Have a friend of your throw a 300 pound bag of flour from a 100 foot drop and see if you can 'catch them'. And the cameraman was clearly at the bottom of the face at a distance zoomed in on the climbers. It really sucks this happened but there was nothing anyone could do while the fall was taking place.

And the camera man is probably no where near of getting to them. They position themselves at the bottom of the cliff.

@Dazzar456 Uh...what a horrible reply to something as tragic as this accident. Yes the correct gear makes a difference but it needs to be inspected constantly, replaced, and retired as need be. The most important piece of gear that you have is your noggin. From your response I'm safe to say that you may be a climber, however, a pretty inexperienced one at that.

I would be really surprised if they survived much longer than when this footage was taken. The one closest to the camera is posturing, which means he has suffered very severe brain damage. For him to be posturing immediately after the fall means he's bleeding into his cranium pretty heavily, and as the cranium fills with blood and the brain swells, the brain stem will be forced down into his cervical spine, causing his heart and lungs to stop functioning.

In most cases you can't,but in this case it's pretty clear that he's posturing(in the medical definition of the word),and that's a clear indication of severe brain trauma which can either be severe brain swelling,or serious bleeding inside the cranium,or both.Either way the prognosis is not good,and unless the patient can be taken to an hospital emergency room within ten or fifteen minutes he will almost certainly die.Any other problems are secondary unless/until the brain issues are adressed.
