Where did the other singer end up? Didn't know that there was another person in this group. Good news is that I can now start working on my Heatmiser collection now that I finished my Elliot Smith collection.
@StarvingSound technically there were 3 singers because of sam coombs who later went on to form quasi with the drummer of sleaterr kinney. he sings however not for heatmiser.
its amazing how many awesome bands sprang up in portland around this time, the best of many was without a doubt hazel with heatmiser and crackerbash in a close tie for second. Seattle had grunge but portland had in my opinion a much more intelligent and diverse scene.
@hisquiskw666 I was about to say those zits make this video all the more amazing, Who doesnt like their bands with flaws.... None of that disney pretty boy Jonas crap! lalala "Insert intelligent thought here"

Just finding out that Tony Lash played drums in this group? I'm a big fan of Eric Matthews, in which Tony played drums for as well as Cardinal- Eric's band before solo career. Eric is also from the Oregon area but spent some time in the NE as well.
Wow. So much arguing about how to classify Heatmiser's music. As I recall - and yes I was there watching every show I could make it to,- (and yes -I'm old) we referred to the music scene which they were apart of here in Portland ( along with Pond, Sprinkler, Hazel etc.) as : "Grunge". I never heard the term "emo" until I saw it on ebay to describe a style of clothing about 5 years ago. Out of all the bands that were happening at the time , Heatmiser ruled.
Heatmiser did not come from Portland. They originated at Hampshire College in Amherst MA. Elliot, Neil, Peyton Pinkerton and .... I forget the drummer's name. Saw them many times. Probably opening for Dinosaur etc. My girlfriend and two of my best friends lived with them. Nice folks. They didn't really have anything at all to do with the DC emocore scene. Both are influences on later Emo bands.
@DwyerEP Dude, haven't you an idea of what emo means? Emo is emotional. Emo is human. Without emotion and full expression, as well as fair harness, of it, and you have soulness music people like you complain about plenty of times here. Without emotion, you are simply a robot.
@yocheckthisride: Its arbitrary I know, but most people call those Revolution Summer bands "Emocore" as distinct from "Emo" which was more of a midwestern phenomenon influenced by the DC scene. Are you out of your mind? Heatmiser's music shits on Elliott Smith's emo acoustic crap. And don't get me started on Elliott's sloppy singing voice. Best song I've ever heard Elliott sing is "Don't Go Down", which is a great song but definitely does not compare to Heatmiser's top tracks.

If it's so "easily understood" then please, by all means tell me exactly what gust was thinking when he wrote it? Is it about a man or a woman? Because you should know he was gay, or is it about relationships at all? and to quote you:

So, when you throw that out there other people either agree, don't care, or disagree. I have no opinion
No, I wouldn't have. But, you didn't say that... Considering were just typing to each other and missing that other 90% of communication thats crucial (i.e. the body language and tone) then its pretty safe to say that we both misunderstood each other. The 'dumb cunt' thing is my kinda humor, albeit harsh, but if you were face to face with me you would get it (maybe not tho). And given I couldn't see your tone or body language when you said 'baaaaddd' I as well took it the wrong way. Cheers
