  • That's brilliant! I'd love to know the names of those two pieces.

  • Oh an as for inkybell comment, when your in the zone, its almost like a trance, not happy, not sad, just... just ...cant describe it, closest i can get is peace... freedom...troubles so far away. banjo, guitar, mandolin or even my motorcycle gives me the same thing, ps i am trying to get my brother-in-law who repairs piono's to donate a few hundred feet of strings and tuning pegs so i can finish of my hammered dulcimer and start learning. :-) (always was a cheapskate lol)

  • First set sounds like a cross between an Irish jig and african east coast, whats the name of the first set ?

  • FYI the price of admission has gone up. It's now $5. for three and a half days. This year it'll be held July 15-18. Check out the festival's website at dulcimers . com to get all the details.

  • @dulcimers

I smile when I play, it's fun, enjoyable and very relaxing to run chords and arpegios and NOT play the same song 6 times.

  • Love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite instument. Keep playing and maybe sometime I will get to this festival.

  • Very nice-- I hope to make it to the funfest! We are in the U.P. and love this music!

  • Like these tunes. What are they?

  • Thankyou so much. It was an exciting experience to hear. John. Canada.

  • Magical!

  • Would someone please explain why none of them people have a smile on their face and why are they all playing the same note, over an over again. BORING!! IS THAT WHY THE SAD FACES??

  • It's really hard to play that well and smile too. When most folks concentrate hard on something, they don't smile. But believe me they're having a wonderful time. If it was in a performance setting, they'd work harder to play to the audience, but this was just an informal jam. They were playing for their own enjoyment.

I can't understand why you hear only one note. The two tunes played are traditional. They have lots of notes which I hear distinctly. Obviously it's not your thing.

  • YOu should see my funny concentration face when I perform.

  • Where is it? Holy cow.

  • This is the annual Original Dulcimer Players Funfest held each year in the tiny town of Evart, MI, in the center of the Mitten.

It's the world's largest gathering of hammered dulcimers.

This was a pre-fest jam in the "workshop leader rest area" and included some pretty great musicians but similiar jams were going on elsewhere on the grounds.

This is the most awesome event imaginable and it costs $3!!!!!!!

Third weekend of July in Evart, Michigan. You gotta be there to believe it.
