And taxation of companies and workers are two different things.
Average salary is here about 3500e/month and it means a bit more than 30% taxes about it. 50% is more like high marigin tax.

And our taxes are not the highest ones, more like average in Europe. Yes, world best education is offered in Finland and it´s free, like health care. But public sector is efficient and not so big. And our companies are doing great job everywhere, without being subsidized. by the state. We hate corruption and communism here.

@PohjolaNorden and some time ago i see a article about amount of taxation in europe.The first was like denmark and finland was 4th or 5th.Portugal was very down---which is great.
Even this week,denmark pass a ridiculous bureaucratic 'fat tax'.
Heres a 'hint', 'social engineering' never works. Due the time, over time, eventually,'it' fails.

It depends a bit, what is your source, but te taxation rate/GDP is in Denmark approximate 49% as you said, Sweden 46%, France 46%, Norway 43%, Finland 43%, Italy 43%, Germany 40%, Portugal 37%, USA 27%. So yes there is a difference between USA and Europe. And Inside Europe there is nothing special in our taxes. It´s ín a bit higher than in south average. Source Heritage foundation

Portugal has,had,a marginal tax rate of 40.0.US has a marginal tax rate of 39.0.
And if it was not our almost always negative balance of payments, our tax rates would be if not the lowest one of the lowest of western world...its because we are a small country and we need import things we don't have or able to produce,we would be a example of such.It was a public debate here.
