I don't see how this is bad for the office of police chief. The man is showing his dedication; putting potential criminals on notice. That's what police are paid to do. The mayor should re-hire this man back now. Bing may feel the office of mayor was compromised because Evans chose not to ask permission. However, that's not enough to warrant dismissal. After seeing this video, I think it shows what a Detroit chief should be. but all the baggage that comes with bringing film crews (48 hours/Aiyanna Jones debacle) into crime raids raises a certain level of threat. crime rate has gone down with him out on the beat, but the fallout is just too big for Bing to keep him around.

While his intentions were in the right place, this video only adds to the perception that every part of Detroit city government is a circus. He does seem passionate about his purpose, I'll give him that. Nonetheless, he comes across as a cowboy buffoon in the video at times (the scene with him in a cowboy hat and a cigar really did him in), and this is coming from someone who had serious respect for him as the Wayne County Sheriff. It was an ill-advised project, and he's paying the price.
