@thankw You mean the tremolo-y sound? I think he has a killswitch on his guitar (a switch which basically turns the sound off and on)... so he plays the note and just flicks it back and forth (at that point in the video you can see him moving his hand away from the strings to move it).

@YorkeTchock That sound is achievable without a killswitch aswell! (I believe so at least) If you got 2 pickups and a volume knob for both you can turn the volume to 0 on one of the pickups and to 10 (unless they go to 11 of course) And switch between those.
