No it doesn't. People just don't want to sit through the lengthy "Game! This game's winner is..." cutscene when a winner is absolutely clear (ex: last stock + knee @ high percentage + Falco's recovery + non-suicidal Falcon = victorious Falcon). Players want to start a new match ASAP, and the quickest way to do so is L+R+A+Start.

Definitely true from the player's perspective. I'm strictly from the spectator portion of group for Melee. That probably leads me to feel this way.

I'm sure some spectator's feel the same as well.

Yes, it's correct. Some people rage quit.  Others that have great attitudes either don't quit or is actually trying to save time IF they are playing again.

sour.... interesting, it may not have been rage quitting, its faster just to quit when you know you're dead. Ex, if fox or falco is knocked too far away from the stage and illusion suicide... isn't necessarily rage, just trying to speed things up, so the same with quitting a match you know you lost.

he obviously didn't do it because it was faster. he didn't press start right away at the "no contest" screen. pretty sure it was rage quitting. and i'm not even saying he's unsportsman-like or anything like that. i'm just calling it as i see it

when you unplug your controller it presses start for you automatically, therefore lambchops' controller was unplugged and scar's wasnt
