@garzilla3dx I picked up Final Wars about year or so ago cuz it seemed like DAM....even though there were many production elements that I guess were better, it seemed way to rushed, lacked heart and was just missing something. Picked up the original today.....friggin still love it. The title music can't be beat and I still recall it twenty years later!!

@vidEOkid12345 It is one of the best. The monster action does not totally dominate the movie, there is an action, espionage plot too. If you see the original AIP english dub it's Hal Linden, TV's Barney Miller doing one of the voices. If you're new to Godzilla I would recommend MONSTER ZERO, GHIDORAH THE THREE HEADED MONSTER and GODZILLA vs MOTHRA. Monster Zero is like the high point of giant monsters crossed with sci-fi adventure.

@DB8ed The original idea was for baragon to attack that city but they replaced the scenes with gorosaurus, so i guess they screwed up on the trailer.

@garrettor Actually what happened was Baragon was scripted to appear in the scene, but the Baragon suit had been loaned out to Tsuburaya Productions for use in the the Ultra series. The suit had undergone a lot of changes, so when it came time to film the Paris scene, the suit was still being repaired. They decided to use Gorosaurus, but I guess the news reporter scene had already been filmed. The error is in both English versions and the original Japanese version too.

I would like to see Showa versions of Hesei and Millennium era monsters just to see what they'd look like and how'd they be altered to fit the kaiju tech of back in the day. I'm talking Destoroyah, Biollante, Cyber-Ghidorah, Orga-hell, even Gamera baddies like Legion or Iris broken down in the old school style. Likewise, modern versions of Sanda and Gaira-you know that would be badass.

When I was a kid & I saw the AIP version of the movie (not this trailer where the name is spelled out under the monster) I simply assumed that Paris had been attacked by BOTH Baragon & Gorosaurus. It sort of makes sense since there are several monsters who remain unaccounted for till the end of the picture & a couple who did not appear at all (I wasnt sure of the order of the movies at the time & assumed that this was the LAST in the series). Example: Where did Minilla and Varan attack?

I agree. The AIP dubbed version was superior in every way. Where those prints are now who can say. However the ADV dvds of Destroy All Monsters are now out of print as is their whole library. ADV Films no longer exists and the Majin and Gamera trilogys are now highly sought after collector items as well as some of their anime titles.

Wish you could still get this version. Its the one I grew up with. The dubbing on this version was great. The DVD we have now has shitty/boring dubbing.

Its funny how everyone always gets Baragon and Gorosaurus confused. And sometimes they confuse Gabera and Baragon also. Oh and they confuse Barugon from the Gamera movies with Baragon also.

Ive seen storyboards for scenes that were cut and un-filmed.

They originally had Maguma the mutant walrus in the film.

There was also going to be a part where Ghidorah destroys some city and highway before attacking the other monsters at Fuji. It would be great if they would do a special edition and add some stuff with Baragon and Varan in the action. They could even just use stock shots from Frankenstein Conquers the World and flip the image.

Obviously they don't own King Kong and paying the royalties would have really brought down the budget. I think they didnt include the "Gargantuas" or "Frankenstein" because their unusual nature (humanoid) would have required too much explanation. The dinosaur and insect characters are easier for an unfamiliar viewer to grasp.

Though if you included Kong, then youd have to include Frankenstein, and call the movie "House of Godzilla".

Uhhh, just watching Gorosaurus pop out of the ground makes me sad. Baragon is my favorite monster and it would have been cool for him to get to destroy Paris. However I guess his costume was unavailable. However when Gorosaurus pops out of the ground he does use Baragon's roar. I have nothing against Gorosaurus, he is cool, but HOW THE HELL DID HE BURROW UNDERGROUND????? THat was what bugged me about that, they should have replaced Baragon with Anguirus.

Baragon was meant to attack Paris and play a bigger role, but the suit was in bad shape from being modified to be different "Ultra Man" monsters.

Likewise, Varan was supposed to show up but that suit was in disrepair because it hadn't been used in years and all we got to see og him was a flight puppet in tiny cameos.

Yeah I heard that as well. Although the shots we got of those monsters, the suits looked fine to me. I'm sure it wouldn't have been overly difficult to touch up the suit, I mean for Jiras they used an old Godzilla suit.

Baragon was supposed to attack Paris for the film, using his burrowing ability to smash the Arc de Triumph from below. Unfortunately, the Baragon suit was unavailable due to the fact it was on loan to the people working on the Ultraman TV series. Baragon was replaced with Gorosaurus for this scene. Baragon later was used as a guard for the Kilaak Base, but he was not shown on screen doing this.
