  • she doesn't like writing. she got lucky with her dream twilight and then they put her under contract to make more money off of her. so she HAD to write. i hope she didn't hurt herself. hehe ;D

have you ever had a thought or a dream so amazing to you, that you just had to write it down so you can remember it? that's what happened with her. the rest (new moon, eclipse, bree tanner) are just fillers.

i'm glad a writer made it, i just wish her books were better executed and edited.

  • Seriously people ! Shes just saying to write for the joy of writing ! Geez ! When your a writer and you go without writing for a long time it IS frustrating ! I know cuz I write ! If you hate her WHY DID YOU CLICK ON THIS VIDEO !

  • Wow.... I thought she was a bad writer but she's also ungrateful. She gestures to the loving fans as if they were a burden. Honestly, I'm glad she doesn't have the time to write. I don't want anymore of her words tainting the literary world. Also, a little modesty would be good for you, Mrs. Meyer.

  • Worst parts of "The Wuthering Heights" + worst parts of "Interview With The Vampire" = Twilight

  • Know that I got THAT out . . . Gr8t advice ! Stephanie Meyer and my friend who happens to be named Stephanie are the ones who inspired me to start writing

  • @justlikeheathen , thosefabulousssocks , salamaleikum80 , jingledjango ,droctopusbjj , superheromania , haloandmetroid , and midnightmaiden17 two thoughts occur . . . One if you don't like her then why did you click on this video !?!? Two just because she followed her dreams and got successful doesn't mean you need to go around hatin ! Your entitled to your opinion but what your doing is basically bullying . Oh and newsflash the life of a celebrity is stressful . . . Geez ! She was just explain

  • As a writer, I actually find Stephenie highly motivational, because she got published knowing less than 15 adjectives and has no talent, which is great news to us all.

  • @justlikeheathen She's the Rebecca Black of the literary world.

  • I can't find time to write. I HAVE to go to parties and celebrations of MY book. My life is so hard.

J.k. Rowling wrote her first book on FREAKING NAPKINS. and is still more successful.

    Where's YOUR roller coaster? Bish.

  • i hate her face

  • "I'm so busy being successful, I can't find the time to write. My life is so hard. Waa."

  • I am planning on becoming a successful writer one of these days. I watched this video to know what not to do. So thanks, Stephenie, you're a lifesaver!

  • One of the rules many professional author's give young writers is to find a bit of time each day. Some recommend fifteen others recommend an hour. Can Meyer really say that she is way too busy to find that much time to write a book? She could take an hour in the afternoon to write and allow herself to unwind after a long day. That is WHAT writing for enjoyment is about. When you enjoy something you FIND time to do it.

  • It's not just Twilight. Everything she has published is HORRIBLE. I made sure my opinion was fair by reading her segments of her adult novel as well, and it's just as bad. The woman CANNOT WRITE. I'm astonished these books ever got published.

  • The less she writes, the better off we all are.

  • If you all hate her so much then why are you even watching this? Are your lives really that pathetic? If you don't like her books, don't read them. For the love of god how can so many people be this moronic.

  • @huskypuppylove She's a good writer because her books got published? That makes no sense. Thousands of books are published every year, alot of them are bad. Just because something get's published, doesn't mean it's good.

  • I don't understand why people say she's not talented. Obviously her books are good enough to get published. If she sucked at writing so much, she wouldn't have gotten published. At least, that's how I see it.

  • @huskypuppylove ~ Her books actually aren't good enough to be published. Whoever decided to publish her either wasn't doing right or they are really bad at their job. Her books are filled with grammatical errors any good editor can catch. That is just probably shouldn't have been published at all. Oh... and the publishing company that picked has a bad rep. Hasn't had one since around 2006 when it changed hands and Kaavya Viswanathan was caught plagiarizing.

  • @boxcarmystery Oh I didn't know about the secret stuff with the publishing or anything. I'm just saying that's what I think.

  • If I was a writer who was busy I'd carry a notebook to write ideas that pinch my mind, not cry like a little baby about it

  • @SuperHeroMania Stephen King says you should never use a notebook because it's a good way to immortalize bad ideas.. xD

  • @TheAlxxHydeShow Love King, but have to disagree. It's not like I keep all my ideas I write down, I develop them into something or (if that doesn't work) nothing.

  • @SuperHeroMania I agree I was just joking. I saw your comment and that was the first thing I thought of. Though I don't use an actual notebook (most of the time). I rather keep it in my head or type it down into a document on my computer.

  • I don't have a very high opinion of Meyer's writing ability. That said, she inspires me as a writer, because I now know that if she is "good" enough to get published, then I'm sure I'm also good enough to get published someday, as long as I keep dreaming...

  • Thank you Steph, youre awesome... <3

  • @poopoounicorn ha. That's what she said.;D

  • well that was quick. ha

  • (con't from previous comment) Overall, I think Stephenie Meyer is a writer with the ability to entertain, but not to write well, or at least as far as I've seen.

However, regardless of what anyone feels about her writing skills, Stephenie Meyer is a woman who has gotten kids in a generation who all too frequently don't give a shit about books to read, and for that, she deserves credit and thanks.

  • @LightningLazer96 That's because she's not a writer but an author.

Basically, she got lucky with TWILIGHT-she has never written anything before that.

Actually Rowling got kids to read not Meyer. And basically what both of them did was lure kids into popular fiction.

Its fine but speaking as a professional writer, I dont take her advice seriously and neither should any wannabe writer-freelancer, novelist etc.

If you arent writing to make a buck, you are wasting your time.

  • @MultiSmartass1 I agree that she got lucky. She basically took the average teenage girl's ultimate love fantasy and threw it up onto some paper, and then mixed in some supernatural creatures and a plot involving danger to thrill young readers. If they wanted well-written vampire material, there are other places to get it. As for the pop. fiction thing, that's fine by me. I don't give whether kids are reading James Patterson instead of Nabokov. (Guess I'll continue in another post

  • @LightningLazer96 Yeah, that's about right as regards to Mayer. Most kids and adults read crap anyway.

  • @MultiSmartass1 As I was getting to, not all popular fiction is crap (Stephen King is a popular fiction writer, and in my opinion, some of the stuff he writes is brilliant). Even if they are reading the crappy stuff, maybe they'll use it as a stepping stone to better things.

Alas, I agree that nobody should be taking Stephenie Meyer's advice about writing.

  • @LightningLazer96 That doesnt really work for anything else and it doesnt work for books. People dont junk food as way to lead to health food. People eat what they want and they read what they want.

  • @LightningLazer96 - I don't think Twilight is helping that many people move to better stuff. Meyer has panned her romance as being better then a good deal of the classics and some of her fans actually believe her. I've also seen some of the fans ask "who is Stephen King", "who is he to talk" and "he's just jealous because he hasn't won any awards." This worries me.

  • @boxcarmystery On second thought, you may be right about that. The fact that the fans of hers are that ignorant is scary. Although I was just bringing up the possibility people could use her stuff as a stepping stone-for example, as a child I read R.L. Stine's Goosebump books. I believe that that probably has a lot to do with my current interest in horror fiction.

  • My opinion on the whole debate dominating the comments (being someone who reads all kinds of books regardless of literary merit): I read all four twilight books, and I was entertained for the most part. However, there were passages which were so sappy I wanted to put the book down. Eventually, halfway through Breaking Dawn, I remember sitting up and thinking "what the fuck am I reading?!". Regardless, the books are for the most part entertaining. (will continue in next comment)

  • Thanks for your reply, Somberlight.

  • I guess it's an advice for dummies

  • Good advice. Thanks, Stephenie Meyer. :)

  • Poor woman there are a lot of people who actually hate her writing XD I love King but I don't think she is THAT bad, her grammar is too basic yes, it's like a thirteen years old girl writing a book, but it was fun though. Is one of the books I couldn't stop reading and I'm not ashamed of that

  • I'm curious George. What specifically is so bad about her writing? I read comments regarding her diction, syntax, and grammar but give some clear examples please. Thanks.

  • @ikon560 it's the story itself that goes completely oogabooga derp. instead of proper story with actual structure, its written to the wet dream of ditzy teenage girl, and ruins a perfectly good WELL ESTABLISHED mythos while doing that. you don't do that. also, you could have a field day with the subtext's, starting from spousal abuse, woman being worthless alone and without kid, and neat little stuff like that. sure, its a ditzy love story too but theres quite a bit more.

  • @ikon560 im not willing to read/watch it again so i'm running by my memory, but i can give you several contexts you're able to see yourself they're all summarized by better people than me, i'll send you a link eventually.

  • here's some advice, don't write shitty love stories about gay sparkling vampires

  • Good...advice from Rick Riordan...I'll head over there; better advice.

  • I don't need her advice.

  • I read the Twilight books...not great, but I was indifferent to them. What turned me off to SM was something posted on her website once. It was something to the effect that she has written a novella which was "her version of a short story". That reeked of arrogance. Sorry, you did not invent the novella. It is merely a more complex, longer short story. I think people would try to take her more seriously if she weren't so self-important.

  • the awkward moment when one of the most hated writer of the world gave advice.

  • @WhiteshadoW0005 why is she hated?

  • @rkg11918

    Umm, because she wrote Twilight...

  • @nashertheatheist So? If twilight is a piece of shit why is it famous now?

  • @rkg11918

Hey, I'm saying nothing about the quality of the books; I've not read them. But that's the reason she's hated.

The films are awful by any reasonable standards, but they succeed because they fulfil various common fantasies across their target audience. The films are what people think of when they hear "Twilight" and so the author, without whom the films would never have been made, takes a lot of fire for writing the books even if most of her critics haven't read them.

  • @rkg11918 her books are terribly written and cliche filled trash that has brain washed a whole generation. The movies are even worse.

  • @WhiteshadoW0005 The AWKWARD (awkward and INTERESTING) moment when a "person" knows several things about twilight and he or she doesnt like it. O.O

  • I'm writing... for the joy of write, as my stephenie says </3

  • @all you people fighting about good and bad writers,

    I don't do politics. Here's a cookie! :D

  • I liked Twilight. I thought she did a good job writing the books, especially when you take into consideration the fact that she'd never been published before. If you don't like her books, then why are you on this video? Tons of people love her books, so let them enjoy the videos instead of ruining it for them with all of your hater comments. Okay? Thanks.

  • @famouskates2 "then why are you on this video?"

Little thing called freedom of speech - we can say what we like.

And you need to drop the attitude. "Okay? Thanks."

  • @FrazzleAndTheWolf There's no need to get rude. I wasn't using an attitude, I was just simply saying that people like to be rude and attack people over the internet because they can hide behind their computers without actually having to say it to the person's face. "Little thing called freedom of speech" sounds like you're the one with the attitude. And having freedom of speech doesn't mean you should be a jerk to everyone who has a different opinion than you.

  • why are there so many haters on this vid. if you don't like her why are you here. what you can't read. the title says Stephanie Meyer. don't click if you don't like her.

  • that is so true. write for the joy. i need to remember that.

  • Ah, so this where the I Invented Writing Therefore My Opinion On How Something Should Be Written In Order For It To Be Good Is Always Correct Police dwell.

  • Stephenie Meyer is a horrible author, I tried reading Twilight and I had to stop after the first chapter.

  • why do the fuck are all of you twilight haters even here? i get that people have opinions....but you can to a different video and make fun of how stupid twilight is...cause some people on her come here to talk about all the awesome things about twilight!!

  • @Kristhegirl39 lol what awesome things about twilight? please amuse me with some things you come up with.

  • @Kristhegirl39 I don't like Twilight, but I clicked on this video because I thought Ms. Meyer had some wisdom for aspiring writers like myself. "Write for the joy of writing." Well *yeah,* okay, I was already doing that. It doesn't help most people who consider themselves writers, because they're doing it *primarily* for their love of the craft, not for the desire to be famous. That's like saying the best advice for survival is breathing.

  • @Kristhegirl39 nah, it doesn't work like that. this vid is not titled "awesome things about twilight!!" it's "Stephenie Meyer's Advice For Writers!" and all the haters including me think she has none to give, so naturally we're all here. also, this is a public forum, and this video is not private or friends only. i have an opinion, and i get to express it. if you have an opinion to counter mine, you get to express it aswell and argue a case against mine if you wish. thats how things just are.

  • Stephanie Meyer is a TERRIBLE writer.

  • There's a good reason Stephan King makes fun of her "Writing Capabilities."

  • @hyoushie When poking at someone's writing capabilities, please at least spell "Stephen King" correctly.

  • @kalebnation Me misspelling a writer's name who for your information doesn't know how to write either. I've never seen so many run on sentences in a book. Both author's are terrible at what they do, especially when he enjoys putting the word "fuck" in his books at lest 100 times. So why don't you tell me why I should care about two terrible writers? I prefer Stephen King over Stephenie Meyer hands down. But Both of them are terrible. So forgive me for not caring about a terrible writers name.

  • @hyoushie

Stephen King doesn't know how to write?

I give you props for being a fellow hater of this Twilight shit, but come on. Stephen King can't write? One of the bonafide legends of writing?

    LOLWUT?

  • @TheCanadianPrairies Stephen King feels the need the use over excessive amounts of profanity in every one of his pieces. I give him great regards for being able to put himself in that characters shoes in order to envision his writing. But actual writing itself is terrible. Stories fantastic, writing is awful.

  • @hyoushie

You're saying his books lose merit because you don't agree with his characters' (alleged over)use of profanity? They are just words, and in the real world, get thrown around quite frequently by the way.

He makes his characters realistic, and some people do talk with quite some profanity. He doesn't use profanity gratuitously, but imbeds it in the voice of the character for specific reasons.

You're making a big hooplah out of, well, nothing.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies How many of his books have you read? Honestly. If you have you might realize that his characters curse more often than real words. I like reading a book for the story line not for a half understandable piece of junk. Ask any person with an english major.

  • @hyoushie

I've read many of his books.

His characters aren't always cursing. And even if they do, so what? It's called realism. I'd be more concerned about the plot and character development than mere vocabulary.

Ask any person with an English major? Literature critics aplenty have praised King. Fellow authors like Orson Scott Card have too. Roger Ebert as well. They've all got prestigious backgrounds.

You're blindly hating on King over something many authors use in their stories.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies No, I'm hating on him because instead of using actual literature and vocabulary he chooses to use profanity and vulgarity.

  • @hyoushie

God help you if you read books by many other authors out there.

Also, I love how you dislike profanity and yet you've uploaded a Korn song that has such lyrics like "Shut the fuck up, get up!"

So it's good to swear in music but not in literature? Really?

Korn has often used curse words in their music. Better stop listening to them.

You upload a song and the info says: "Put'cha titties in my face!"

    That's not vulgarity?

Stop being such a hypocrite and grow a pair.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies Since when does music have a story? Get off your high horse you fucking cunt.

  • @hyoushie

    avclub.com/articles/inventory-26-songs-that-are-just-as-good-as-short,1816/

"Get off your high horse you fucking cunt."

What happened to hating profanity and vulgarity? Oh, wait, you never did. You were just blindly bashing King while listening to music with its own share of both. You can't bash a novel writer for using vulgarity and profanity when you listen to songs by songwriters with their own share of both. HYPOCRITE.

Ride YOUR high horse into oblivion, please.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies If you fail to understand everything like you obviously are. Stephen King writes books, in which case people like to read and here's the kicker, some people like to envision them as a movie in your head. Have you ever watched any movie made by fearnet? Probably not. I severely dislike watching a movie "story" where there's a curse word every 12 seconds. You obviously don't know shit about this subject.

  • @hyoushie

I don't have fearnet, because I don't even have cable or satellite (TV is a waste of money to me), nor am I in America.

But here's what you FAIL to understand.

People like to envision the STORIES in SONGS within their heads. Why do you think when, say, some musician tells his audience to get the FUCK up, they do?

You severely dislike watching movies where there is curse words but you don't mind uploading music with them?

    FAILURE is you.

    Stop avoiding your hypocrisy.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies If you were in America you might be able to comprehend the American brain. When one listens to a song that is 3 minutes long we listen to the connection in a song to part of your life or an understanding of theirs. When we who understand music perceive this, we connect to it on a level of understanding and growth. Not everyone listens to music that's pure shit. I like listening to a song for it may help me, not tell me how bad their life was so they can bitch and moan.

  • @RadharcMarbh

The best opinion about american icons I have heard so far :D

    *sending hypothetical love to you*

  • @imonaboatization

Thank you! I try to keep things fresh and interesting.

  • @hyoushie

    Here's the kicker.

You told me you said music doesn't have stories. I've proven you wrong.

You said that you don't like Stephen King using profanity. Yet you don't mind songwriters who use profanity. Why is it a big deal that King uses it, but not when it's used in the songs you've uploaded and/or listen to?

People swear - that's life. That's just the way things are. In King's books, many times there are events that would make anyone just wonder what the fuck's going on.

  • @hyoushie

Oh, before you ride valiantly into oblivion like the glorious tool you are, here's some more luggage for your high horse to carry.

Kurt Cobain wrote "Polly" based on a real life STORY.

Eminem wrote "Stan" which tells the STORY of a hardcore fan.

Undying Love by Nas tells the STORY of him and his unfaithful girl.

2Pac's 16 on Death Row tells the STORY of a young man on death row.

I could easily go on. Look at Johnny Cash, the Beatles, Frank Sinatra, and many more.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies You explain how I could turn one of those songs into a 12hour movie then come back and talk you fucking moron. Learn to think before you talk.

  • @hyoushie

    You mad, bro?

If there's anyone who needs to think here, it's you.

You're making this "12 hour movie" hokum up just to function as some sort of shield.

    I will ask you again.

Why is it not right for Stephen King to use profanity yet artists like Korn can use profanity and vulgarity in their songs (especially Korn's earlier stuff) without you whining and moaning?

  • @TheCanadianPrairies Mainly because the songs I uploaded on my channel were for a friend. She liked those songs so i uploaded them as a friendly gesture. As for the 12 hour movie deal, no, anybody who's creative and any bit intelligent likes to envision a book. I like putting myself in the story, and in reality I don't appreciate every other word being "Fuck" or "Bitch" Most in particular since I have a niece and a nephew always around who like to learn words.

  • @hyoushie

So let me get this straight.

You can put yourself in the story (a "12 hour movie") of a book.

But you can't put yourself in the story told in a song?

    Really?

Stories have curse words. Whether in song or in book form. It's how life is. Realistic stories demand realistic characters. And realistically, people swear.

And if you're keeping your niece/nephew away from 'naughty' books, I suggest you look at homeschooling. Schools are a goldmine for curse words.

  • @hyoushie

Also, if you have such a hatred for profanity and vulgarity, you wouldn't upload anything to do with bands who've have had quite the amount of both.

You'd have preserved your all great moral integrity.

Swearing in books does not mean an author is terrible. Character development and plot are far more important.

And if it matters so much to you, I suggest going to your nearest Christian bookstore or something. There you go. Wholesome books and music.

    No swearing.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies The point of books is meant to not relate to your life. A lot of people view books as a way to put themselves in a fantasy world. Now if you feel like continuing with your narrow minded view of literature then please do it with yourself I'm done with you, I'm going to sleep.

  • @hyoushie

A lot of people view that they can relate to books, too. I have never said that all books must be based on one specific standard. I am not narrow minded. I merely recognize that books can teach AND entertain.

There is nothing wrong with making books that relate to real life. Charles Dickens, Lee Harper, Alice Sebold, and others have done just that. Not every book has to be about a fantasy world. What about non-fiction books? Autobiographies?

  • @hyoushie

Not every book has to be rooted in some fantasy world with nothing to do with real life. Books can inspire the reader to look at their own life differently, such as self-help books or religious books.

Books can not only be in a fantasy world but can relate to readers in real life (eg. People who talk about murdered family members after reading The Lovely Bones or children's books with life lessons.)

Books can entice the reader to want to change the world around them.

  • @hyoushie

    You're done with me?

Wait till you come back to reply to me after this.

Throughout the history of recorded literature, fictional writing has served not only to entertain but also to instruct, inform or improve their audiences or readership. There is nothing wrong with people relating to the events of a book, nor the author of the book wanting to write beyond mere entertainment.

There's easily plenty of authors who can prove this to you, you narrow minded mugu.

  • @hyoushie whoa! stephen king makes fun of Meyer's writing capabilities? She must REALLY suck at writing then . . .

  • My advice for writers: Don't be Stephenie Meyer.

  • Joy of writing...sure. U sure wrote for the joy that's why u sent the copy to the publisher lmao.

    Hypocrit much?

  • Thank the Lord she doesn't have the time to write more.... I don't think those ideas itching in her brain are any better than the shit that is Twilight.

  • Actually, this is KIND OF good advice, even if her writing is decent at best.

  • Receiving Advice...... Calculating...... MALFUNCTION! DOES NOT COMPUTE! DOES NOT COMPUTE! ADVICE IS INVALID! SHUTTING DOOOooooowwn.

  • She sort of reminds me of Lauren Graham.

  • what an ugly pig. I doubt she wrote any of it. Likely came from think tank authors.

  • write for the joy of writing by all means, but for fuck's sake keep it to yourself, Stephanie.

  • she has 400 millions and WTF is that on her neck????? plastic necklace?????

  • to all of you talking shit about her...if u cant do anything..SHUT UP and keep your opinions to yourselves...shes now famous and lets see where you are...nowhere..if u hate her because shes mormon than go eat shit...and fuck off her...

  • @AtlasUtai01 no, that's not how it works. if the opinion is public, it's completely open for review or in this case, for people laugh to. people hate her because she makes money for being a literary whore, bastardizing everything she touches. also, did you know that Twilight advices young girls that its ok if your man beats you, its ok if a middleaged guy drools after 16 yr old and without a guy, you're nothing and you should get married instead of grades. are you sure you want to support that?

  • @somberlight i read twilight a hundred times...and those all those ideas and accusations are not even enforced there...so whatever she writes..i fully support...

  • @AtlasUtai01 oh its all there, but if you'd rather close your eyes and take it as you see it, a teen-fantasy for girls and not as a serious literary piece, that i can understand and let you be.

  • @AtlasUtai01 - As somberlight has said, those things are there. Tons of articles are able to articulate the evidence and the ones that try to disprove them can't come up with the needed evidence. Like many other fans you don't want your perfect little bubble burst.

  • @AtlasUtai01 No one hates her because she's Mormon. They hate her 'cause 1) she has little grasp of diction, metaphors, grammar, or syntax, 2) her characters lack dimension/profound growth over 4 books, 3) it romanticizes psychologically abusive relationships (Edward's stalking, Bella stringing along Jacob, Sam clawing his wife--he feels bad, but what about wifey?) and pedophilia (Jacob's lolita soulmate, Renesmee), and 4) conflicts are overly dramatized, then glossed over with friendly chit-chat

  • @AtlasUtai01 - Please learn what censorship is. What you are advocating for is for the people who have negative opinions of what you don't like to have their opinions silenced. That is censorship. BECAUSE she is famous she is all the more open to receiving negative criticism. That is PART of being a published writer.

  • Mr. Moony presents his compliments to Stephenie Meyer, and begs her to keep her abnormally bad books out of other people’s bookshelves.

Mr. Prongs agrees with Mr. Moony and would like to add that Stephenie Meyer is an ugly git.

Mr. Padfoot would like to register his astonishment that an idiot like that ever became an author.

Mr. Wormtail bids Stephenie Meyer a good day, and advises her to read Harry Potter, the moron.

  • Huh? How can this woman say advice for writers, knowing she isn't a writer herself? Come on, DON'T TELL ME HER CRAPS ARE NOVELS! No, no. Just shit without any style.

  • When asked for advice to aspiring writers she can't help but talk about how hard it is being famous. It really says what Meyer's like here.

  • You mean, she's no longer writing because she's too busy? Everyone keep her busy, for god's sake!

  • The advice is actually pretty good, nevertheless I think she is a bad writer (I tried to read Twilight, and I don't need to read the whole thing to know that is bad). But even a broken clock is right twice a day, isn't it?

  • Really? Before these movies came out I'm sure most of you people trolling loved them. I know I did! And I still re-read them often. Who cares what Hollywood did to the books, just read them for what they are.

You people are stupid... Just saying

  • ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

  • SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE SURE SHE NEVER HAS TIME TO WRITE AGAIN!

  • All I know is during a lightning storm I'm standing right next to her, because she's the luckiest person on the planet!

  • Kouta hirano makes a better vampire story than you Stephanie Meyers

    HELLSING FTW

  • Regardless of what those may say about her work, style, and writing skills, she does provide great advice for writing. =)

  • I normally wouldn't post stuff like this on videos, but I'm getting a little desperate. I am involved in a creative writing contest, wherein contestants try to write a story, poem, sketch, song lyrics, etc. a week for 52 weeks.

It does cost $15, but the fee is primarily used for prize money for winning entries. If interested, please visit theproject52.wordpress for all information. (with three w's before and a dot-com after) Thank you

  • THANK GOD she doesn't have time to write all those story ideas....

  • and seems like she IS actually only doing it for the fame: being all like omg I'm so cool I don't have the time for doing anything.

She does really sound as clue and brainless as her own books.

Stephenie Meyer you can't write - stop publishing please

  • @Badjakaru She can write. What you mean is that she can't write well. And she doesn't have to stop publishing because she sells better than most authors out there. Publishing isn't about writing talent, it's a business and is all about your ability to sell.

I don't really like her but so many of you guys are actually being rude. So what if she's doing this for the fame? I wouldn't mind being in her position and having millions of dollars in my bank account.

  • @Lilia1992

People are "rude" because it's just not right that there's probably plenty of talented writers out there aspiring to get published, but for whatever reason they can't, yet here comes this hack writer who - as King said - can't write worth a darn at all, and yet she's gotten millions off having no talent whatsoever.

That's why people are "rude" to Meyer. Because she's just so undeserving of her fame.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies I agree that she isn't talented but the publishing world is about what sells and unfortunately, the majority of people can't read above a fifth grade level and so literature has to be dumbed down for the masses.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies But I see no reason to be so rude. Sure, I don't like her but it's getting to the point where this is becoming abuse. Just because she's famous doesn't mean that these criticisms don't count as bullying. Criticise her use of vocabulary and her lack of character development but calling her fat or dumb is bullying and that's what I find so annoying.

  • @Lilia1992

I wasn't talking about people calling her "dumb" or "fat" or anything like that. I don't even care that much anymore about Twilight. I only came here because some friend of mine thought that it was quite interesting.

I've only mentioned people's frustration not only with Twilight, but with society's consistent fixation on mediocre drivel. I mean, what exactly has Twilight got that makes it more deserving of all its fame than the exactly-the-same supermarket romances?

  • @TheCanadianPrairies As someone who has been bullied before, I don't like that this is happening to someone who has feelings. I know not everyone likes her but this isn't exactly a private forum and she can read what people are writing. What started off as criticisms and frustration has turned into a kind of bullying frenzy.

  • @Lilia1992

I doubt Stephanie Meyer even reads any of this or pays attention to it. Why? I have evidence suggesting her brother shelters her from all of it, and apparently also from the bullying Twilight fans do to non-fans, which includes beatings, attempted drownings, and broken bones.

Where's Meyer's outrage about that? I don't see Rowling or King's fans beating people up.

This is the internet. There are no standards of decorum. It just, well, is.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies He does shelter her. I and some friends sent her an email a while ago saying that we feel she's punishing her fans for her own mistakes and we got no reply.

I was slapped by a Twifan. No problems though because I hit her back and I'm pretty intimidating as it is.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies There may not be standards of decorum but the law is still in place and can be used over the internet. She may not be reading this but it still counts as bullying. And what lesson does this teach to other teens and kids? What? Bullying is fine? Bullying is abuse no matter what you call it.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies I've been through a lot of bullying in my life and it still affects me. Most of the criticisms I've seen are okay but some people have posted some horribly sick stuff on the internet and it's disgusting!

  • @Lilia1992

Stephanie Meyer sells better than most authors out there?

Tell that to Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, Danielle Steel, and others who outsell her to this day.

So what if she's doing this for the fame? Yep. Because you shouldn't care when she's written a series that basically puts misogyny on a pedestal. But if rappers can do it for a decade, why not Meyer?

  • @TheCanadianPrairies But Steel and King have written more books than her. Meyer sells more copies of one book than them, not including Queen Rowling.

I don't care if she's doing this for the fame because I have other things in my life to worry about, things that actually matter like illnesses. I don't like the misogynistic undertones in Twilight but at least I've met boys who criticise them rather than make sexist jokes because of Twilight.

  • @Lilia1992

Meyer outsells Stephen King? Fail. That's not even close to reality.

Also, caring about one's health is vital aspect of living, but people care if she's doing it for the fame because they are gripped by a belief that it's just not right to reward people who aren't talented, that the books have the undertones you don't like, and so on.

Twilight shouldn't even be famous. It's the same shit you can find at supermarkets, but of a far lower quality than even that.

  • @TheCanadianPrairies Plus, Twilight has given me something to laugh about.

  • You don't hear J.K. Rowling complaining and she's fucking better writing books than her.

  • @Badjakaru And Rowling also doesn't go around saying, "MY BOOKS ARE THE BEST!! READ THEM!!"

  • Trolls everywhere. There is nothing wrong with this advice. Could someone explain to me why it's considered to be... less good?

  • @HedvigU The advice she is giving is good, I'll be fair. However though, taking advice from Stephanie Meyer when it comes to writing is almost laughable, seeing that her books are terribly written with half-baked plots, idiotic characters, and incomprehensible dialogue. If you ask me, Meyer simply heard this advice one day, and never practiced it.

  • @Slide2671 Well, I guess... I personally have not ever read her books and don't know much about her writing style. But when coming to inspiring others, well, she is a good inspiration and she does not have to be professional to inspire others.

  • @HedvigU Yeah, you do have a point. Still, I'm just hoping they take inspiration from the words she says in this video, not the words in her book.
