaging the clutch again.

Mapping a gear shift knob to the right joystick would be a terrible idea though. It's too difficult to tell what gear you're shifting into with a little joystick. Lets say you want to shift into 3rd, but push the joystick a little too far to the right and end up in 5th. It seems neat in theory, but it just doesn't work.

Up = up one gear, keep clicki ng to go up mor gears.... it works like that in semi-auto cars already.

Yes, the gear up button does only shift one gear at a time, but you aren't actually shifting into those gears until you engage the clutch again. If you want to jump from 5th down to 3rd to prepare for a turn, open the clutch, press the gear down button twice, and then re-engage the clutch. I don't see how it can work much smoother than that on a control pad.

Semi-auto cars are like the manual transmission with no clutch in Forza 3, where when you shift, it actually shifts one gear at a time.

It would be easier if you just clicked the joystick up or down. Would be MUCH more realistic since there is no button shifter. Paddle isn't the same. I hate the shift buttons in this. Joystick placement would be perfect for the shifter.

There is a control layout in Forza 3 that maps the shifting to the right control stick if that is what you mean.

It doesn't fit an entire 6-speed shiftpanel on the stick, but it at least lets your flick it up and down to shift. Is this more like what you want?

Yeah, but you would have to press the stick down just as many times as you would need to press a button. And with your little "fix" we wouldn't be able to turn the camera.

got the game myself and what i dont like or i feel its a fault....when u drive and change gears theres no animation changing the gears...the hand always stays on the steering wheel,even NFS shift is doin it....and games before them...older ones too....i hope they make an update for it,it fucks the realism up completely in my opinion.....

90 degree of FOV is good for 4:3 or non widescreen monitors.

110 degree of FOV is good for 16:10 monitors.

The load times are pretty long, though comparable to other games...but with this FOV trick the console is also trying to sync with a 2nd and 3rd console that isn't there and it definitely adds to the already lengthy load times.

That'd be the day when I could swap an s54 into the e30 m3 and turbo it... Unfortunately I HIGHLY doubt this is possible. Why it is? No idea. The BMW tuning community has done some brilliant things in the past.

I dunno if you have seen but there are two builds going on that would just blow your mind.

I believe one is an e30 M3 chassis with a swapped v10 from the m5 and another with the v8 from the m3.

Both marvels of engineering.

The E30 M3 can be single turbo'd, and the E60 M5 can be twin turbo'd. Pretty sure the E36 M3 and E46 M3 can't have forced induction. Other than that, I don't know.

Well, in FM2 it was because BMW wouldn't let them. Obviously, in FM3, they changed their mind. You are right though, I don't see why they added F/I for an E30 and not an E36.
