  • That was awesome!

  • This movie was excellent and Chris Pine was very good. If you need to hold on to the past THAT tightly, don't be surprised when everything passes you by.

  • I hated the new movie the first time i seen it because i love the original series, however, i watched it again and it has grown on me, the actors really do pay great homage to the originals, even this time i noticed how closely pine mirrored shatner's body movements etc

  • I hate the word Trekkie or Trekkor. I prefer the name or word of a person who loves and has the knowlege about startrek characters, Starships so I would be called a StarTrek Fan!

  • @SR71ABCD Star Trek fans embraced "Trekkie" nearly thirty years ago and are happy with. Personally, I'm with you and if I'm going to be labeled I choose my own: I am a Trekkist (as in anthropologist or archeologist). Yeh, I'm comfy with that.

  • Corporate greed is infecting society. Fight back! We are an Unmovement: they can't destroy a resistance without members. JJ Abrams has already denied membership - iamnotamember[DOT]com/#625

  • I hope Will Shatner is in the next Star Trek Movie =)

  • Shatner dedication in great new bio (All About Jeffrey Hunter) at amazon!

  • Abrams DOES have that Moranis thing going, would it be he'd like to actually DO comedy, those two might really spark things.....

  • JJ Abrams looks like Rick Moranis in Ghostbusters .......He is a great director though..

  • LEONARD!!!!!!

  • JJ had no obligation to put him in the movie. What Shatner should have done is act professional and keep his mouth shut.

  • LOL, dude, that's all in the past. Shatner has moved on. He is a good man.

  • I am no expert on hats, but isn't Shatner's cowboy hat on backwards in this video?

  • nope. i dont think so.

  • I'm from Texas and I gotta say, good eye. It is on backwards. Lol!

  • I love the old Star Trek I am not a paint my face go to every Exposition fan but I do embrace the series that i grew up with. I did enjoy the new version in some way's {not going to be a critic just a open minded } Hope it has as much Success as it"s predecessor.

  • I liked the new star trek movie, also liked the fact that the old spock(leonard nemoy) made a cameo appearence.. wouldve been nice to have old friends unite with old kirk (william shatner)

  • 0:32 = legend

  • we miss you

  • how to bring kirk to life without overusing "Time Travel" or mirror universe, or paralel universe, lies within "The Nexus"...

  • The films predate the original series-

does it matter if Kirk died in Star Trek Generations? It could be Kirk from before that episode. The obvious would be to pull him from 'the Nexus' or have spock 'revive him using some vulcan ritual but that would be a waste of story time and bog it down 'the search for Kirk' nonsense. JJ kept bringing characters back from the dead in ALIAS he is the master of compelling everything is not as it seems storylines. The death of Kirk wouldn't be a problem.

  • The news JJ Abrams is considering bringing back William Shatner as Kirk is great, but there has to be an explanation as to how Kirk is now living again. Alternate time lines just do not cut it. Would Kirk be officially back to life or would he just be alive in an alternate time line and still dead in the other. If he is still dead in the other (Generations) timeline then its going to let down alot of fans who definitively want Kirk brought back to life without any doubt.

  • Comment removed

  • the new film is a completly different timeline to any other star trek medium. i don't see how alternate time line doesn't cut it for you when it was a majour part of the new film. the death of kirk will be completly different in this timeline than the one in generations

  • In Star Trek Generations I saw the real true Kirk die. So to me he is dead. He may well be alive in an alternate universe but to me the character which I and other fans had been watching for 30 years was dead and gone. I would like to see the real true Kirk brought back, not William Shatner playing some alternate Kirk or playing Kirk before he died. It must be the original true Kirk without any doubt. I only say this because Kirk is a legendary figure and deserves an immortal status.

  • Well in that case Leonard Nimoy should not have been in the film.

  • Wasnt it captain Kirk shagging Uhura the original TV show. This makes captain Kirk look like hes humping green skinned woman.

  • After Shatner the best Kirk was John Belushi! Who's with me?

  • I've only been to see the new movie once and I liked it, maybe a lot too, but didn't love it. And I agree with thanks51, Wrath of Khan still tops them all. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many times I've seen that movie, and I could go watch it again - it's the characters that really pull you into the story. And while Shatner's portrayal of Kirk will always be my favorite, I prefer James Cawley's (Star Trek Phase II series) Kirk to Pine's at this time.

  • I haven't seen much TOS. I was commenting on Next Generation and its successors.

  • If you haven't seen TOS, you haven't really seen Trek!

  • If the old Kirk ever showed up in the movie young Kirk would be like daaaaaamn I let myself go! =D

  • Shatner's gotten more tail then everyone who posts on this board combined so I'm sure he'll take your criticism really hard. Hell, look how hot his wife is.

  • This film is only good for sound and nothing more! Im interested in how deep it went when Vulcan collapsed into black hole? Thou it sounded like frequency sweep going in reverse LOL kinder like Iron Hide flip in Transformers, and that was load of bollocks as well. Thank god Michel Bay wasnt directing Star Trek the dialogue would have been totally wooden!

  • Now the politics of this moron screwing the Star Trek universe timeline up! Vulcan now how can it be possible and killing off Spocks mother as well is illogical in the Star Trek universe, because they all exist in the original Star Trek TV show and beyond. I rest my case! For god sakes do not give J.J. a pen or penile to write another Star Trek idea the guy is an embarrassment and if Gene where still around he would never approve of this idea.

  • They wanted to put an exclamation point on the fact that this is a NEW time line. Although how that explains why the Enterprise and everything is more modern when Nero had no foreseeable effect on the Federation. In fact even George Kirk's ship looked like something from the TOS-Movies, not the series. SO it was a remake (or alt timeline) even without Nero's influence but they wanted something to keep fanboys off their backs. "This is not your father's Trek" and all that.

  • This film sounded totally wicked and awesome at the EMPIRE Leicester Square last week May 7th on the biggest JBL THX sound system, possible the world at 56KW! Its the largest THX screen in the United Kingdom. Saw the film twice, once at the front row and centre and once in the middle or circle centre middle row. Low end was DEEP! JBL THX Dolby digital/ digital presentation 10/10.

  • @ Cobana- This Spock is definitely more "in touch" with his emotional/human side. It's kind of nice to see him come down from his logical high-horse a bit and get some, er, sympathy from Uhura. My main beef with the movie was what the heck was Nero doing for 25 years? (I've heard that he was captured by the Klingons, and held at Rura Pente. Will have to research that, as it's a big plot hole). Otherwise, it was a great popcorn flick, and I'll see it more than once.

  • Nero obviously settled down on a farm and lived a quiet life with his wife and children. he only decided to attack again after his son finished his university degree. this all occurred in 25 years...obviously.

  • On a bright note, because of the "alternative reality" played upon by Abrams, there is the possibility that we can see "Old Kirk"... Right? Right??!!

Bring Back Old Kirk! Berman Trek sucked ass, anyways...

  • I'm a big fan of the TOS Star Trek and will always love the original series for what it is. I think they did a damn good job on this film, considering they were introducing us to a fresh new look. With that in mind, we have to let the actors put some of their self into the characters, no one wants someone doing an impression of William Shatner, or leonard Nimoy. No one can be them.

I think all in all, a thoroughly enjoyable film, roll on Xll I say.

  • That film may change the whole "odd number films are bad" thing. Those kids aren't in the same league as Shatner and the rest, but if this is the beginning of a new series of Trek films I think it was a good start. Still not better than Wrath of Khan though....

  • Yes, yes. The same lowest common denominator people that allowed fo 12 seasons of Baywatch and 20 years of America's Funniest Home Videos.

The dumbing down of America claims yet another victim. Abrams has killed Star Trek as the thinking man's sci-fi. Now it's just Top Gun in space.

  • Star Trek (the previous film and televison installments) for the thinking man was too cerebral for the masses. I saw the new film 3 times. I liked it. Maybe alot. But I didn't love it. Nicholas Meyer this guy ain't.

  • Though it's done on a small budget with mostly amateur actors, Star Trek: Phase II (The New Voyages) has made a good attempt at re-creating the feel of the original series and is both faithful to and respectful of the characters. In Harm's Way, To Serve All My Days, and World Enough And Time are worth checking out. Not feature-film quality to be sure, but still rather enjoyable if you're an old Trek fan.

  • I agree with Mogh - I also watch and enjoy the ST fanseries Phase II (New Voyages.) My only complaint is that the folks who do the web-series have multiple projects going at once, and it takes f o r e v e r for the next installment to come out. It is better than anything we've seen in a long time though, I agree with you there 100%.

  • I was lukewarm yet enjoying New Voyages but "World Enough and Time" knocked my socks off. Very high-quality and a great performance by George T. as Old Sulu. It was fun seeing him re-visit the character just like Nimoy did with Spock in the new film. I don't get how they have better FX then the remastered TOS episodes. Ijust watched Space Seed in HD and the model for Botany Bay was terrible. It looked like a flat model with decals slapped on. New Voyages has much better FX.

  • my comments to this, seen the film loved it great film and guys just remember it is only a film!!!!

  • Are you kidding? I can tell by your name that you're a Trekkie, so my shock is even greater. Think about TOS and look at the new movie. Pine perfectly executed the swagger of Kirk (he even sat like him!), Quinto (hand picked by Nimoy and studied with him for 6 months) encompassed Spock's Human/Vulcan duality excellently (Amok Time). You have to remember that this is them at their youngest and that it an altered timeline, and you're lying to yourself if you say its un-Trek-like to alter the past.

  • Amok time is a great example. Look at how Nimoy portrays the human/vulcan duality in that episode, and how the character conducts himself while dealing with that struggle. Now compare it to Quinto's performance. The two Spocks are nothing alike (except in appearance), even taking into account that this was a younger version of the character. Quinto's Spock was too immature and lacked the dignity that Nimoy gave the character. And Spock kissing Uhura with people looking on? Way out of character!

  • Yeah that Spock kissing Uhura stunt took me way out of the film. I thought the bridge kinda sucked too. But I liked the film. But Wrath of Khan it was not.

  • Totally agree. I just don't see Spock as someone who falls in love. He had plenty of opportunities to in the original series and never took them.

  • I didn't like Spock making out with Uhura on the transporter pad either, leaving Kirk to just stand there, stupidly, waiting for them to finish. And as far as the bridge goes...could it have been any brighter? And did any one else notice that the Enterprise escaped the gravitational pull of a black hole not once, but twice in this film? And don't get me started about beaming someone from a planet lightyears-away to a starship that is traveling away at high warp.

  • I never said it was un-Trek-like to alter the past. I just characterized some of the changes as ridiculous and unnecessary. If more things had been changed for the better and made sense, it wouldn't be an issue. Also, it was clear early on that they had altered several things in this version's timeline that had nothing to do with the Romulans' influence. Despite us looking at the storyline and performances differently, I would think it's obvious that this was indeed a dumbed-down version Trek.

  • @turtle4llama I'm sorry, but Pine, as good as he was as Kirk, was simply too different from Shat's Kirk.

But thats only expected by the timeline changes, anyway.

  • @turtle4llama pine was a peice of shit bro. perfectly executed my ass!! this movie was a huge fucking disappointment.

  • @turtle4llama Destroying a franchise is bad buisness.

  • I think Quinto and the guy who played Bones (can't remember his name) both did great jobs. I thought Pine was decent, but was hardly overwhelmed by him. He did get the Kirk mannerisms down well, and it had me laughing at some parts.

  • boo hoo

  • Thanks for the input.

  • ok, Well according to the old Star Trek Encylepedia , George was his brother and Samuel was his Nephew... But Then again... his brother might have been nmed after his father and his nephew inherited his middle name.

Its Star Trek , so anything is possible. And my book is out dated anyways..lol .Its time to upgrade it.

  • His brother was named after his father -George, but was called Sam. Operation Annihilate is the ep were you can see more info about it.

  • I meant info about the nephew whom I barely remember, the ep for the name was I think The Enemy Within. I am slightly rusty though, maybe I should check on Memory Alpha before posting again.... :P

  • Starfleet is one big happy family after all.

  • My problem was that his father and mothers name in the movies where that of his brother and sister-in-law. His parents never had names in the series.

But its STAR TREK .. again .. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.

Over all , I loved the film.

  • As far as know his father's name was George Samuel Kirk and his brother;'s first name was Samuel. I'm not sure about his mother.

  • Ok ..well for starters , Im a trekker . I went to the movies in my Cpt. Kirk Uniform from TOS and I have spent every night for the past 3 months watching all 3 seasons over and over.

The movie was AWESOME. The actors were a PERFECT choice. ANd due to the time line being altered, ANYTHING is possible in the Star Trek Universe.

As for Kirks father being a farmer ... well hey, its possible he could have been drafted for this one event. ITS STAR TREK .

  • considering the movie is an alternate time line, anything out of sync would be allowed. That is why things don't make sense. Also using this premise, JJ could easily bring Bill Shatner into any new movie.

  • Well, I read almost every comment and here's my thoughts: I haven't seen the movie yet, although I'm a Trekkie. Oh, and don't say I'm not, just because I haven't got the chance to see it...I only heard good things about Star Trek XI and I know I will love it!! Personally speaking I do love William Shatner, he's fantastic, but I think he shouldn't play in the next movie...Chris Pine was a perfect choice for Kirk, he's a very talented young actor. Go Chris!!

  • Where to start? For one, the timeline was already wrong, before the Romulans even got there. Kirk's dad was not in Star Fleet, he was a farmer. But, coincidentally, if the Star Fleet dad dies, the mom marries a farmer? Ugh. It gets worse. Cadet to Captain, in one mission? Can't happen. Not possible. Silly cadet, starships are for seasoned officers. It could temporarily happen in a circumstance, but once everything is right in the world again, you're dreamin', cadet, get the fuck outta m'chair.

  • Intelligent fans will turn their backs on this farce, only the brainless will remain. Goodbye, Star Trek, it was fun while it lasted. To paraphrase the final TNG, "All good things must end."

  • It looks promising that shatner would be in the next film, but I dont think he will be, cause it would be hard to fit it in to the consequtive workings of the films i.e. he died in Generations! - unless! they say the klingons nicked neros time travel capability, altered the timeline we have come to know, then shatner who as a result didnt die (and perhaps became admiral or something) goes to get help from the new star trek universe of the new film?

  • they are trying to "restart" the franchise. They kept the characters and the spirit of the show in the new film (despite having idiots for screenwriters-the pair of them wrote Transformers.. ugh) but the Star Trek movie was great and wel freakin awesome. The would have had Shat if, they wanted to have him but the story wouldn't have worked to have him. It is hard to say goodbye to Shat's Kirk, sure, but didn't we do that already in Generations?

  • That was a nice video. Too bad all the comments here are angry...

  • aww this is a nice video. captin my captin

I am glad jj shows much respect!

  • Still wish William Shatner was in the movie! Thx for sharing.

  • Yeah, that's right, Abrams, you'd BETTER bow!! At least Shatner had the decency to invite Abrams and his cronies to Shatner's event, even though Abrams didn't allow Shatner to be in the film. What an ass.

  • "Allow"? "Allow"?!? Please. When are Shatner's fans going to remove their heads from the man's arse for five minutes? The story didn't warrant it, the film didn't need it - anything else would have been ego-pandering. Star Trek isn't, wasn't and never shall be solely about William Shatner - KIRK, the character, the man's swagger, his arrogance, his devil-may-care attitude. was in the film, 100%, simple as. Deal with it, grieve if you have to, move on...

  • I just want to say I think the Shatners are doing an awesome job with this channel, mixing newsy stuff with behind the scenes stuff. Well done!

  • That jacket Alex Krutzman is rocking is pretty pimp.

  • Jar Jar Abrams lends his presence to a good cause. Well, goody, goody! I can almost taste the conceit.....Go back to TV, JarJar. Leave filmmaking to the professionals. You come off like a frightened geek. Get a life!

  • I thought this area was for commenting on the video shown on this page. But, apparently this area is for discussing the new Star Trek picture...

    Shat rules!

  • He put up this clip no doubt because he wants to show he's a gentleman, and not mad about being completely slapped in the face by JJ. roflol The point we're all trying to make is that he's lucky he wasn't in the movie and JJ did him a favor by not putting him in it cause he and his movie sucks. roflol

  • Star Trek is now for noobs.

  • lol

  • I mean, if you look at it, Shatner and Nimoy it's said used to have arguments over who was the main character in Star Trek. It's said that Shatner got mad because Nimoy was always upstaging him and taking lines and was always more popular. This movie was like a total slap in the face of Shatner. It totally made Kirk a second banana to Spock. This movie was like 95% about Spock. It's insulting and sad.

  • If Shat really had a grudge against Nimoy he apparently got over that long ago. These days they seem like they get along pretty well. While Shat has an ego (But in Hollywood, you gotta have one) He seems to have mellowed out considerably over the past 40 years. He admits to his faults and has accepted himself to the point where he even can make fun of himself.

If there IS any degree of dissapointment in Shatner, he's a true professional and not letting it show. He's an incredibly good sport.

  • Check out the DVD "Mind Meld". It's a conversation on video between Shatner and Nimoy. I bought it rather cheaply online. You really get the feeling that they are close friends. It's a must have for any TOS Trekkie.

  • Kirk kisses Uhura!!!! Not SPOCK!!! wth!?!?!

  • JJ couldn't have done better than to write a movie that was titled, "Let's piss off star trek fans." I mean how to you invalidate a historical and important moment of history as the first black woman kissing a white man on tv, by making Uhura kiss Spock instead of Kirk!! This movie was just wrong on every level.

  • Not to mention the fact that having Spock boinkin' Uhura takes away from his "trying to be an emotionless Vulcan" facet of his character, Plus if he's involved with anyone it should be nurse Chapel. In TOS she wanted him bad. Of course she was AWOL despite being a more prevalent character then Checkov and Sulu in the series. (Rand is missing too)

  • Yup, I said that in an earlier comment. I'm really pissed it didn't have Rand in it.

  • I call Temporal Prime Directive!!!!! on this stupid movie. roflol

  • I mean, if you're going to rewrite Trek in an alternate universe, why not put Rand in it and have her and Kirk get together that was stolen from them in the original series. Instead they made Spock fall in love with Uhura!!! The insanity. This movie should be called, "Spocks wild dream." roflol It all happened in Spocks mind. Yup, that's the way out of this pittful movie. roflol

  • i get what your saying about the reality of the movie. uhura was also romanticlly involved with scotty, but he later declined any other advances, uhura likes sex and attention, then again who doesnt?

  • Hey she was a showgirl in Vegas baby! (Nichelle Nichols was anyway.) I wonder if Shat ever hit that. I would have. Damn would I...

  • according to shat in star trek memories he never did. however gene roddenberry was.

  • I mean, think of it...what this movie says. If it's left to stand, all the movies, and series in the minds of fans never happened!?? wth!!?

  • I'm pissed it didn't have Rand in it too. I mean the least they coulda done is get some hot chick to be Rand, that woulda at least added a bit more sex appeal to the movie. roflol

  • Those episodes that were meant to be fun and didn't have those components had one thing in common. They put the timeline right in the end, and didn't destroy one of the major plot points in the series and left a point for the next episode to begin. As it is now, the next movie is going to have to be about correcting the timeline if anyone actually wants to do an interesting trek movie. roflol

  • ive just seen judgement at nurenberg and some of the earlier work of mr Shatners .........BELLISIMO!!

  • Mr. Shatner

    You are the man!

  • Star Trek mythology contains 3 components 1. utopian society and the values that contribute to it 2. parallels to modern day situations 3. hopeful and inspiring to the viewers

If you don't have those three things, you don't have Star Trek. They were not in the movie.

  • You're both bastards who fail to appreciate the political insight and dramatic realism the great Ira Steven Behr brought to Star Trek with the brilliant and unsurpassed Seasons 3 though 7 of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. You and Abrams deserve each other for making a career out of superficial tripe instead of commenting on the most pressing issues of our time, such as the motivations behind terrorism.

That said, Star Trek 5 had more heart to it than this new desecration of Star Trek!

  • you haven't seen the movie, admit it. As shatner said himself on SNL "get a life you people"

  • Priceline negotiator! (karate chop!)

  • you haven't seen the movie, admit it. As shatner said himself on SNL "get a life you people"

  • I am very glad that JJ came to something that is important to you.

  • GREAT movie!!

  • tototally

  • Live Long and Prosper... Fantastic Star Trek reboot.

  • They pressed the wrong key.

  • the new star trek is class, your all a bunch of sad assholes, you'd rather see star trek die than go see the new one? the guys restyling a knackered old horse instead of flogging it to death like it has been for the last 20 years

in the words of mr Nimoy himself, "your all a bunch of dickheads"

  • I'd rather see it die than be perverted into something like this. Nimoy is a traitor.

  • There are fan fic productions of Star trek that are better than this steaming pile of terd.

  • Right on. It isn't like they're going back and rehashing or bastardizing the old ones *cough (Lucas). You people are whining as though someone broke into your home and swapped your favorite couch for something modern that wasn't exactly what you wanted.

No one has touched the old movies or the old show. If you like them so much, watch them, idiot.

  • It is like they're going back and bastardizing the old ones. If this is the future of trek it's completely wrong. This movie should have boosted the Trek franchise and made it interesting again, instead they just stomped on trek some more. I do watch the past movies and series religiously, almost everyday. I won't ever watch that movie again though. roflol

  • I just want to say cause it just sounds funny...no disrespect...

    "Yea Abrams...embrace the Passion....yea"

    lol

  • That movie was horrible. I for one was glad you weren't in it Mr Shatner. roflol

  • The destroyed Vulcan, Romulus, coincidentally marooned Spock and Kirk on the same planet, making Spock do something completely out of character, I don't care how "emotionally compromised" he was, totally raped starship design, and Nimoy's acting was unfortunately below par and without character development. Sad horrible star trek. It's like the saying goes, "odd number treks suck." Personally I plan to ignore this incarnation of Trek. Sad and disappointing.

  • Oh yeah, Scotty too. How ridiculous of a plot point. Of all the billions of planets in the universe, Scotty, Kirk, and Spock time traveling to the past, who the guy who was out to kill him, lets him live and maroons him on a planet that Kirk just happens to have been marooned on by Spock, in an out of character action, and just happened to have Scotty there. roflol So insanely stupid.

  • Oh yeah.. And then to get the characters back on the enterprise, not only does he have Scotty create a transporter that can beam them onto a starship traveling at warp, but one that's who knows how many parsecs away already? Why do they even need starships in the first place if Scotty can invent a trans parsec transporter!???? roflol JUST STUPID!!!

  • They should call this movie "Signs Trek", full of so many plot holes the movie doesn't many any sense, but still is a hit because of the reputation of the writer. Still getting good reviews and idiots still liking it too. roflol

  • Umm ever thought of the possibility you were the one to stupid to comprehend most of the movie and therefor assumed it must have been because of bad writing...Also the big draw is the director and the fact its FRKN TREK. Not because of the writer... But enlighten me what plot holes?

  • The ones I just wrote about in the 5 previous messages? Did you read what I wrote before the message you commented on?

  • The MAIN problem with this movie is. How do you continue Star Trek based on this movie at all? How to continue trek with no Vulcan, or in the original timeframe honoring this movie with no Romulus?? And some Supernova's that's threatened the galaxy that who knows what happened, is Earth destroyed too since Spock failed? How do you continue in a universe where intra parsec warp beaming is possible. What point do starships even have in that kind of universe except as military vessels.

  • What point does warp even have? Why not just beam a ship across the universe?

  • I don't think they have ever not made a Star Trek movie because of a lack of storylines. The movie is doing well at the box office. MONEY is the reason Star Trek would not continue after this movie not plot holes or storyline.

  • If they keep making Star treks' that have plot holes, crappy storyline, and suck. Eventually the money will fall off.

  • I dont understand what plot holes your

Talking about? I saw the movie and thought it was great, I sure as hell preferred it than those newer slices of shit star wars movies. And where would the excitement and adventure be in simply beaming from one side to the other side of the universe? but then again everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

  • Geeze I couldnt wait to get to the end of your boring comment, so first its corporate line scripting then its the world? I dont give a shit about your gay revolution there happy ass. Its a movie, ANYTHING is feasible. If a dog wants to meow, itll meow. And as for being adept I guess your really socking it to them/us by wasting your time trying to prove other people wrong through Youtube comments

    Bravo jackass.

  • If you think so little of youtube comments, why are you commenting at all? A dog doesn't want anything, but to sleep, eat, and screw, it's a dog. If it want's to meow, let alone does, it better have a good reason, or it's not going to make any sense, and it's going to suck and be stupid.

  • Signs still scored reasonably at the box office because of the reputation of the writer, which is what my comment was about. Trek is obviously still doing well because it's Trek and because of Abrams both.

  • Agreed

  • Since when is imitating what you've seen before pass or fail? Pine's take better be different because this Kirk didn't grow up with a Dad he admired. Similar to Nemesis actually.

An actor is an artist; Kirk is a character.

If you've ever followed a comic book, you should understand that artist come and go, the ones that have their own style but remain true to the character are the ones we're grateful for.

  • I'm so sad Shatner is not in the new movie... That was probably the last chance! :-(

  • omg i just watched the new movie and holy cow they had every one peged down to a tee with personalitys , except Kirk , he cant be memicked :P still awesome movie ! loved every minute of it! Wish they could of brought william in it some how,but of course that would just be out of the question with the past of it all any ways (((HUGS)))

  • I'd love to see Bill in a ST movie again! And I'd love new Danny Crane scenes aswell.

Damn Bill, you're an awesome actor, even in private vids :)

  • I love Shatner, and still love this new movie as well. Best Trek movie ever. I wish as much as anyone else that we could have the original cast and the original kirk with this quality of writing and especially this budget, but we don't. So let's just be grateful that the wonder of Trek, including Kirk Prime, will now be open to new audiences who might not have watched it otherwise. It's good for everyone.

  • I totally agree. I expected a crap, considering jj in combination with new actors and new story, but it turned out fantastic! amazing story and acting. who would have thought that pine, being so gayish and cute looking, could so perfectly played kirks arrogant personality:) glorious times for star trek community. star trek lives again! change of time line was absolute bingo.

  • Star Trek XI was a letdown, even Nemesis was better... But Trek needs new fans, so we have this now, great. :( At least they should make a DS9 TV or direct-to-DVD movie from the profits. And I'd love to see a new season of Enterprise too, anything but more of this "new Trek".

  • No one can replace Reeve but Routh did as good as anyone could have. Can't say the same for Pine as Kirk. "The LORD our Bale" rocks as Batman, he makes Keaton look gay.

  • i just shatnered myself watching this

  • Considering the thumbs down I've gotten on some posts it seems no one here has a sense of humor.

  • common knowledge that shatner would dumptruck locklear on an hourly basis so yes that is what i meant

  • Apologies to those I offended. While I think my comments where funny (and that's how they were meant) they where of a level of vulgarity not in my usual character. I shouldn't post after taking Ambien.

  • Everytime I see Zachary standing next to people I keep thinking, "Run! He's going to steal your powers!"

  • OMG. They're hugging. That's like a rupture to the space-time continuum! :)

  • The reason Routh couldn't replace Reeve was because he was trying to (which was the directors fault by the way). Pine, like Ledger, didn't try to replace an actor, he found the essence and brought his own take to it. I've been very happy to see maturity and grace between these talented and very fortunate actors.
