Always remember that they were very good friends with the Pythons, especially Tim Brooke-Taylor and Bill Oddie. Tim, Graham Chapman, and John Cleese were particularly close. If you watch the footage from Graham's memorial service, all three Goodies are there.
@Andyrt35 I've often wondered where that clip comes from [running tree/axe] : in the branches, there seems to be old-style ball and chains, maybe it's an out-take from series 4 's 'Goodies in the Nick', but I ain't sure.
Yes, this is the opening I remember from US Public TV's run of GOODIES.For some reason, American TV only got a few seasons(Series)from the middle of their run on BBC, but not the early or later ones.
Alex Mitchell, who spent his final moments laughing uncontrollably at an episode of the 1970s "The Goodies,"... laughed for 25 straight minutes before he "slumped on the settee" and died of heart failure.
@equaleyez187 Yes, I believe it was the Ecky Thump episode? Very memorable send up of northern characters. Brilliant! "Tha don't mackem like that n'more!"
The Goodies was the show that a man died laughing to. I think it was 1976, but I don't know for sure. After 25 minutes of laughing, 50 year old Alex something's ( I think Mitchell) heart gave out.
Mr Tim Brooke Taylor Who Use To Be In The Goodies Has Got A House At Lagos On The Algarve In Portugal And Mr Graeme Garden Who Was In The Goodies As Well Has Got A House At Lagos In The Algarve In Portugal Nr To Tim Brooke Taylor House And I Do Live Nr Them As Well It Is True
The scene a 22 seconds with the fridge was actually a spoof commercial about butter spreading straight from the fridge. It was from an episode called Winter Olympics. In the first four series they used to do spoof commercial breaks, because Graeme and Bill would literally write half of each episode, so Graeme maybe wrote part 1 and Bill wrote part 2.
This is the best version of the theme. Even though this was the most memorable of the themes and was tweaked slightly for later series, this one is the best.
G - You need a helping hand O- You know we understand O- We'll be there to the end, Everyone needs a friend, A goody-goody-goody D - You should definitely Y- You should enquire and see E - We take any old line, Anything, anytime Hey hey hey, Goodies, goody goody yum yum, Goodies, were coming for you, Goodies, goody goody yum yum Here we come into town, getting up and falling down.
God, these guys were silly! This has to be the best comedy series opening song ever. Further proof, should any be needed, that the Brits are the funniest people in the world.

Sorry, but the Goodies comedy at that time was not very good.
In fact at any time it was not very good.
Custard Tart throwing and speeded up chases were done years ago by Benny Hill.
The comment from John Cleese on a program that escapes me is relevant.

@chrisk22021 The programme WAS the Goodies. He was an occasional guest on the show. The Goodies took the mick out of themselves quite frequently.
Humour is very subjective and subject to taste. I personally like the Goodies but you're welcome to your opinion.
