The neighborhoods in that area are now either all black or all Mexican. Full of crime and violence. The exact thing that white people feared would happen, happened. Any white person that marched with MLK in order to destroy white neighborhoods, should have been beaten to a pulp.

I participated in another march in the west suburbs of Chicago on the same day. I was a white 16-year-old girl from rural Michigan in the city for a summer AFSC work project. There were 300 of us on the march with more than 1,000 screaming neighborhood residents lining our route. Mist were recent immigrants from Eastern Europe.
