Why are these airplanes not showing up in the west? ...performance maybe?

Are their load ability competitive?

For ex., the b3-103 has VERY poor load numbers....I have looked at that design for over ten years and I can see why it does not sell. The blended body section is all wrong.

To make a seaplane competitive is VERY difficult and classical technology will NOT do.

There is a way, but not anything I see will be marketable against land, especially the 787.

I suspect getting them certified by the FAA is something of a chalenge.Not to mention that the logistics of parts and components is probably pretty sketchy.

I think, it's because they're russian. Its their main drawback. Or maybe west countries would lose money if russians take place in western markets.

Russian firefighting planes are being kept out of US market, they are far superior to old C130s (see crash video Colorado) Martin Mars, PBY and even Canadair amphibs,

I agree, having attended this whow in 2002. Be-200 is the most exciting heavy airplane I ever saw and inspected.

Civilian aerospace is flooded with low cost civilian planes.

Jet powered amphib planes is a horrible Ideal in the civilian secton. Rust,vibration and sea water is horrible on jets. Single engine turbine props are much better solution and low cost.

The best example of this is the Super-Cub, 206, the Turbine Beaver.

The RAAF used to have Airshows, I was a contractor and watched the planes practicing at Williamtown, the public saw nothing like I saw. THEN the Government decided that because they were siding with the USA and upsetting the world that the terrorists might attack them. Hence NO airshows! I think it would be better if we stopped attacking countries! If you don't want your nose snotted DON'T poke it where it is not wanted!

Isn't that what we did in WW2? I don't think waiting for germany to take over europe was the right thing to do... Remember it wasn't only the USA that turned its head away from Nazis. It took the invasion of several countries for england to do shit. was that right? I'm not saying that either country should be the world police but there is a right time and a wrong and its not always the obvious choice.
