Stop taking your data from a clean F-16. A standard F-16 with a light weapon load maximum speed is 1.3 Mach. The F-35A can do the same a 1.6 Mach. Clean planes mean nothing. The internal weapon loading of the F-35A is 18000lbs. The F-16 maximum is 17000lbs. Add to that the F-35 can carry an additional 15000 externally. And you are correct I mixed up the Stealth RCS of the F-22 and F-35 (1 sq inch vs. 2 sq inches).

You are also correct about the max payload (this is with external) of the F-35. Its is greater then the F-16. However a max +/- 16.000 kg F-16 and a 27.000 kg F-35 is kind of a big difference. just putting a stronger engine in it doesn't compensate for it. The F-16 is also designed to reach 17.000 feat (actual is a little over 15.400). The F-35 won't go over 15.000.
Nontheless I think the F-35 project is completely pointless. We don't need a stealthplane in todays war. Do terrorists have jet fighters? Do terrorists have long range SAMs? So far: no. Those annoying basterds are fighting a guerilla war on the ground. So what use is a stealth plane? Maybe nice for tomorrow but if we don't win todays war...? The US, Australia, New Zealand, Korea and South Vietnam killed more than 3 million Vietnamese in that war. The US lost approx 50,000, Australia 500, I don't know the rest.

Many years at the academy less people apply for slots then they have so everyone that wants to fly gets to. Every year their are roughly 1050 pilot slots...500 for AFROTC, 500 for the academy, and 50 for OCS.
The commercial makes it seem like it's easy to be a pilot. Being a pilot is one of the most difficult specialties, you need to be a CO first of all, which can take up to four years, as well as have a degree. You have to be extremely well conditioned, physically and mentally. Then, 55 weeks of some the most brutal and scrutinizing training and evaluating of your life...

Now, I'm talking about the F-22. There are hundreds of other planes to pilot, which obviously make odds of being a pilot in general much higher, but the commercial and my point is about the F-22, and the "anybody can do this" vibe the commercial gives out.
I figuratively said "literally, one in a million", if that even makes sense. How can it be those odds if there aren't even 1M in the USAF to begin with.

@OnThe23rd Saying it's one and a million gives a false sense of the chance. Becoming a pilot is very possible if the right steps are taken. As of right now, yes F22 is rare to fly, and it's not for everyone.

There are three types of F-35's the coventinal take off and landing then the vertical take offs and a carrier based varient.Als o about the F-22 and the YF-23 the F-22 has a bigger armament. The US has the best Airforce in the world so don't complain about my brothers friend sisteris i the USAF.

That's Top Secert and you will never know. They can give a statement to the press but so does the president. How much does it cost to maintain it. $ The F-22 lost funding. Emagine what would happen w/ a more expensive radical design aircraft Y/F-23. Ex. You can buy a Chevy Malibu SS or a BMW M5 . Sure the BMW is a little faster, edger design, great handling. But the Malibu is cheaper, more reliable, almost as fast but just as good handling. $ is what made this decesion in the end. USAF #1 92AMXS

First off....The F-15 is gonna get retired but its postpone b/c of lack of funding, the F-22 keeps on breaking down and alot of people say its junk. 2nd the F-35+F-16 is a joint strike fighter. The F-22+F-15 a air superior fighters. "DANGIN5" WRONG!!! They will keep the F-15E's and retire the rest. Prob sell them to other countries. They are in the process of a new KC-135 and a new proto of a air-superior fighter is in the works but it takes time and money. USAF is the best in the world!

Production has stopped for the F/A-22. but you really think their not going to use the ones already made? The F-15 has no chance against 21st century aircraft. It's going to be replaced by the F/A-22. And the F-16 will be replaced by the F-35.

buddy. Th F-15 is a 20th century aircraft. Yes it has never been shot down. But cheap ground to air missiles can take it out. It's been around forever.
The F-14 as an aircraft very similar to the F-15, and it was retired not that long a go. The F-15 is on it's way to retirement as we speak.
It has maybe another year left. But all good things must end. And the F-15 is seeing it's last days.

I'm Navy but went to Lackland AFB for Military Police school.
The AF recruits are allowed to go and dick around inside the exchange's food court and they get dozens of phone calls a week.
I'm not saying that the AF is bad or anything but i can honestly say that their bootcamp is weak as fuck hahahahaha
