  • @buggeazy102 yeah probably

  • Yeah, the real problem started when you started getting these scared little boys as policeman, instead of responsible and brave dare I even say father type figures for local areas, now it seems like there is no connection. And all the frightened meat heads of today are just making it worse. Fuck you and your arnette sunglasses, your a fucking tool, go back to actually having a meaningful purpose in society, thats what we want and need.

  • Lucky cops...now it's guns, and dumber criminals.

  • @irishkevin44 the only reason they didnt use guns becuz they weree harder to get a hold of

  • @poopmcscoopface well until they found out that these kids was willing to use a gun on one another back then to use a gun on somone was a serious thing you had to do some fucked up shit for somone to shoot you it was all about bats an knifves back then only the pimps and hustlers had guns nowadays guns got passed on down to the kids thats why you got somany dead ones today the government killed a crip an layed a red bandana over his face witch kicked off the bloody war in LA

  • @buggeazy102 but they stilled killed eachother the murder rate was crazy back then

  • What part of The Bronx did this take place?

  • About 9 blocks from Yankee Stadium/Bronx court houses.

  • when snitchin was cool

  • my pops was a ROYAL JAVLIN AHAHAH its my graffiti crew now

  • To bugstrut: There are many in North Carolina and Virginia with English names. I'm Black and was born in Virginia - and my last name is Copeland. I've done research and learned that the name is British and there are a lot of White people named Copeland in the South (NC & Va). I understand that there are people named Copeland in the West Indies too. Also, Stewart Copeland from the rock-group the Police, is also a Copeland from Virginia.

  • Whatever happened to the Royal Javlins. were they as big as the Skulls.

  • Its like the Warriors. the gang names were cooler back then man.

  • A bunch of skinny kids

  • Hey man! That's New York City MTA, turnstyle, train riding, stairclimbing, street walking muscle

  • Many of them were still just a bunch of skinny kids. My point is that they were getting involved with a violent lifestyle at such a young age.

  • true. What would you have done at that time if you lived there? Think you could've escaped it? It's one of the toughest neighborhoods in the world man. One of the poorest too. It's the poverty and corruption that lead to the gangs. You know? People always needed to protect themselves from the next man. Some had the idea to rob and some just didn't wanna be robbed. Nobody was handing these kids anything man. So I don't know. I wish it wasn't like that..but seriously what would you have done?

  • I lived on the westside of Detroit, about 2 miles from downtown during those same years. I know people who have been killed or have spent most of their lives behind bars. I know people in gangs or am related to them, and have been related to people who sold drugs. I used to fight my way to and from school because of muggers. Yet I got out, finished school, went to college, kept a clean record, and got married and had two children that I was there for.

  • Hey man, I respect that big time. But while you didn't become a statistic, there's a reason there's statistics. I can't really get in to deep into this one, I mean I been in a lot of fights, and like you yeah I am related to people that sold drugs, know people who died from it. You right, you right we had choices. We had choices. But a lot of folks fall victim man. For everyone of us there's atleat 10 of these kids bro.

  • You were there for your kids? Like Chris Rock said, BIG DEAL!

  • your misquoting that what chris rock said

  • That was cool .

  • can some one tell me where this clips from? doco?

  • I can't believe half of the crap we got away with as kids growing up in NYC. Try that stuff now and you'll be in Central Booking real quick..LOL

  • whoa oldschoool lol

  • my uncle was a royal javelin

  • is your uncle alive, to rep the javilins at the next reunion 09?

  • I can't imagine something like that happening now...

  • I aint never seen the cops get out and actually "Talk" to the kids anymore. The only time they get out now, is to arrest someone.

  • yeah and crime was worse then

  • Interesting to see what the gangs were into before cocaine and crack blew everything up.

  • I don't know, I think cocaine was near its height around then--though it's probably true that nobody in the Bronx would have been dealing it very much until freebase and crack came along.

  • WOW-SUMMER OF 77, The blackout, heatwave and the Son of Sam-true NYC

  • in the very beginning one of the kids said "PEACE GOD" and their name was the SUPREME enchanters.

  • This is is what hip hop was born out of.

This is why the fore fathers redirected the negative street energy- into hip hop a positive art form and a vehicle for self expression and knowledge.

  • True. That's why many became 5 percenters in the 80's. I wish i grew up in the late 70's early 80's to experience that revolution.

  • It's interesting to see how the police actually interacted with people back then and got out of their fucking cars and talked, and at a time when the murder rate in New York City was twice what it is now. If anything at least the police and street-kids didn't hate one another the way they do in 2008.

  • Would you have got out of the car if you'd been a cop? This isn't Top Cat's gang we're talking about here, remember.

  • If you are a Bronx street cop you better have been able to handle yourself. You are trained and armed and are often a street guy yourself. most of those guys were from working class irish and Italian neighborhoods with some blacks, Jews, and Puerto ricans thrown in. If you showed cowardice you'd be eaten alive. if the cops got messed up then, theyd fuck the kids up in retaliation. Street law

  • @siva171

That is because back then being a cop was just a job. Today, its like being in a cult. Cults separate themselves from the rest of society. Us vs Them mentality...

  • @siva171 - Thats because cops then had balls. Now they hire 3' tall fat woman!

  • @siva171

    It was a different time.

    Before Crack, Mac 10's, A.K's, Tec's,

Cops back then didn't wear vest's & carried revolvers & they didn't have 30,000 plus members. COPS befriended the streets in order to understand & make the job easier.

  • bxmammal- everything you said i liked .i salute both your parents.you gave a good response. no hard feelings.

  • if you love the boogie down so much and your peeps ,why did you move to westchester?WHATS WRONG WITH LIVING IN THE BX?you moved out, does that say something about your fellow bronxites? WHY CUT AND RUN?

  • It's called the American Way, Do better than the last generation. Both of my parents were cops. I was the first college graduate and the first to own a home. My kids hopefully will do better than me. Their moms is a nurse. I am working on my second masters in education.(When this economy worsens only doctors, nurses and teachers will be guranteed jobs)One of my kids will go into medicine, they will own homes, get degrees(that they can use)and do better than their parents.

  • Here's some food for thought, instead of directing your misguided hate towards minorities, watch a few youtube videos on subjects like Zeitgeist, Ron Paul or the Amero. As long as your dumb azz continues to direct your hate at me, you remmain the clueless prick they want you to be.

  • BXMAMAL- YOU probably got into fordam due to a minority scholarship.

  • Panzer, IBM paid for it. I own a home in Armonk, NY but I'll always be a Bronxite at heart. I dont usually entertain racists but your situation was intriguing because you are a white who lived in the Bronx. I'm familiar with "white Flight" but hearing the reasons from the horses mouth was interesting. Education is the greatest defense against racism. I'm just fortunate I was born in an era where I dont have to take the physical or mental abuse like my ancestors.

  • i was one 0f 6 white kids at roosevelt high school on fordam road.the abuse we got solely cause of our race was a disgrace.

  • Panzer299, that explains your bitterness. You were poor white trash who was forced to rely on Public school education. My parents sent me to Catholic School in the Bronx. I went to school also on Fordham Rd however it was Fordham University. You hated minorities but since your parents had shytty jobs you were forced to integrate.

  • Minorities? Don't you realise, it was the white kids who were the minority?

  • panzer one must keep in mind that no one loves the devil.

  • What race are you? I'm English, and I was wondering, are there many people with English heritage in New York? I'm always hearing about New Yorkers with Irish names, Italian names, Polish names, and Jewish names, but I never hear any English names - apart from in sitcoms, oh, and the black people who got their names from slavery.

  • English people live in the south here.

  • Why's that?

  • um, the Revolutionary war? I don't have a clue.

  • after the revolution most English emigrated to your colonies then. NYC is a city of the modern Immigrant. Even the Irish, many are from Northern Irleand who left in the 70's and 80's. The Italians came in the early 1900. Your country has never really had a mass exodous to NY in the modern era.

  • Porkies... Straight-upDOTinfo

  • Hey Pazer299, what do you have for brains? Crap? Puerto Ricans have been living in New York ever since Puerto Rico became part of the USA, you moronic stupid idiot. You fecking cornball! And another thing, dirtball, NY has always had gangs. Do some reading, you dumb fecking horse!

  • bronx was nice till the1960s than the puerto ricans moved in droves.the jews fled the grand conc. and went to co op. the irish and italians kept going north ,crime stated going up,projects went up,it became a war zone.white flight started.yankee stadium precint had most murders, what a shame all thats good is riverdale and country club.

  • Panzer299, America was originally occupied by Native Americans. Your ancestors are from Europe and were immigrants just like all the other races Einstein.Stop fuking your sister, leave the crystal meth alone and spend more time reading and educating yourself.

  • @PANZER299 Rather have sp-iggers than jews...

  • Yo, the bigger you are the harder you fall..that's the way it is! Real deal jack!

  • wow 169 and sheridan, im on 167 and walton. i read somewhere online that the savage skulls had a division on 167 and morris, rite down teh block from me. i remember seeing a Savage Nomad around my way. those gangs are kool. now its just a whole different thing.

  • wow cops back then seem nice but in the 80s fucking italians joined the force then the nypd became o d racist no wonder no ones like nypd but the fucking plumbers...

  • Why do you blame racism for the Police's hatred of gangs? Gangs made life hell for normal people - nobody liked them. Sorry to break this to you.

  • I love this - thank you so much King Klast!

  • Alot of them Like ChingAling Nomads in the Bronx, and West Caost,Are Outlaw Biker Clubs.Savage Skulls ,Savage Nomads,Majestics are still around ,just don't know if there Bikers now!!

  • Ya! that's one old Outlaw Club,ChingaLing Nomads! They have a Chapter on the West Coast now!!

  • Yo . I live between Vyse ave and Daly Ave. in the South Bronx. I live in the middle of the Black Assassins,Black Spades ,Peace Makers,Reapers, 5%ers and the Chingalings. and not to far was the Ghetto Brothers. It was crazy..but safer then than it is now. RED and BLue..what a joke !

  • I'm hoping these farce gangs die out and we can sport real colors again... well... maybe the next generation, I might be too old for that sort of thing.

  • yeah man hopefully maybe they won't be anymore punks and theres RED,BLUE AND YELLOW and all 3 are retarted hopefully they do die out and real ppl can come in like me.

  • so badass. i want to make a movie about these days. for real.

  • Yo someone should make a movie based on the life of the bronx gangs in the 70s.

  • damn you ny dudes was rough in the 70s!

  • i wish we could go back in this timeim from the 90s and Portugal but i really wished to got to US in these times.

  • this is what gave rise to hip hop

  • damn the cops actually "spoke" to the kids back in the day...wow....times have changed.

  • NO shit. What I remember most about these old days was that no one truly hated the cops. Gosh I miss them.

  • Some of them are still around, like the Majestic,Savage Nomads,Chingaling Nomads,Aliens,Chuck Zito the Hells Angel, was a Chingaling for many Years, now there all Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs!

  • Whoa, NY in the seventies was a terrible place!!! :P

  • true indeed i remember

  • It WAS the "best" place to live. Now its shots and guns and....

  • In times like this, I miss Charles Bronson... >)

  • I asked him to come back... He said no dice.

  • WTF is this?
