one, maybe the best concert in my entire life: I remember 1988 in Hamburg, Alsterdorfer Sporthalle Germany; 13 blacks a came out a large Disco ball and beleave me the all entire hall dance the night away
I wish I could find the song "You and I" from this album that he sings at 2:52. They must have another song with the same name but I dont want that one.
All terrific superb videos.Maurice,im also a musician but a soloist of easylistening song style.i love the way how your voice have sounded whether the pitch goes up and down
Sorry to correct you Superstar X but you are 100% wrong on TWO things. First of all, this is NOT the classic line up of the band. The "classic" line up (that produced ALL the biggest hits and went into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) was Maurice, Verdine, Phillip, Ralph, Al Mckay, Johnny Graham, Larry Dunn, Andrew Woolfolk and FRED White(Reese and Verdine"s brother). 2nd, Reese has NEVER quit the bank, he still performs on occasion, still produces but has Parkinson's disease
I am a HUGE fan, probably the biggest EWF fan, EVER.
I was at the Radio City Music Hall's performance on Jan. 29, 1988.
Anway, does anyone have a full copy or know where I can get a copy of this concert performance or ANY Touch the World concert performance? I have been looking for YEARS. I am especially interested in the intro which I think was the most amazing beginning I have ever witnessed.
me too; I saw them in Hamburg those days back in 1998, and I was speechless, 14 musicians get out of huge Disco ball which was hanging on the ceiling; buy the way lots of disco balls and stars.
Well well...this is when Philip lost his voice for awhile (luckily it gradually came back to some degree). These earlier videos were also uncut...unlike the later videos which were obviously overdubbed (vocally) . But you know what ? I don't even care because this is the greatest band that ever was . I've seen them a few times recently in Vegas....but without Maurice , the greatness is missing . They're still good to see....but I really miss Maurice......ALOT :)
Hi DJW1988, this is a great masterpiece of this group, that is one of my favorites. I have a question, where can I find this material of EWF? Does exist a dvd?
I wait for your answer and thanks for posting this.
Thanls for showing this!! This was my first concert (I was 12) and I'll never forget it. It set the standard for every other show I saw after that, for real!
me too, my friend, I was 22 and I was speechless, never have seen a better and more dynamic concert; The Beginning 12 black musician stepped out from a Discoball AMAZING
It's amazing that the current EWF horn section has been together 20 years with only one change in members (Bobby Burns, Jr. replaced Ray Brown on trumpet/Flugelhorn)
Correction: Gary Bias stepped out (why, I don't know) and was replaced by Scott Mayo 1995-1997. That's why Scott is on In The Name Of Love. The funny thing is Gary Bias is was on tour for that album.
I don't know about that. Scott Mayo was added to replace Andrew Woolfolk when he left after the Millennium album in 1993 to keep the continuity of a tenor sax player.
If i was in charge of the soundboard on this one i'd definatly put the bass from the drum and the lead guitar up a bit more! It is indeed a different sound to back in the day and i'm not sure what i prefer.. this is probably the best concert i have seen on tape so far though!
Another things to add for historical fact, Larry Dunn (keys), Al Mackay (guit), Fred White (drums) and Johnny graham (guit) were not part of the reunion tour in 1989, as well as the Phoenix horn. It s amazing to listen to the difference in term of sound, the guitars in this performance are less predominant than their 70's and early 80's concert performance. Still the sound is clear and the vocals are great, no overdub.
Comeback?? They have never been away!!

I saw them in 1994. Sadly without Maurice. It was an excellent show, but was kind of like seeing the Beatles without John Lennon.

Live in japan 94' got maruice white it's his last full concert tour with the band.
Maybe the one you saw is after the one in japan.

So great to see Earth Wind & Fire in their classic line up here. They were mega f*cking great with Maurice White. Sadly he quit the band.

Nope. If you notice (Live in Montreux 1997 and Sinbad's Soul Festival 1995) Gary Bias and Scott Mayo never shared a stage.
