Dissapointed? For me, singing live is one step ahead to become a respectable singer and also it is challange the singer to be better rather than stay at the old level and just be happy with that. They have some good songs, but they limit their talent by lip-sync. For me, it is dissaponting.

Actually, I'm also a little bit disappointed that AKB almost always do lip-sync. I know it's really difficult to sing live and dance simultaneously, but they must be conscious that they are performers representing one country, and do their best to perform.

If you're from japan, you would know they never lipsync at live concerts (Seibu dome, yokohama arena, yoyogi gymnasium)  and their theater in Don Quixote.

There's a lot of artists who lipsync on tv shows like music japan, music station, hey hey hey, and etc.

Personally, as long as i know they don't lip sync at the concerts, i'm fine with it.

By the way, you can't just buy the DVDs, the DVDs are editted. you really have to be there.

I've heard songs like this hundred times, they can sing...yep, but their voices aren't making you think:"Wow!!" So, I don't hate them, but I still can't believe, that these girls are so popular in Japan, I mean, there's so much better music to listen to. Like YUI, ss501, 2ne1 and Big Bang! I don't think AKB48 are something special!

AKB48 are cute and young and they appeal to various demographics. They're not the most talented, yes, but even the Kpop artists you mentioned aren't the most talented people in the business. They do seem to be more talented than AKB48 but there are loads more groups that are more talented than them but less popular. It really depends on who they appeal to

@morningmimi, idk..sounds a bit harsh. maybe idol pop hasn't progressed but good stuff has come from Jpop in even the last 10 years. Utada Hikaru reigned for a while with her deep, meaningful lyrics and innovative beats/style. There was Mflow with their R&B/Hip-Hop influences. I think Matsuura Aya has evolved to become a solid premiere vocalist. They produce a lot of good R&B'ish type of pop but it gets overshadowed because of Idol pop and rock-influenced pop.
