I know Neil Patrick Harris is gay, but I still forget that fact every single time I watch him play Barney on TV and hook up with women. I know most actors are married even, but I don't let that fact spoil my movies where the action hero gets the girl. There is not only suspension of disbelief, but there's also the realization that you are watching FICTION, that you are watching ACTORS play parts that may or may not have nothing to do with who they are. That's why it's called 'acting'.

i get what jon cryer is trying to say, if an actor who is well known and alot is known about him/her  then the audiences view on the character is affected, might not affect it much but it does and no matter how great the actor is it will always happen, and about the people who steal actors identity need to get a life of their own and not steal someone elses, i fell very sorry for a person who doesn't have their own life, so pretends to be someone ther not
