Bo94dk. Your a fucking idiot. Get your cdl and drive trucks, and then learn how they work. You don't gotta use the clutch. But its not recommended. (Damage can occur)
@ussenterp65 they are synchronized the only thing that is different from a car is the fact that a truck have loads more gears than a car thats the only difference on european trucks... the most american trucks arent synchronized and if you drive those you do not use the clutch to change gears only when you start from a stand-still and have to go to reverse but when youre only shifting gears you dont use the clutch
Andy I just noticed, only after a year of you uploading the video. That truck doesn't look like it's equipped with a crawler gear, or do you have to range change to the high position in reverse to get the crawler on your truck??
I'm shocked. I've been trying to work out your words. And honestly i can't handle it. Your English is terrible! However the way you are driving the truck, is not bad. But it is funny how you are explaning the whole thing on the gear shifting. you suprised me also with the small 6 and with the big one. I didn't know that such kind of gears really exist. We rather distinguish between high and low gears in a truck. 1-3 low 4-6 high. And each gear includes one extra gear, so it gives us 12.
You means 12speed -> 9 forward gears ( 1,2,3,4little,4big,5little,5big,6little,6big ) 2 reverse gear and the Neutral (N)?? Reverse gears on the top right side of the stick? And where is the Neutral gear?
Drive safe! ;) (i'm a "future trucker" too so i watch every tutorial vids from you!)
Thank you for this Vid-i drove a FH12-440 in my Driving School-first few hours it was a horror to shift......i remember how often i was standing in front of a Red-light-and tried to speed up not in the first but the fourth gear-cause the damn tiny little bitch was in down position not up-lol. Greets..
fully loaded i shift 2nd low -> 4th high -> 6th low -> 7th low and from there on every half gear
empty: 3rd high -> 5th high -> 7th low -> 8th high....so the rpm is always from 1000 to 1600 and accelerates pretty fast without leaving the "green-area" :D
uphill it doesnt work, get too low rpm while pressing the clutch :/
wow people always have to make it complicated, the only time me n my dad would have used the splitter is when we went up a 6% plus hill/grade. just stick it in 1^ and use the stick till 6 then range change it, go back to 1 (aka 7 when range changed) to start again, we'd go about 100km/h in 10th or 11th depending on the terrain.
Hey andi :D. Great video. My father also drived Volvo manual gearbox but it was a 1998 model :D. He drived for Firma Poscharnegg from St.Johann im Saggautal. Do you know them ? Greetings
YOu know how many times I've been flamed on my shifting video becasue I say "split the gear"? Im glad to see someone else say and know the smae as I do. Great video. I'd like to drive a truck there just to feel it
Nice video!!! 12 speed is always better ... but i only use the splitter when having a heavy load going up long hills .. the rest i just use the range change 3,4,5,6,7,8,..
hey, awesome idea! what a great surprise and privilege to me: "(... )Special to my future trucker friens here on the youtube:(...) emgie89" :D:D you're awesome, bro! hope i would have chance to use yours advices :)
So richtig die Gänge reinhauen wie früher die Hand am Knüppel und das letzte aus dem Truck holen. Mit der Automatik hat sich alles geändert. Mir fehlt einfach der Kontakt zum Truck.

I don't understand why American trucks have to use crash boxes. They should use synchronized transmissions.

nice video. so you have Hi/Lo on each shift? I mean 1-2-3 (LOw/Hi) - that means 6?
and then Split 4-5-6 (LOW-HI)?
Have you used in the video 1-2-3 only on low, right?

Where does the reverse sits? Does it also has a lever to prevent accidental engagement of reverse like in a normal car?

ok, u got
1/4 3/6 |______| |
2/5
but it looks like there is much more on the stick, right?
can u tell some more about it? another vid or something? cuz this was a very good video.
i never before drove a manual, my uncle teached me to drive with an automatic, but it's not that hard.
elnico1990 2 years ago
You have the MAIN Gears 1-6 and can SPLIT them I call it half gears..
Its on the side of the stick..
If you drove tractors its like turtle and rabbit..Strong or fast.. If you drive up a hill a hole gear is to much and you split and take a half gear..
aid2003 2 years ago
I guess you have to push the clutch too after splitting right?
