  • I often eat this type of veggie dish but usually as a main course - the difference being that I add sausage or chopped chicken and top it off with Parmesan cheese. Still if meat free is your choice, this recipe is quite ideal.

    :)

  • you can cook chickpeas separately with a pinch of Bicarbonate of Soda. With soda it cooks faster. You need to do separately because if vegies or spices you add has tartness then soda's magic is neutralized by tartness.

  • It looks really bland to be honest!

  • @funfrogys well it depends how much spice you add, and what sort.

  • chick peas have fat in them

  • @grendle1500 sorry, I meant 3 per cent fat at most. And no saturated fat to speak of.

  • As a french i have to tell you that :

    Petits pois = peas

    Pois-chiches = chickpeas

    Your recipe looks good anyway

    Aurevoir

  • @lolitagohome1 over here we call normal size peas just "peas" or sometimes garden peas, very small peas "petit pois" and chick peas chick peas (or occasionally "gram").

  • this doesn't look so tasty.. I would have added other veggies. This does look pretty though =)

  • Looks yummy ;) I tried to do something with a can of chickpeas a few days ago, but it didn't taste good - I used way too much tomato puree & didn't add any spices. It ended up as some sort of Italian dish, when what I really wanted was something more Asian/Indian.

  • @atozinco yes, herbs and spices are the key to everything!

  • Funny, I hadn't seen this when I described the Egyptian chick pea dish in the other video.

Do you not eat meat or nuts? A fast and delicious dish I make sometimes is stir-fried peas (petits-pois as you called them) with slivered almonds (don't use the sliced almonds, they turn to mush), onions and ground steak + curry spice.

If I want to stretch the dish for more people, I then add a can of diced tomatoes, so it turns into a stew instead of a stir-fry, and serve it on couscous.

  • I eat whatever is cheap or that I have in my cupboards already.

  • looks like this will last only 3 servings not forever like she said.

  • I get bored quite quickly so three meals of the sam ething just feels like forever! I think it might have lasted more than three meals, mind.

  • I used to make videos like this showing how To surive on wat was left in fridge. Made a dry hmoured cooking sketch called cooking with Dee! You'd like it

  • Sounds good!

  • watch some indian ways to make it lady trust me the diference is like earth and sky lol

  • Yes obviously this is not an authentic chick pea curry as made in India with proper spices - it is what I made with bits from the back of my fridge and my old spice cupboard. Make do and mend!

  • she should turn the stove on lol

  • and the point of the video is?

  • wth, looks like your desesperated as fuck to believe this shits.

  • One of the best vegetables ever! That and spinach are my favourites.

  • lol ... you have inspired me. I'm going to throw a bunch of vegetables and spices in the basket and cook it all up and see what it tastes like.

  • you rmeind me of Michael Jackson. Don't ask me why

  • why did she add turmeric? to make it yellow

  • and it tasted?

  • Interesting!

  • I have a similar recipe without the chick peas. That's the surprise.

  • Could you send some to me please?

  • In the begining i was like, Uuurghh how are you gonna eat that!!! But when you cooked it all, I wouldent mind having that for my lunch!

  • It looks like the kind of stuff my dad would cook up out of leftovers, but without the lambs liver fried into it.

  • Ingenious! Keep cooking up those weird and wonderful culinary delights! And remember if Vegemite can become a famous Australian bread topping, you can probably package the left overs and sell them to Australian backpackers to make some extra money on the side.

  • It's a colourful Slop!

  • Eat more fast food.

  • This was pretty much as fast as it gets!

  • How long does it take to cook?

  • Wanna come and cook for me ;)

  • mmm... chick peas, red peppers, spinach.

  • Not my cup of Darjeeling, but hey, it'd be boring if we were all the same. As long as YOU enjoyed it Elise.

  • Well it was very much based on things I had available. It's the sort of thing I make when I can't really make anything else and am using up the cupboard food. It tastes good though.

  • YA TRY IT LARK

  • Tumeric is good on veggies?

  • Yes. And it's good with eggs or mashed potato too. Especially with butter.

  • mmmmmm spinach! have to eat more of it! I think mushrooms could be a good way to upgrade this dish!

  • i'll try to make that :)

  • Bon appetit!

  • YAY, this is an awesome recipe, thanks, I shall give chick peas a chance.

  • Delicious...I love vegetable soups of any kind!

  • Ah! Garbanzo Beans! Simple Chick Pea Salad: Can of Chick Peas, chopped Onion, Olive Oil, Vinegar and Oregano. Yum! BTW: Your food looked tasty! 5*****

  • It was tasty!

  • Could you send me some in the post?! Looks yummy....and almost anyone can eat it! ....I'm so hungry, just the sight of food makes my stomach rumble, especially on YouTube... well, except for the celeriac, that didn't look particulary too appetising.

  • I hate peas and chick peas!! (O_O) But I am kinda hungry after watching this... I haven't put any dinner on yet and it's getting late. Hmmm, what to do... what to do.

  • Can i have some it looks yummy!

  • Dear Elise,

Have you ever been to the States? If not, you should totally try to. We have nice trees, pretty people, and subtle sexism here.

    Kyle Parris

  • I have been, twice, yes. Is the sexism actually all that subtle though

  • Twice, huh? What parts?

    Kyle Parris

  • New York and Orlando. Although Orlando isn't really a proper place. Did not even visit Disneyland.

  • You haven't lived until you've been to California. It's nothing like the rest of the United States. I've been to nearly every single state, many, many times. California just gives me a special feeling. Nothing like a dark desert highway.

  • That looks extremely tasty. What's the surprise part of it all? Or does the surprise come after the meal? In any case, I would eat it. I do like chick peas and spinach.

  • I think the surprise comes afterwards!

  • I unsubcribed :( I did so due to lack of communication, no interest in making conversation, no interest in getting to know each other and standard insincere generic well wishes to situations where abit of care & concern would have been appreciated. Sorry.

  • OK - I am sorry you feel that way. The last few weeks have been a bit hectic. It is very hard to get across sincerity in text anyway. I hope things pick up for you soon though.

  • I just genuinely made an effort to get to know you and you just didn't seem interested :( I was always trying to make conversation & instead on carrying it on you gave me standard answers which made it hard to chat :(

Sincerity is possible but I expected more than "Hope you're ok". I guess it was arrogant presumption on my part though.

  • Oh come on, she's not Oprah. :-)

  • Lol I'm aware of that. I just expected more of a friendly and caring response. Hence why it was my fault for assuming.

    Anyway no harm done.

  • Gosh, all this sounds a bit needy. Elise is just putting up videos and sometimes replying to comments. Don't invest too much in all this 8-)

  • Go to SonneyDey at MySpace and I'll give a go at being your Father Confessor, what the heck.

  • Your rations look healthy but also anti-constipatory. Well, maybe its that the liquified spinach that emanates the visual impression of laxative type features. Good eats, anyhow!

  • Do you have any recipes for a gentleman who is terrified of his dilapidated stove/oven? Looked very good, though. Hope you're feeling better (and well nourished)!

  • Top Chef! Great Meal :)

  • I hope your not a struggling starving actress :(, youll make it big someday!

  • Pretty much how it is at the moment!

  • suff them with chickpeas and turmeric lol

    hope ur feeling better :)

  • Why is it "turmeric, as always"? Is it your favorite spice or le spice du moment?

  • I seem to add it to everything. Perhaps because I have a very big bag of it.

  • I've found nothing about Tumeric being a tumor fighter as you touted once, but I eat it anyway for fear of cancer now.

My spice chart says "Tumeric: Improves memory; Wards off mental decline." I lay down with a poultice of it and it didn't help

me... perhaps 6 weeks as with anti depressants and I'll have results. As for now I'm sporting an orange forehead.

  • Yes it can stain. There is a lot online about its anti-cancer properties though.

  • You know u can buy spinach in bags non frozen- thats what I use. So it retains all of its spinachey goodness.

  • Yes but if you get it frozen you can just get a chunk when you need it. I usually fail at washing the bags of spinach properly too and end up with a mouthful of grit!

  • It adds to the flavour for me! yum

  • Lol, did you just say spinachey goodness? Lol!
