and actually sorry for the double post, but, I have two Polk MM1040's in seperate sealed boxes, how would I wire them this way without compromising the "sealdness?" off my boxeds..?
good informational vid but you go to fast installing everything, i mean, i get the idea, but nice visuals are great too.. just sayin,. lol and I know the flies were gettin ya too lol
@22DISA22 You need to wire them in a paralell configuration for a final impedence of 2 ohms. This is done by daisy chaining all the postive terminals to the positive of the amp and daisy chaining the negative terminals to the negative of the amp. We hope this helps.
Hello i was hoping you can help me out. I have FOUR memphis 12" 4ohm = 250 RMS peak speakers and i want to know whats the best way to run it with my amp (memphis 1100W RMS Class-D Monoblock)
Should i leave it to 4 Ohm or try to go down to 2 ohms? Thank you!
Hi so I got my hifonics hfi 2000. Before I install it I'd like your advice. It says it needs 4 gauge wire but I also came across your video about the big 3 upgrade, and It caught my attention because it says it helps with the dimming headlights. So my question is can I just use 0 gauge wire instead of buying the kit and would it be alright to run 0 gauge to the amp. Oh and one last thing I saw a video and they put a fuse between the alternator and the battery. What fuse rating is it supposed be?
@stormer1092 Running them at 4 ohms will cause the amplifier to run at cooler temperatures. Keep in mind that the lower the ohm load, the hotter the amplifier is going to run.
i have a question i have 3 10" punch p2's they are 250 watts rms each 8 ohms each. i have them in parallel at 2.6 ohms. i have a 360 watt rockford fosgate amp, but i know this isn't sufficient power. my question is can a hifonics hfi 2000 watt amp pick them up or will this blow the speakers. let me know whenever you can. and if possible i'd appreciate recommendations as to which amp would be good for the p2's. they're single voice coil by the way. thanks
@marchi3908 If you wire the subs in parallel at 2.6 ohms to the hfi2000 this should be fine. You will be pushing around 1000 watts to the subs which would require 750 watts RMS if there are 3 of them. Just make sure to adjust your gain accordingly as to not blow the subs.
Im getting 2 kicker cvx122's and on your website it says the impedance is a dual 2 ohm and i am also getting a Hifonics HFi3000D amplifier, how would i need to wire it to get 750rms to each woofer? Do i wire them the same exact way you did in this video? Please help. Thank you very much !
@kigen818 You will need to wire it a different way then the video. The video shows a parallel configuration and you need a series configuration. Please follow the link to our wiring diagram tool:
@killa4nyah They will probably be pretty close considering that both of these set up will have the same amount of Cone surface area. The 3 10's will give you a more responsive bass but the 2 15's will give you a deeper bass. If you want deep bass go with the 2 15s and if you want tighter bass go with the 3 10s.
Hi I have a question which. Subs are better kicker comp or kicker cvr and is a hifonics hfi 2000 Watts good to push three. I just need a professional opinion on which to get either the comp's or cvr's. Thanks
@pininfarinareventon Desafortunadamente, no podemos hacer con él. Sin embargo, todo lo que tiene que hacer es utilizar el traductor de google al igual que lo estoy usando con usted ahora.
@KINGDINGALICIOUS The Pioneer Champion is going to be a better quality subwoofer overall. If your looking to power 2 of them, we would go with the Hifonics Brutus BRZ2100.1D.
@SonicElectronixTV What is the best amplifier and best sealed enclosure for 2 Alpine Type E 12's? I have the older Type E's (Alpine SWE-1242). Please let me know ASAP. Thanks!
@DJDStackz The perfect amplifier would be the Alpine MRP-M500. If you are looking for the perfet sealed enclosure then it is always recommended to have one built to spec. However, our Absolute MDHF10 would be a suitable.
I have a 1 channel 250 RMS/500 peak power amp for my Alpine Type E 12's (also 250 RMS/500 peak power). What is the best way to wire my subs to my amp? Bridged or parallel? And is it recommended to match watts or should I get an amp with a little more power?
@latdum The amplifier shown in the video is a 1-Channel amplifier. For your Amplfier, you will have to input each subwoofer to its own channel. Usually, this will not be enough power. Additionally, you can bridge the two channels together to get more power output but you will not be able to achieve a 2ohm Impedance. It would be highly recommended to run a 1-Channel Amplifier.
Hi, I'm currently running a kicker 2500.1 powering 6 JL 8w1's wired to 4ohms. I'm switching the subs out for 6-REX 8" dual coil 4ohm subs. How do I wire them up? Thanku in advance.
@racerboy2323 It appears as though you may have picked out the wrong impedance for your subs. Your Kicker amplifier is 2ohm stable, but wiring 6 DVC 4ohm subwoofers in Series/Parallel will result in a final impedance of 1.3ohms which could potentially overload the amp. We do not recommend wiring those 6 subwoofers up to the 2500.1. We advise that you find an amplifier that is 1ohm stable and can produce the required wattage, such as the Hifonics Brutus BRZ2400.1D.
Dear sonic, I am going to buy a pioneer 12'' 3002d4 + a hifonics hfi1000d amp for it and Now all i need is a good box for the sub and a great wiring kit which isn't too pricey to run them both. I am awaiting your qucikest reply. thanks a million guys !
@KingBre99 I would say go with the 1SL12-0.7 for the enclosure and the Kicker CK4 for the amplifier kit. The enclosure is a sealed enclosure for tighter and more responsive bass. If you want deeper bass then go with the Absolute PSEB12BK enclosure. This enclosure is ported and will allow for elongated lower frequencies for deeper bass.
i wanna install two kicker 15" subwoofer they are both 4ohm and 500 watts at 250 rsm each..... do i install them the same way as in the video? and what type of amp should i run? and do u think a cap in needed
@DTayBeatz Yep wire then exactly like on the vidoe. The perfect amp for two 15" subs with a final impedance of 2 ohms and a power rating of 500 watts RMS go with the Kicker ZX500.1, the amplifier was specifically designed to strive in these situations and it is pretty affordable. Let us know how it turns out.
Looking into getting a ONE 12" sub with a mono class-D amp... for sound quality which would be better for me 2 ohm for 4 ohm? Do I want DVC or single? Enclosed box or ported? I have a 2000 Toyota Solara
@TheOxyMorin For quality go with a woofer that will give you a final impedance of 4 ohms, so either a SVC 4 ohm sub or DVC 2 ohm sub. Then go with a sealed enclosure for tighter and more responsive bass. Here is what I would do. For the sub, JL Audio 12W3v3-4, for the amp Kicker ZX500.1, for the enclosure 12SQTC and for the wiring kit the Kicker CK4. This would be a very very nice system.
@TheTechGuider We actually have a typo, you cannot wire two Dual 4 ohm subwoofers to a final impedance of 2 ohms. You can either wire them two a final impedance of 1 ohm or 4 ohms. What the video was trying to say was how to wire two SINGLE 4 OHM woofers to an impedance of 2 ohms. So for the purposes of the video it should be two subwoofers with a single voice coil each at 4 ohms each voice coil. Sorry for the confusion.
@SonicElectronixTV Thanks for clarifying. i have a question if you would answer. im buying a soundstream rubicon mono amp the 2500 watt version its stable at 1ohm for 2500 watts 5000 peak. now if i buy two 2ohm 15's and run them parallel to get 1ohm an hook them up to the amp will both speakers get 2500watts?
@TheTechGuider If you have two Single Voice Coil subs with each voice coil at 2 ohms then yes you can wire them together to a final impedance of 1 ohm. Unfortunately each subwoofer will not get 2500 watts, they will each get 1250 watts. Keep in mind that running a system like this will require an upgrade in battery power and possibly your alternator.
Question regarding the wiring, How important is the size of the wiring in the box and to the amp from the box. I know they make some subs with connections for 8 gauge. So, I assume it matters, even though I've heard the wiring for the subs isn't as important as long as it's copper. Is that true? or does it actually matter what the size is.
@9grande Its almost irrelevant to be honest. The different impedance gives you different wiring options. Also if you already have an amplifier the power rating at the appropriate impedance can dictate which subwoofer you will have to select. It is always better to run your sub or subwoofer to a final impedance of 4 ohms. If you have only sub then you would go with either SVC 4 ohm sub or DVC 2 ohm sub to get that final impedance of 4 ohms.
@Boobie16 If you have two Single Voice Coil 4 ohm subs then yes, just wire then together in parallel to a final impedance of 4 ohms. If you have two Dual Voice Coil 4 ohm subs then you can wire each one individually to 2 ohms but not together, if you have two Dual Voice Coil 4 ohms subs you wont be able to wire them to 2 ohms on your amp, you can wire them to 4 ohms or 1 ohm.
@asinhawkeye0065 If you have 2 12" Single 4 ohm subs I would suggest going with the Kicker ZX400.1 at a final impedance of 2 ohms. If you have 2 12" Single 8 ohm subs I would suggest going with the Kicker DX300.2 to a final impedance of 4 ohms at the bridged impedance. These would be the best two amplifiers to use with out having to spend more than 200 dollars.
@asinhawkeye0065 Yeah that amplifier would also work. Alpine makes great products that are dependable and have high quality performance. So either that Alpine amp or the Kicker amp will work, which ever you prefer.
@S1R369 If you want to wire two dual 4 ohm subs to a final impedance of 2 ohms unfortunately you won't be able to do it. You can either wire them to a final impedance of 4 ohms or 1 ohm. Your other option would be to wire them separately to their own individual channel in parallel to a final impedance of 2 ohms each. If you do this you have to make sure the amplifier is providing enough power at each channel to each woofer.
i couldn't find what i was looking for inthe wiring page. my Type-X's are Dual 4ohm. my amplifier is also a mono amp but it has 4 terminals combined..(like a 2 channel amp). i want to run both subs at 4 ohms because the power that the amp gives at 2 ohms might blow the subs! in the diagram i found running two of those kinda subs at 4 ohms and the amp was bridged. so my question is: should i bridge the amp like that and use only two of the terminals or all 4 of them without bridging the amp?
@xxxkhafanxxx If you amplifier is not bridgeable at 4 ohms you will not be able to do what you are asking for. Furthermore even if it is bridgeable I highly doubt it will be enough power to run the subs properly. Two Type-Xs would be 2000W RMS. I dont know of any amp that can do 2000W RMS at a bridged channel. You cant wire a single dual 4 ohm sub to 4 ohms it just not possible. You can wire two of them to 4 ohms but not just one.
@xxxkhafanxxx If you can have a final impedance of 4 ohms go with that. The amp will play better and cleaner at a final impedance of 4 ohms. The Colossus amp is pretty powerful, wit that amp you can essentially wire each woofer individually to a final impedance of 2 ohms and run them off each channel. All I can say is man you are going to be setting off some car alarms. Remember to get 1/0 gauge power and ground wire.
Thanks man haha!! if i run 2x 4ohms to the amp, will the amp read 8ohms in total?
According to your wiring page, is it something like this? " 2 DVC 2-ohm sub ". ( assuming that i have dual 2ohm voice coil sub). and is the 1/0 Gauge wire different from the 0 Gauge?
@xxxkhafanxxx If you have two Single 4 ohm subs then yes they can wire to 8 ohms. two DVC 2 ohm subs will wire to either 2 ohms together or to 4 ohms or 1 ohm individually. Yes 0 gauge is the same as 1/0, just make sure you get true to gauge wiring. Wiring is important so don't be afraid to spend a little.
Thanks for the video . but, i currently have two type x's which have two coils ( 4 outs ) ( 2+ and 2- ) . i want to wire the two of them to my mono amplifier which has (2+ and 2-). i want to wire both of the subs at 4 ohms NOT 2 because the amp is too powerful at 2 ohms. how do i wire the 2 subs that have 4 outs each at 4ohms to the amp?
@xxxkhafanxxx We will need to know which impedance your voice coils are in order to set you up with a proper wiring diagram. Your Alpine Type-X's are either Dual 4ohm, or Dual 2ohm. Check out our wiring diagrams for more information: knowledge.sonicelectronix[DOT]com/tools/subwoofer-wiring/
I got 2 seperate SVC subs (2 seperate sub box's) and a 2 channel amp. Can i just connect both wires from the 2 subs straight to the amplifier on 1 channel? Instead of connecting 2 subs together and then to the amplifier..
Can you please reply or somebody help me? i will subscribe to you :P
@XxKYFERxX Some amplifiers will allow you to connect each sub to each channel and will internally do the bridging for you. However is your amplifier only has one positive and negative connection you are going to want to wire the woofers together first and then having just one positive and one negative lead going to the amplifier. Each enclosure should have terminals you can just connect the terminals together like you would the voice coils.
@SonicElectronixTV My amp has 2 positives and 2 negatives ( 2 channel ). But i want to connect 2 subs to 1 channel, so i can bring the ohm load down to 2 ohms. Can i connect 2 subs straight to 1 channel (2 leads connected to 1 channel) or do i have to connect both subs together first and then connect to the amp. My amp can handle 2 ohm stable so it is safe
@XxKYFERxX I would suggest wiring the subs together and having just one positive and one negative lead. Your amplifier should show you where the leads go for a bridged impedance. You will notice that the amp only has one positive and one negative lead going to bridged configuration. Its never safe to have two positive and two negative leads going into one terminal.
@gigasearchman If the amp has two positive and two negative terminals then it must be bridgeable, either to 4 ohms or to 1 ohm. You can only bring 4 ohm subs down to 2 ohm if they are single 4 ohm subs. This is assuming you are wiring them together. You can technically bring down dual 4 ohm subs to 2 ohms each but then you will have to run them at 2 ohms each and not 2 ohms together.
@SonicElectronixTV Yeah, It's a Kenwood Class D mono. It says it pushes 500 rms at 4 ohms and 900 watts rms at 2ohms. So I wasn't sure if i had to wire my subs for 2 ohms and only use 2 terminals on the amp or just use all 4 terminals. Resulting in 4 ohms? I assume.
@gigasearchman If you have the manual it should tell you which terminals to use for what impedance. You wire each sub individually in parallel and then each sub to its own positive and negative terminal. This will give you the final impedance you need. So if you have Dual 4 ohm subs, each sub will have a final impedance of 2 ohms, if wired individually to the amplifier. I don't like doing it this way, I prefer wiring the subs together and then to just one negative and one positive terminal.

@gigasearchman If you wired them exactly like the video (parallel) then you should be fine. Consult your amplifier manual to make sure you are using the correct terminals, if you have more than one.
can you help me out somebody, i have a 2 channel amp thats 2 ohm stable and a 4 ohm jbl 12, can i wire these 2 together orrrr no ? and can u plz explain why
@adamolivas If the sub is a Dual 4 ohm sub, then yes you can by wiring the subwoofer in parallel. However it is a Single 4 ohm sub then no you cannot. If you have a Single 4 ohm sub you will only be able to wire the subwoofer to 4 ohms or 4 ohms bridged. Most 2-channel amplifiers have the ability to bridge the 2-channels into 1 channel for a final impedance of 4 ohms and a slightly higher power rating.
@xGODLYxSKiLLeDx666x If you are talking about final impedance then 4 ohms is better because it allows the amplifier to run more efficiently and with less heat being produced. If the amplifier runs more efficiently the woofers will also run more efficiently because they will be receiving a constant stream of cleaner power. If you are referring to the voice coils of one subwoofer, there is not much difference. It will just provide more wiring options.
@05Narco If you have a PRIME R1000-1D amplifier and two P2 subwoofers then go with the Dual 2 ohm subwoofers and wire them in series/parallel to a final impedance of 2 ohms. This will give you 1000W at 2 ohm while the subs will only require 800W at 2 ohms thus giving them sufficient power. If you have just one sub I hope its the Dual 2 ohm version, so you can run it to a final impedance of 4 ohms. If you have the Dual 4 ohm version you won't be able to use this amplifier.

I have two 12 inch kicker CVR's, Hooked up two a 1000 watt hifonics amp, Do you think I should buy another 1000 watt amp and just hook each sub up to each amp? Thanks.
@xSugarDaddy420 No that's not really necessary. What you can do is get a Hifnonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D and run them both off this one amp. If you have two Dual 2 ohm subs run them at 2 ohms final impedance, if you have two Dual 4 ohm subs run them at 1 ohm final impedance. Also you can go with the Kenwood KAC-9105D.
ok i have 2 12" subs that are SVC 4ohm independance, i have a 2 channel Audiobahn amp. stats are 125 watts rms x2 at 4 ohm, or 250 watts rms x 2 at 2ohm, and 500 watts rms x 1 at 4 ohms, any way i can wire my 2 subs to it so they both get 250 RMS?
@tman1122334455 Unfortunately not, your subs can either wire together down to 2 ohms or 8 ohms, or they can wire separately to 4 ohms each. So you will have to wire them individually to 4 ohms to their own channel on the 2-channel amplifier. This means all you will be able to give them is 125W RMS and since Audiobahn has overrated power ratings you will be giving the Kicker subwoofers less than 125W RMS. We would suggest a stronger amplifier only because you have quality subwoofers.
@tman1122334455 sonicelectronics is wrong you can wire em together at 4ohms and use the bridged terminals to get 500W rms. and because the subs are wired together it will spilt in to 250W rms =)
@RaMpAgExMoDz Actually this is incorrect. If he has two Single Voice Coil subwoofers and is trying to run them off the bridged impedance he will be unable to do so. Two SVC 4 ohms will either wire together to 2 ohms in parallel or 8 ohm in series. Thus the bridged impedance won't work. If he wires them together and runs them at the bridged impedance it will cause problems for the subs and possible the amplifier.
I have 2 hertz single voice coil subs. The subs are rated at 4 ohms each. I want to wire them at 2 ohms. Am i supposed to wire them like you showed in the video? Positive of one to positive of the other and same with the negatives. Then out to my amp?
@DelMonteMan243 Yeah, wire them exactly as Brendan is doing in the video. This is called parallel wiring, and it will give you a final impedance of 2 ohms.
i have 2 single 4ohm subs running to a profile california 600msx.. the ratings are 300Wrms at 4 ohms and 410Wrms at 2 ohms.. do i HAVE to run the wire from one speaker to the other for the 2ohm load??
@Spookz107MLBM You have wire the subwoofers in parallel. Using speaker wire, you will go from one + to the other + of the second sub. Then from - to the other - on the second sub. Once you have done this select one sub and run the + and - to the terminals of your box and then from your box to your amplifier. We have wiring diagrams on our website that will help out a lot, please feel free to check it out. Select the Kicker C124 and view the wiring guide tab for a visual on how to wire two subs.
@Spookz107MLBM Professionally we can't recommend wiring these two subs together, by doing so you will be under powering the subs and potentially causing serious damage to your subs. However by wiring the DVC sub in series to 4 ohms and then wiring the DVC and the SVC subs back down to 2 ohms, would be the best way to wire them together. Once again we do not recommend this, your amplifier is not strong enough and your subs will not perform at their optimum capabilities.
Is it okay to run a 4 ohm sub on a 2 ohm amp? I have ran 4 ohm subs on an 8 ohm amp before without problems and you would think that would be more stressful on the amp than more resistance so...
@TheBrownwetback I am assuming the 4600W is the Peak Power. Regardless with 2 DVC 4 ohm subwoofers you will have a final impedance of 1 ohm, when wiring in parallel/parallel. So you will need a 1 ohm stable amplifier that push 9200 watts of peak power. I strongly recommend figuring out the RMS power rating, this will give you a better idea of how much real power you are getting and also make it easier to select an amplifier.
i have 2 single voice coil subwoofers that are 4 ohms.how do i wire them to be 2 ohms eatch even though they are single voice coils.thanks alot i really need help
i have 2 single voice coil subwoofers that are 4 ohms.how do i wire them to be 2 ohms eatch even though they are single voice coils.thanks alot i really need help
@little11Nicky If you have two Single 2 Ohm subwoofers then your only wiring options are a final impedance of 1 ohm, or 4 ohms. If the subwoofers have Dual voice coils then you can wire them to a final impedance of 2 Ohms. Check out our subwoofer wiring diagrams for more info on wiring options with subwoofers.
I have two 4 ohm subs i want to hook up to 2 ohms and i know to hook it up in parallel, but i have to separate boxes because only way to fit. How do I hook them up in parallel?
@vcwarrior3 Connect the speaker wire from the subwoofer to the terminal. On the outside of the box you can wire the subwoofers in parallel. It's not the cleanest way to install, but it will connect the subwoofers for a final impedance of 2 ohms.
@sarfrazrathore91 The diagram in the video shows how it is connected to the amplifier, and our main video of the entire install may show us connecting the amplifier.
Ive got 2 subs running 400 watts rms each, and my amp is 1200 watts rms @2 ohms, my subs are wired in 4 ohm, can i wire my amp to this 2 ohm set up? I dont want to blow my subs! right now i am running my subs into my amp at 1 ohm bridged.
@sarfrazrathore91 It sounds like your subwoofers have Dual voice coils. This video shows an example for single 4 ohm subwoofers connected at a final impedance of 2 ohms. For two Dual 4 Ohm subwoofers your only plausible wiring options would be to run the subwoofers at 1 or 4 Ohms.
when you install two subs to one channel does it evenly desperce the watts like from a 100 watt channel to 500 watts each sub or would you get like the full 1000 watts to each sub
@fingerandskateboard Yes exactly, if you install for example 2 subs to a Kicker ZX1000.1 you will be giving each subwoofer 500 watts RMS at 2 ohms. This is a great question because many people assume the opposite which can and will cause problems after installation. It is important to remember that the rated power will always be evenly dispersed to the number of subs you are connecting to the amp. Another important thing to remember is that some amp will give a peak power and not an RMS power.
@MrSupermac1 im not an expert but I don't see y it will hurt them. unless you hook it up wrong. but that goes with any amp, head unit, speaker, sub. I almost fried my old pioneer head unit trying to hook it up in my moms car. the dam main power and ground wouldn't work right and the unit started smoking. but some how it still works.
@MrSupermac1 Well since your subwoofers each require 400 watts, and you're connecting them to a 400 watt amplifier you may be significantly underpowering them. Is the wattage that you are reading the RMS power output, or the peak power output? Try to check to see what the RMS ratings of each sub is, and add them together to see how much power you need to properly drive them. It all depends on the impedance (ohms) and power ratings to see if they will matchup.
@TheDaltonboii It's possible - but you are putting yourself at some very high risk! You need an in-line fuse because if there is a surge or any other electrical complications your vehicle could be set on fire. The wire gets hot when it's overloaded and when the fuse would usually pop to protect this from happening the wire will heat until it's on fire without the aid of a fuse. It's definitely necessary to run the fuse in-line.
@TheDaltonboii DO NOT use a fuseless wire from battery to amp!! it will catch on fire and damage a lot of stuff including your amp! just go out to walmarts if you are short on cash and pick a amp wire kit that includes the fuse in the wire. i spent $15 and it comes with a lot of stuff you may need. and whats a box of fusses to replacing your amp?
@TheDaltonboii check the site, more is sold on there than in stores now. any kit with a main battery wire and ground, plus your remote wire will do. they all hook up the same. its just some kits come with a capacitor <--- I don't see a 400W using this. back in the day they never included them to begin with. but with no cash you cant really do anything cause the fuse box will be about $5 maybe, not sure. got solder? that's another way but if the fuss blows you will have to solder another 1 on.
@Reidwr3 Ohms Law is a complex theory that relates to resistance upon wattage. For car audio, you don't have to know Ohms Law to understand how it applies. Ohms in audio will basically effect your wiring options. Amplifiers are capable of pushing different amounts of power at different impedances (ohms). An amp that can push 500 watts at 2 ohms, may only push 300 watts of RMS power at 4 ohms, but this is more stable for your amp. Less resistance (ohms) means more wattage but less stability.
hey ive got a question for ya ive got a twin dual wire 8" sub how do I hook that up? your diagram only shows how to hook a twin single wire sub. and do you need me to upload a video showing what im talking about? lol
what does wiring them down to 2ohms do for the subs?does it make them hit harder or what?

how to connect 4 subs if they all have DUAL 4 Ohm Voice Coils
22DISA22 2 weeks ago
@22DISA22 You need to wire them in a paralell configuration for a final impedence of 2 ohms. This is done by daisy chaining all the postive terminals to the positive of the amp and daisy chaining the negative terminals to the negative of the amp. We hope this helps.

how would i wire 2 4ohm subs to a 2ohm load on a 4 channel amp?
TrueSouthernPride 3 weeks ago
@TrueSouthernPride This is ussually not possible. When you bridge an amplifier, you will always have an impedence of 4 ohms.

What fuse rating is it supposed be?
killa4nyah 1 month ago
now whats the advantage of running it 2 ohm vs just running them 4 ohm?
stormer1092 1 month ago
@stormer1092 Running them at 4 ohms will cause the amplifier to run at cooler temperatures. Keep in mind that the lower the ohm load, the hotter the amplifier is going to run.

i have a question i have 3 10" punch p2's they are 250 watts rms each 8 ohms each. i have them in parallel at 2.6 ohms. i have a 360 watt rockford fosgate amp, but i know this isn't sufficient power. my question is can a hifonics hfi 2000 watt amp pick them up or will this blow the speakers. let me know whenever you can. and if possible i'd appreciate recommendations as to which amp would be good for the p2's. they're single voice coil by the way. thanks
marchi3908 1 month ago

What would produce more bass 2 15 kicker comp or 3 10 kicker cvr by producing more bass I mean which are louder.
killa4nyah 1 month ago
@killa4nyah They will probably be pretty close considering that both of these set up will have the same amount of Cone surface area. The 3 10's will give you a more responsive bass but the 2 15's will give you a deeper bass. If you want deep bass go with the 2 15s and if you want tighter bass go with the 3 10s.

@killa4nyah The CVRs have more power handling then the comps. The Hfi2000 will be a suffcient amplfiier to run 3 of these.

@SonicElectronixTV What is the best amplifier and best sealed enclosure for 2 Alpine Type E 12's? I have the older Type E's (Alpine SWE-1242). Please let me know ASAP. Thanks!
DJDStackz 2 months ago
@DJDStackz The perfect amplifier would be the Alpine MRP-M500. If you are looking for the perfet sealed enclosure then it is always recommended to have one built to spec. However, our Absolute MDHF10 would be a suitable.

how many channels is that amp cuz i have a 2 channel amp and if its different for my amp can you tell me what i have to do. thanks
latdum 2 months ago

Thanku in advance.
racerboy2323 2 months ago
@racerboy2323 It appears as though you may have picked out the wrong impedance for your subs. Your Kicker amplifier is 2ohm stable, but wiring 6 DVC 4ohm subwoofers in Series/Parallel will result in a final impedance of 1.3ohms which could potentially overload the amp. We do not recommend wiring those 6 subwoofers up to the 2500.1. We advise that you find an amplifier that is 1ohm stable and can produce the required wattage, such as the Hifonics Brutus BRZ2400.1D.
SonicElectronixTV 2 months ago
Dear sonic, I am going to buy a pioneer 12'' 3002d4 + a hifonics hfi1000d amp for it and Now all i need is a good box for the sub and a great wiring kit which isn't too pricey to run them both. I am awaiting your qucikest reply. thanks a million guys !
KingBre99 3 months ago

DTayBeatz 3 months ago

TheOxyMorin 3 months ago
@TheOxyMorin For quality go with a woofer that will give you a final impedance of 4 ohms, so either a SVC 4 ohm sub or DVC 2 ohm sub. Then go with a sealed enclosure for tighter and more responsive bass. Here is what I would do. For the sub, JL Audio 12W3v3-4, for the amp Kicker ZX500.1, for the enclosure 12SQTC and for the wiring kit the Kicker CK4. This would be a very very nice system.

By dual 4ohm speakers at the end of the video do you mean dual voice coil or just dual as in 2 speakers?
TheTechGuider 3 months ago
@TheTechGuider We actually have a typo, you cannot wire two Dual 4 ohm subwoofers to a final impedance of 2 ohms. You can either wire them two a final impedance of 1 ohm or 4 ohms. What the video was trying to say was how to wire two SINGLE 4 OHM woofers to an impedance of 2 ohms. So for the purposes of the video it should be two subwoofers with a single voice coil each at 4 ohms each voice coil. Sorry for the confusion.
SonicElectronixTV 3 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV Thanks for clarifying. i have a question if you would answer. im buying a soundstream rubicon mono amp the 2500 watt version its stable at 1ohm for 2500 watts 5000 peak. now if i buy two 2ohm 15's and run them parallel to get 1ohm an hook them up to the amp will both speakers get 2500watts?
TheTechGuider 3 months ago
@TheTechGuider If you have two Single Voice Coil subs with each voice coil at 2 ohms then yes you can wire them together to a final impedance of 1 ohm. Unfortunately each subwoofer will not get 2500 watts, they will each get 1250 watts. Keep in mind that running a system like this will require an upgrade in battery power and possibly your alternator.
SonicElectronixTV 3 months ago
Wait wait wait. wouldnt doing that add the total to 8 ohms but drop to a total of 4 ohms for both dpeakers since your lowering the impedence?
TheTechGuider 3 months ago
Whats a 2ohm impedance mean? someone help!!!
TheTechGuider 3 months ago
Question regarding the wiring, How important is the size of the wiring in the box and to the amp from the box. I know they make some subs with connections for 8 gauge. So, I assume it matters, even though I've heard the wiring for the subs isn't as important as long as it's copper. Is that true? or does it actually matter what the size is.
gigasearchman 3 months ago
@gigasearchman Yes the thicker the better. more current can flow through thicker wire and it can do it faster.

i have a question... whats better a 2ohm or 4 ohm sub
9grande 4 months ago
@9grande Its almost irrelevant to be honest. The different impedance gives you different wiring options. Also if you already have an amplifier the power rating at the appropriate impedance can dictate which subwoofer you will have to select. It is always better to run your sub or subwoofer to a final impedance of 4 ohms. If you have only sub then you would go with either SVC 4 ohm sub or DVC 2 ohm sub to get that final impedance of 4 ohms.
SonicElectronixTV 4 months ago
Can you wire to four ohm subs to 2ohm my amp is a mono dls amp
Boobie16 4 months ago
@Boobie16 If you have two Single Voice Coil 4 ohm subs then yes, just wire then together in parallel to a final impedance of 4 ohms. If you have two Dual Voice Coil 4 ohm subs then you can wire each one individually to 2 ohms but not together, if you have two Dual Voice Coil 4 ohms subs you wont be able to wire them to 2 ohms on your amp, you can wire them to 4 ohms or 1 ohm.
SonicElectronixTV 4 months ago
for the 2 comp12's what type of amp would you recommend if you can give a few amps and their price ranges thanks
asinhawkeye0065 4 months ago
@asinhawkeye0065 If you have 2 12" Single 4 ohm subs I would suggest going with the Kicker ZX400.1 at a final impedance of 2 ohms. If you have 2 12" Single 8 ohm subs I would suggest going with the Kicker DX300.2 to a final impedance of 4 ohms at the bridged impedance. These would be the best two amplifiers to use with out having to spend more than 200 dollars.
SonicElectronixTV 4 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV how about an Alpine MRP M500 Amplifier would you recommend it.
asinhawkeye0065 4 months ago
@asinhawkeye0065 Yeah that amplifier would also work. Alpine makes great products that are dependable and have high quality performance. So either that Alpine amp or the Kicker amp will work, which ever you prefer.

does the subwoofers have to be single 4ohms? cause my subwoofers are dual 4ohms?
S1R369 4 months ago
@S1R369 If you want to wire two dual 4 ohm subs to a final impedance of 2 ohms unfortunately you won't be able to do it. You can either wire them to a final impedance of 4 ohms or 1 ohm. Your other option would be to wire them separately to their own individual channel in parallel to a final impedance of 2 ohms each. If you do this you have to make sure the amplifier is providing enough power at each channel to each woofer.

TheCdacrew 4 months ago
i couldn't find what i was looking for inthe wiring page. my Type-X's are Dual 4ohm. my amplifier is also a mono amp but it has 4 terminals combined..(like a 2 channel amp). i want to run both subs at 4 ohms because the power that the amp gives at 2 ohms might blow the subs! in the diagram i found running two of those kinda subs at 4 ohms and the amp was bridged. so my question is: should i bridge the amp like that and use only two of the terminals or all 4 of them without bridging the amp?
xxxkhafanxxx 4 months ago
@xxxkhafanxxx If you amplifier is not bridgeable at 4 ohms you will not be able to do what you are asking for. Furthermore even if it is bridgeable I highly doubt it will be enough power to run the subs properly. Two Type-Xs would be 2000W RMS. I dont know of any amp that can do 2000W RMS at a bridged channel. You cant wire a single dual 4 ohm sub to 4 ohms it just not possible. You can wire two of them to 4 ohms but not just one.
SonicElectronixTV 4 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV
The amp that i know will give out 2x 1100W RMS is the Hifonics Clossus .... its quite powerful !
Do you think getting two dual 2 ohm subwoofers is better or getting two subs that are dual 4 ? Thanks man!
xxxkhafanxxx 4 months ago
@xxxkhafanxxx If you can have a final impedance of 4 ohms go with that. The amp will play better and cleaner at a final impedance of 4 ohms. The Colossus amp is pretty powerful, wit that amp you can essentially wire each woofer individually to a final impedance of 2 ohms and run them off each channel. All I can say is man you are going to be setting off some car alarms. Remember to get 1/0 gauge power and ground wire.
SonicElectronixTV 4 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV
Thanks Heaps!
xxxkhafanxxx 4 months ago
@xxxkhafanxxx If you have two Single 4 ohm subs then yes they can wire to 8 ohms. two DVC 2 ohm subs will wire to either 2 ohms together or to 4 ohms or 1 ohm individually. Yes 0 gauge is the same as 1/0, just make sure you get true to gauge wiring. Wiring is important so don't be afraid to spend a little.

Can you please reply or somebody help me? i will subscribe to you :P
XxKYFERxX 5 months ago
@XxKYFERxX Some amplifiers will allow you to connect each sub to each channel and will internally do the bridging for you. However is your amplifier only has one positive and negative connection you are going to want to wire the woofers together first and then having just one positive and one negative lead going to the amplifier. Each enclosure should have terminals you can just connect the terminals together like you would the voice coils.
SonicElectronixTV 5 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV My amp has 2 positives and 2 negatives ( 2 channel ). But i want to connect 2 subs to 1 channel, so i can bring the ohm load down to 2 ohms. Can i connect 2 subs straight to 1 channel (2 leads connected to 1 channel) or do i have to connect both subs together first and then connect to the amp. My amp can handle 2 ohm stable so it is safe
XxKYFERxX 5 months ago
@XxKYFERxX I would suggest wiring the subs together and having just one positive and one negative lead. Your amplifier should show you where the leads go for a bridged impedance. You will notice that the amp only has one positive and one negative lead going to bridged configuration. Its never safe to have two positive and two negative leads going into one terminal.
SonicElectronixTV 5 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV Alright i will connect the 2 subs together then. Thanks for your help, and i subscribed :P
XxKYFERxX 5 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV
What if the Amp says it's not bridgeable? How would you go about bringing the 4ohm subs to 2ohms. Even if there are 2 positives and 2 negatives.
gigasearchman 4 months ago
@gigasearchman If the amp has two positive and two negative terminals then it must be bridgeable, either to 4 ohms or to 1 ohm. You can only bring 4 ohm subs down to 2 ohm if they are single 4 ohm subs. This is assuming you are wiring them together. You can technically bring down dual 4 ohm subs to 2 ohms each but then you will have to run them at 2 ohms each and not 2 ohms together.
SonicElectronixTV 4 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV Yeah, It's a Kenwood Class D mono. It says it pushes 500 rms at 4 ohms and 900 watts rms at 2ohms. So I wasn't sure if i had to wire my subs for 2 ohms and only use 2 terminals on the amp or just use all 4 terminals. Resulting in 4 ohms? I assume.
gigasearchman 4 months ago
@gigasearchman If you have the manual it should tell you which terminals to use for what impedance. You wire each sub individually in parallel and then each sub to its own positive and negative terminal. This will give you the final impedance you need. So if you have Dual 4 ohm subs, each sub will have a final impedance of 2 ohms, if wired individually to the amplifier. I don't like doing it this way, I prefer wiring the subs together and then to just one negative and one positive terminal.
SonicElectronixTV 4 months ago

adamolivas 5 months ago
@adamolivas If the sub is a Dual 4 ohm sub, then yes you can by wiring the subwoofer in parallel. However it is a Single 4 ohm sub then no you cannot. If you have a Single 4 ohm sub you will only be able to wire the subwoofer to 4 ohms or 4 ohms bridged. Most 2-channel amplifiers have the ability to bridge the 2-channels into 1 channel for a final impedance of 4 ohms and a slightly higher power rating.

@SonicElectronixTV which is better 2ohms or 4ohms in your opion?????
xGODLYxSKiLLeDx666x 5 months ago
@xGODLYxSKiLLeDx666x If you are talking about final impedance then 4 ohms is better because it allows the amplifier to run more efficiently and with less heat being produced. If the amplifier runs more efficiently the woofers will also run more efficiently because they will be receiving a constant stream of cleaner power. If you are referring to the voice coils of one subwoofer, there is not much difference. It will just provide more wiring options.
SonicElectronixTV 5 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV the way i see it if u have a good amp it doesnt matter about that

What is the difference between 2 and 4 ohms ??? Wich one is better for my punch p2 sub with a prime 1000wats amp rockford fosgate
05Narco 5 months ago
@05Narco If you have a PRIME R1000-1D amplifier and two P2 subwoofers then go with the Dual 2 ohm subwoofers and wire them in series/parallel to a final impedance of 2 ohms. This will give you 1000W at 2 ohm while the subs will only require 800W at 2 ohms thus giving them sufficient power. If you have just one sub I hope its the Dual 2 ohm version, so you can run it to a final impedance of 4 ohms. If you have the Dual 4 ohm version you won't be able to use this amplifier.

Also you can go with the Kenwood KAC-9105D.

ok i have 2 12" subs that are SVC 4ohm independance, i have a 2 channel Audiobahn amp. stats are 125 watts rms x2 at 4 ohm, or 250 watts rms x 2 at 2ohm, and 500 watts rms x 1 at 4 ohms, any way i can wire my 2 subs to it so they both get 250 RMS?
tman1122334455 6 months ago
@tman1122334455 Unfortunately not, your subs can either wire together down to 2 ohms or 8 ohms, or they can wire separately to 4 ohms each. So you will have to wire them individually to 4 ohms to their own channel on the 2-channel amplifier. This means all you will be able to give them is 125W RMS and since Audiobahn has overrated power ratings you will be giving the Kicker subwoofers less than 125W RMS. We would suggest a stronger amplifier only because you have quality subwoofers.
SonicElectronixTV 6 months ago
@tman1122334455 sonicelectronics is wrong you can wire em together at 4ohms and use the bridged terminals to get 500W rms. and because the subs are wired together it will spilt in to 250W rms =)
RaMpAgExMoDz 6 months ago
@RaMpAgExMoDz Actually this is incorrect. If he has two Single Voice Coil subwoofers and is trying to run them off the bridged impedance he will be unable to do so. Two SVC 4 ohms will either wire together to 2 ohms in parallel or 8 ohm in series. Thus the bridged impedance won't work. If he wires them together and runs them at the bridged impedance it will cause problems for the subs and possible the amplifier.

@SonicElectronixTV I have a 700watt 4ohm SVC, and a 1200watt 2ohm DVC on a 600watt mono amp. What would be the best way to wire these?
Spookz107MLBM 7 months ago
@Spookz107MLBM Professionally we can't recommend wiring these two subs together, by doing so you will be under powering the subs and potentially causing serious damage to your subs. However by wiring the DVC sub in series to 4 ohms and then wiring the DVC and the SVC subs back down to 2 ohms, would be the best way to wire them together. Once again we do not recommend this, your amplifier is not strong enough and your subs will not perform at their optimum capabilities.

will doing this make them louder then having them individually going from the sub to the amp?

Can u make a video on how to correa tune the gains on a hifonics amplifier ??? Please
Disasterchild91 8 months ago
that why I liked audiobahns single 4ohm, they came with duallocking post so you did not have to twist wires :)

Is it okay to run a 4 ohm sub on a 2 ohm amp? I have ran 4 ohm subs on an 8 ohm amp before without problems and you would think that would be more stressful on the amp than more resistance so...

i have 2 4 ohms dvc subs. that are 4600 w. what kind of amp will i need. please help
TheBrownwetback 8 months ago
@TheBrownwetback I am assuming the 4600W is the Peak Power. Regardless with 2 DVC 4 ohm subwoofers you will have a final impedance of 1 ohm, when wiring in parallel/parallel. So you will need a 1 ohm stable amplifier that push 9200 watts of peak power. I strongly recommend figuring out the RMS power rating, this will give you a better idea of how much real power you are getting and also make it easier to select an amplifier.

What if my subs are 2 ohms, then how to i wire it?
little11Nicky 10 months ago
@little11Nicky If you have two Single 2 Ohm subwoofers then your only wiring options are a final impedance of 1 ohm, or 4 ohms. If the subwoofers have Dual voice coils then you can wire them to a final impedance of 2 Ohms. Check out our subwoofer wiring diagrams for more info on wiring options with subwoofers.

Would u just get another wire that conects to the other set of terminals and would it be giving both sub the amont of power you want?

I have two 4 ohm subs i want to hook up to 2 ohms and i know to hook it up in parallel, but i have to separate boxes because only way to fit. How do I hook them up in parallel?
vcwarrior30 10 months ago
@vcwarrior3 Connect the speaker wire from the subwoofer to the terminal. On the outside of the box you can wire the subwoofers in parallel. It's not the cleanest way to install, but it will connect the subwoofers for a final impedance of 2 ohms.

Can you show me how this is wired on the amplifier? (monoblock amp)
sarfrazrathore91 10 months ago
@sarfrazrathore91 The diagram in the video shows how it is connected to the amplifier, and our main video of the entire install may show us connecting the amplifier.

Ive got 2 subs running 400 watts rms each, and my amp is 1200 watts rms @2 ohms, my subs are wired in 4 ohm, can i wire my amp to this 2 ohm set up? I dont want to blow my subs! right now i am running my subs into my amp at 1 ohm bridged.
sarfrazrathore91 10 months ago
@sarfrazrathore91 It sounds like your subwoofers have Dual voice coils. This video shows an example for single 4 ohm subwoofers connected at a final impedance of 2 ohms. For two Dual 4 Ohm subwoofers your only plausible wiring options would be to run the subwoofers at 1 or 4 Ohms.

when you install two subs to one channel does it evenly desperce the watts like from a 100 watt channel to 500 watts each sub or would you get like the full 1000 watts to each sub
fingerandskateboard 10 months ago
@fingerandskateboard Yes exactly, if you install for example 2 subs to a Kicker ZX1000.1 you will be giving each subwoofer 500 watts RMS at 2 ohms. This is a great question because many people assume the opposite which can and will cause problems after installation. It is important to remember that the rated power will always be evenly dispersed to the number of subs you are connecting to the amp. Another important thing to remember is that some amp will give a peak power and not an RMS power.

i have two 400 watt subs and a 400 wat amp can i hook that up like this? or will something bad happen??
MrSupermac1 10 months ago
@MrSupermac1 im not an expert but I don't see y it will hurt them. unless you hook it up wrong. but that goes with any amp, head unit, speaker, sub. I almost fried my old pioneer head unit trying to hook it up in my moms car. the dam main power and ground wouldn't work right and the unit started smoking. but some how it still works.
clamo636 10 months ago
@MrSupermac1 Well since your subwoofers each require 400 watts, and you're connecting them to a 400 watt amplifier you may be significantly underpowering them. Is the wattage that you are reading the RMS power output, or the peak power output? Try to check to see what the RMS ratings of each sub is, and add them together to see how much power you need to properly drive them. It all depends on the impedance (ohms) and power ratings to see if they will matchup.

is it possible to run a wire from the battery to the amp without an inline fuse?
TheDaltonboii 11 months ago
@TheDaltonboii It's possible - but you are putting yourself at some very high risk! You need an in-line fuse because if there is a surge or any other electrical complications your vehicle could be set on fire. The wire gets hot when it's overloaded and when the fuse would usually pop to protect this from happening the wire will heat until it's on fire without the aid of a fuse. It's definitely necessary to run the fuse in-line.
SonicElectronixTV 11 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV good to know. thanks
TheDaltonboii 11 months ago
@TheDaltonboii DO NOT use a fuseless wire from battery to amp!! it will catch on fire and damage a lot of stuff including your amp! just go out to walmarts if you are short on cash and pick a amp wire kit that includes the fuse in the wire. i spent $15 and it comes with a lot of stuff you may need. and whats a box of fusses to replacing your amp?
clamo636 11 months ago
@clamo636 well the thing about that is i dont have any money and i already looked at walmart for the kit. they dont have one for a 400 watt amp
TheDaltonboii 10 months ago
@TheDaltonboii check the site, more is sold on there than in stores now. any kit with a main battery wire and ground, plus your remote wire will do. they all hook up the same. its just some kits come with a capacitor <--- I don't see a 400W using this. back in the day they never included them to begin with. but with no cash you cant really do anything cause the fuse box will be about $5 maybe, not sure. got solder? that's another way but if the fuss blows you will have to solder another 1 on.
clamo636 10 months ago
@clamo636 well i dont have a solder right now but im sure i can get one and a fuse block.

Can anybody give me a definition of ohms? What are the benefits of having 1 ohm, 2 ohm, 4 ohm. I don't really understand.
Reidwr3 11 months ago
@Reidwr3 Ohms Law is a complex theory that relates to resistance upon wattage. For car audio, you don't have to know Ohms Law to understand how it applies. Ohms in audio will basically effect your wiring options. Amplifiers are capable of pushing different amounts of power at different impedances (ohms). An amp that can push 500 watts at 2 ohms, may only push 300 watts of RMS power at 4 ohms, but this is more stable for your amp. Less resistance (ohms) means more wattage but less stability.

hey ive got a question for ya ive got a twin dual wire 8" sub how do I hook that up? your diagram only shows how to hook a twin single wire sub. and do you need me to upload a video showing what im talking about? lol
