A lot of people are confused about the label Post-grunge the Post in Post-grunge means two things, meaning it is derived from Grunge it'self rather than with Grunge which was influenced by other music to become Grunge by certain bands like the Melvins Mudhoney Screaming Trees Nirvana etc etc etc.Think of Post-punk in a sense and also obviously because it came out after grunge the term Post is used! Grunge and Post Grunge existed together in the mainstream during the early and mid 90's!
Am I the only one who is getting so freckin' tired of people placing Post Grunge and Grunge as something different from one another? They're the same damn thing! The only difference is that one has a better chance of making it on the radio over the other! That's why they had POST GRUNGE MORONS!!! It's Still Grunge! If this was the case, there wouldn't be rock anymore. That genre has changed many times over the years.
The history of post-grunge doesn't start in 1993, dude. The years of the grunge period aren't clearly defined, but some of these songs were definitely from the era.
Grunge never existed as a genre, subgenre or style. It was (and still exist) as a philosophy of life. No one heard about a band playing "hippie" right?, so what's exactly post-grunge??...Don't misunderstand me please...I love grunge and of course post-grunge, and actually there are a lot of bands that no one thinks that could be Post-Grunge, but I still believe that all them must be in any setlist of anyone who carry this wonderful label. Please excuse me for my English...I'm from Costa Rica
I thought you said POST GRUNGE....These are mostly alternative songs from the 90s....Grunge happened in the early 90s....but not every rock-ish song was grunge.
@clupton79 Depends on who you talk to, but technically grunge never existed. It was all early indie/alt rock/metal....except for complete rip-offs of the "original four grunge bands"....then I find that the label post-grunge works.
goo goo dolls r post grunge? not every alternative band fits under the post grunge category too. if anything then greenday. and you left out seether- probably the most obviously grunge influenced band 2day

Honestly, most of this is a list of bands/songs from the era I hated.
But it's also an era that brings back Junior High memories.
