few people know ninja wasn't farmers, wasn't monks, and wasn't samurai fallout (ronin)... the art grew from the use of small weapons such as the shoto, and much of the stories are based on other kinds of hired spies and killers and paid enemies... (you have to study as one, to know the rest)... the tools are a mix of things created as the need to get in was advancing.. (modern ninjutsu is the story many recreate, because if you knew what a ninja was it might not be so glamorous...)

The term 'Ninja' came from the people who witnessed them training or carrying out a mission. You are correct that once 'Ninja' was a title almost rivalling the importance of 'Samurai'. You are also correct in saying that the Shinobi no Mono didn't eat much meat. As for the records, I have read alot, before I decided to learn Ninjutsu.

@xIegionx wow you clearly have never trained in either of these, BJJ is more akin to Judo where the aim is to obtain points. Ninjutsu is more akin to say the USMC martial art where the object is to kill your oponent before he kills you. It is much more difficult to give a demo without actually hurting somone. BTW i watched the video, it was muay thai/mma vs ninjutsu/ jeet kun do the ninjutsu guy sucked, but one guy doesn't represent an entire martial art. One video is not proof!

BJJ is only related to judo newaza, other forms of judo is pretty athetic.

Also the USMC's martial arts are BJJ. They teach it in 9/10 of the military. Besides most military soldiers NEVER want to engage in hand to hand or even a knife fight. Their enemies shouldn't even be that point.

However Ninjutsu doesn't work. Also there are 10+ videos of brazillian jiu jitsu beating "ninjutsu" so... That's enough to hold you over
